Third Clue for the Search For N…

Note: Clue three is a 4-part collaborative clue, i.e. mynokiablog.com has part one of the four parts required to work out the clue. You have to find part two, three and four in order to work out the third clue.

I’ll update this post with the other parts when I find them:

Thanks to those who’ve located the last part of the clue. Here’s all four of them, slightly slowed down.

There appears to be a common theme in all parts of the clues. :)

When you think you’ve worked out Clue 3, go to: blogs.nokia.com/nseries/index.php/search-for-n to check your answer, and hopefully get your third green tick.

Only two more clues to go, so keep an eye out for them, as well as the previous two clues that have already passed. Solving them all may get your hands on a Nokia N97!

  1. thh says:

    nokia is finnish

  2. Xwandroid says:

And Ovi means Door in Finnish, ovi is related to egg in romance languages (italian, spanish, france, etc.) (spanish is my mother tongue and we have words like oviparo, ovario, etc.)

  3. Joseph says:

There are 2 things I can think of atm. The fact that ‘made in japan/russia/..and if you look at the closeup shot of the typewriter, you can just about see the “MADE” but the rest is hidden. Also, almost every image on there is related to something in the image, such as the notebook and pen, the boat and the dock.

  4. kpc419 says:

just tried typing in bananas, birds and trolleys and nothing came up! lol! i’m losing my mind. i’m considering phoning in sick for work today/tomorrow. i am supposed to start in four hours (0530) and i’m not even in bed! i hope someone at nokia has a good apology for disrupting our weekends! grr! lol!

  5. baker99 says:

The circuit board is the only thing that appears twice, that could be a clue, I can’t read the chip number so cant look that up.

Each clue has 12 images, or 11 if you ignore the words.

    I really should give up….

  6. Johan says:

The only thing that makes sense to me is that ONE NEST IN LEXICON has 16 letters, and there are 42 images. These to me would relate to the micro sd card (16gb max) and memory limit (42gb with micro sd card), but I have run out of memory related terms to try :(

  7. Persia says:

I was suppose to go to bed but im still sitting…

It must be something so simple ive typed everything to do with memory there is nothing ill keep trying

  8. dcastrog says:

I FINALLY CRACKED GUYS :D voila!

  9. dcastrog says:

fuck the nigga man and the LJ, they where all wrong

    • LJ says:

No I wasn’t – you said “Do you mean the part of wikipedia or the part of the NEST and ICON?” and my reply was “NEST is the most relevant *of* *those* *three* *things*, *but* *you* *need* *other* *parts* *to* *solve* *it*”.

Anyway congrats on solving it ;)

      • Simon says:

How in the hell, is “NEST” the most relevent word in this situation? It means nothing. You also said it was only one word. The answer isn’t even a Word.

        • LJ says:

There’re no spaces in it so it must be one word! I solved it by seeing there were 16 letters in it and if you arrange the clues like David did:

          NEST
          IN

‘Nested’, in the top left reading anticlockwise is “NINE” – there’s another “NINE” ‘nested’ in the other letters, so 16 and two 9s – ‘sixteen to nine’ – 16:9. Well, it worked for me… :D I hadn’t spotted the “sixteen colon nine” anagram at that stage.

          • dcastrog says:

funny how everybody got the answer by diferent ways

          • Jay says:

Yup. Essentially, the answers can be gleaned from an N97 spec sheet. Intriguing to see everyone take the importance of the images and go off route. I was particularly impressed with the screen capture posted. Twas very interesting to see all the directions everyone was taking this clue.

  10. dcastrog says:

well, just before i was gonna smash my head against the wall I finally came to the answer:

the aspect radio of the N97 screen:

    16:9

  11. dcastrog says:

should I get another N97 from nokia? :p

  12. baker99 says:

You deserve free Nokia’s for life, well done.

  13. Jack Lee says:

    How?????

  14. dcastrog says:

    —I POSTED THIS ON FACEBOOK—-
    http://www.new.facebook.com/topic.php?topic=8300&post=35435&uid=97106537776#topic_top

    easy, we got

    NESTINONELEXICON: 16 letters

    LEXICON? like T9??

    16:9??

    also you can do
    NESTINONE = 9 (!)
    LEXICON=7 (?)

    9 plus 7 = 16 (!)

and the word LEXICON is the 9th frame of the 4th video

those are the magic numbers :)

  15. Jack Lee says:

Ah! You are David from facebook? Congrats on a job well done, man!

  16. Vinnie says:

    Hi, guys!

I’d actually got it at around 1:45AM this morning, but tried to keep my lips sealed and hoping none of you would get it! :p (Aren’t I naughty?!)
The clues in the videos all showed different features of the phone. But it was the screen specs that were missing from any of the frames.

What do the words NEST IN ONE LEXICON mean?
Well.. they’re an anagram of SIXTEEN COLON NINE.. a rather unusual way of saying “sixteen by nine”, but is, undeniably, “16:9″, nevertheless.

    Well done, dcastrog!

    • dcastrog says:

nice, i like your answer better, I guess you went on the right track :p haha

      • llaadd says:

I got it at 1:02am, just thought i’d forget everything everyone had said, go back to basics, and looks at what is different about the N97 video compared to other phones, tried “nHD” first, then “16:9 Video” then just the 16:9 bit and it worked WWWHOOOOOHOOO

    • baker99 says:

Ahh that makes more sense, I probably saw that in the anagram solver but thought it was just another random sentence, doh!

    • LJ says:

There’re also “NINE” twice in the letters of the phrase too. Very clever clue Nokia! :D

  17. llaadd says:

if u’r gonna “work it out i think this makes the most sence in my view:

“nest” (4 letters) goes “in one” “lexicon” (7 letters)
the ratio of the 2 words are 1.75:1 which is 15.75:9 and if u round up is equivalent to 16:9 that’s what made sense in my mind after i’d essentially guessed it with a clear head lol

  18. Simon says:

Gosh darn it. I even tried Widescreen. I knew it had to be a feature of the phone, and after the first clue, well, it could have been anything! Any number or bizarre arrangement of words.

  19. Jay says:

Congrats on solving clue 3 guys!
    Good luck for Tuesday’s clue.

  20. steve says:

One more to go then, I guess there wont be as much sharing on the last clue ;)

Everyone keeping it to themselves, or misleading people

  21. suf says:

Finally we got it lol.i tried 3.5 inch but that didnt work so i was close…just one more to go now guys.well done everyone who got it :D

  22. Noel says:

Yeah, brilliant!! Well done.. this was definately the best thread for tips despite the users trying to take it off in a different route!

  23. Persia says:

dcastrog thank you soo much i think you put everyone out their misery… but the worst thing is the spec is 15:9

  24. Simon says:

There’s not going to be any more N97′s left by the time I get round to reading the final clule.

  25. steve says:

anyone know what happens after clue 5 then??

    • Miguel says:

You enter all your 5 answers in the check answers form, click the ‘check your answers’ button and you should get the following message:

“Congratulations! You’ve entered all five clues correctly.

Select a city for directions to the nearest N. But hurry, or someone else might get there before you…

      Oxford
      Manchester
      Birmingham
      Cardiff
      Dorset
      London 1
      London 2

      * Check this page daily. It will be updated as the Ns are discovered.

      Find the N

Here are the Nokia map coordinates of the nearest N. Write them down,
grab your coat and find that N! Good luck.

      Latitude: xxx
      Longitude: xxx”

      Hail firebug! :P

      • steve says:

Well thats great, there are none near me anyway. Suppose cardiff is nearest for me.

How do you know this by the way

        • Miguel says:

Using Firebug, a Web developer firefox plugin, I use a lot.
I could pick up that the flash answer checker looks up a certain public xml file which lists which responses it will display to you depending if your answer is right or wrong.
It doesn’t give you the answers or the actual coo-rodinates, only the congratulations or error messagess.
Oh what the hell, it’s http://blogs.nokia.com/nseries/searchforn/data/main.xml

          You don’t get any answers, they’ve encrypted that. :P , I’ve checked.

      • Persia says:

ahhhhhh that sucks there is no chanch i might as well go to central london and sit down waiting for the coutdown till all answers are correct and how are we suppose to know the Long and Lat ohh god nokia is evil

      • steve says:

Those locations are actually on the header bar of the Seearch for N home page hmmmmmm
