hi i got the same problem. i already followed the step however i couldnot find the mapinstaller or map installs at C drive (or F either). non there. i use N97. Thanks for helping

I have the same issue on my 5800. I followed neil martin’s instruction,continued the update and it was successful. Thanks neil. @JM Bois – go to settings and app manager and delete nokia maps. Hope it works for you

I have a small problem that even though my N97 has the very latest v21 firmware, I’ve not got, nor have I ever had, the SW Update Icon/feature in my apps folder or anywhere else.
Does anyone know how I can get round this?

I have the same problem. Update failed and I can’t uninstall Ovi maps. I downloaded Nokia maps 3.3 but lost 9mb of memory while keeping the old Ovi maps 3.1. I uninstalled both but Ovi stayed while the new one left.

What’s occuring?

I can’t find the file mapinstaller on my 5800.
Maybe the name is different or it is elsewhere on 5800.

Please understand I was annoyed with the way it was not working so I had a guess. I could still do format if I got it wrong. So I deleted file on C drive called mapinstaller. It worked instantly as the installation of new maps continued from where it left off. Good luck !

Hi.
I went into File Manager; then c drive and deleted nokia maps from there. The installation continued immediately from then and it works perfectly.
