"Ovi Store will tower over Apple's App Store and Android Market in a few years". Poll: Do you agree?
@MickyFin retweeted a very provocative tweet by @tomiahonen Tomi comment 4 Ovi – in a few years Ovi will tower over all other App stores incl iPhone & Android simply due to Nokia’s scale. Inevitable 8 minutes ago via web At the current state of super fragmented Ovi Store where compatibility and content is low, [...]
MeeGo gets much love and public support from the likes of Acer, Asus, BMW, EA Mobile, Gameloft and Cisco.
MeeGo is getting much love in the industry as some big players voice their support for the Intel-Nokia Molin-Maemo child. We could see MeeGo on Acer and Asus netbooks and tablets, Meego on car dashboard (running Ovi Maps navigation), finally get some decent gaming titles that meet the standard of today’s 3D visual expectations on [...]

Video: Nokia N82 Multitasking 66 apps
Here’s a blast from the past. A video of the N82, yes, N82 Xenon master from 2007, supposedly multitasking 66 applications. They are all open, as shown by the blue indicator icon of open apps. However, I’d like to see how responsive the apps actually are when you switch from one app to the other.

MyNokiaBlog Weekly Post Roundup (ep 13)
Unlucky Episode 13 is the least busiest week here at mynokiablog in a long time. More due to my crushing deadlines than actual lack of Nokia stuff going on. Man, need more organization/time machine. Things should start picking up soon again. Though my time table should actually get even worse now that its revision time [...]
Video: Google Chrome (Chromium) on the Nokia N900!
You might have seen some screenshots floating around yesterday showing Google’s Chrome Browser on Maemo 5′s N900. Below is a video by Test-Mobile.fr demonstrating Chrome on N900 in action. I still think the default MicroB rocks the pants off any alternative browser (being faster, better flash support, kinetic scrolling, multiwindow in multitask mode – though [...]
Video Ads: Ovi Maps – Got Away
Sometimes, being lost can get you into lots of trouble. If you had Ovi Maps, you’d avoid all that wouldn’t you? This poor guy only had a paper map, and no one really knows how to use them anymore. He gets lost, but is ‘found’ by this Welsh woman. He’s trapped. And been trapped for [...]
Video: Shake To Control your N900's music player buttons! Awesome accelerometer app for Maemo 5. Fantastic alternative to dedicated music keys.
Here’s a really awesome application for your N900 called “Shake to Control”. Once you install it, you get a button/widget on your desktop that says “Start” (I’ve turned mine on so it says stop). This app utilizes your N900s accelerometer to control your media keys, hence “shake to control”. It works really well and it’s [...]

Video: New Maemo 5 transition effects on the Nokia N900
This just popped up on my twitterfeed from @VDVsx: The N900 was a first for Nokia in having some usable eye candy theme effects (that were real and out of the box, not fake ones like N97, or kinda sluggish on 5800). The effects are very nice. The only thing I’d like to see is [...]

How To: Getting your N900 to play smooth videos on BBC iPlayer despite the BBC update that stopped the old solution.
Remember the post back in February that showed you how to get BBC iPlayer to work smoothly on your N900? This post. That was from a really helpful discovery by Dancairo on talk.Maemo.org. However, a recent upgrade to BBC iPlayer meant that the BBC iPlayer site that was specially made for low bandwidth was no more. [...]

Video: Expenses Tracker available for Nokia N900 with Toshl 1.5 on Maemo 5 (Also an Android/iPhone and WebOS app)
An expense tracker app on my old 7610 really helped me monitor my expenses and save cash. Now in our recession days, it’s even more important to be much more thrifty. TOSHL’s Expenses Tracker helps you manage your finances by recording your purchases. You just name purchases with tags and frequently used tags appear next [...]
Video: Installation tutorial of MeeGo for N900
If you need this video to install MeeGo on N900, you should NOT be installing MeeGo on your N900. This is not for end users, there is no graphical user interface – fancy icons and swishy animations (it’s all via command line). But still, it’s one of the first view videos of MeeGo in action. [...]
Mobile Phone 2009 Sales/Market Share Charts. Nokia looking at 13th consecutive year at number one.
Some interesting numbers to take a look at from Communities Dominate Brands. Quite an achievement to still be number one 12 years later. In 1999, Nokia were [...]
