Thats a really good point and have always wondered that myself about the similar UI from the 5233 to the N97, I guess Nokia wants it make it easier for customers upgrading by giving them a similar Ui or they are just plain lazy.

This is excellent work. Any chance of this becoming available in English? Its a good and balanced piece, that connects a better conclusion to the actual content.

Eldar is a Bada (samsungs) OS pay roll, i think..
many of the Bada users mentioned that Bada is not a SmartPhone OS, Samsung simply altered SE's old A-200, utterly copied Iphonic icons with Android OS + Touch wiz [the crap ass] and named as a BADA..
The only thing worried me about symbian is thier similiar UI. even low end phone 5233 gets the same UI things as of my N97 mini's then whats worth for my penny??
Answer me nokia :-\

This is what happens when you "preview/maul" an extremely early PROTO like as if it's the final production grade hardware/software.

It's like shouting at a Michelin Star Chef for a disgusting dish when he's only in the middle of chopping the ingredients. Obviously, it's not yet finished, and should be judged when all has come together as the Chef (or Nokia) intended :)

N8 is like a good stew - it needs its time to simmer and improve (now just on software). Wait longer and it's really good. (Though wait too long and it's meh. We've gone and got take out)

well it supposed to be N9 which we already know it will be released in q4 this year. probably at the end of November , beginning of December to capture the Christmas sells fever.
Seriously Eldar didn't bring any news. he just pointed what was obvious and we already know.

Well put and exactly in line with recent Nokia statements. The N8 was never planned to be the Nokia Flagship, which will soon be a MEEGO device. I also think the statement from Eldar about the N8 being a 5800XM is somewhat misguided. The X6 is that device and the X series will continue to meet this consumer market. The N8 is a super camera phone. As for Symbian^4...it is meant to compete head on with both Android and IOS. MEEGO is meant to trump all in the mobile computer market. Symbian^3 has mass market scaleability and will box IOS and Android from below as MEEGO boxes these other platforms from above. Symbian^4 will then abruptly encroach on IOS and Android. Qt is the great scaler in all of this...allowing Nokia and an army or programmers to more efficiently creat apps across a very deep product portfolio. Now it is only on Nokia to execute a well thought out strategy.

quotes from link:
''Nokia's next flagship smartphone, the N8, will be the last N-series phone running Symbian software.''The confirmation that MeeGo will be used for the next flagship Nseries device shows Nokia is betting the ranch on this platform to beat high-end rivals such as Apple's iPhone''
