I read a badly named, semi-factually inaccurate article today that managed to actually hit it spot on anyway despite the issues. Interesting read concerning the subject matter in this post here on MNB.

http://j.mp/9hmd1b - From TGDaily

This is Nokia's problem to a T - Something that even big name companies are struggling with. I truly think it has to do most with the person steering the ship, the process used from top to bottom in how a product is designed, developed and eventually produced and the direct in which the company wants to head!

Nokia needs a "Can Do" attitude right now, not a "Well, we could but..."

Nokia is slowly decaying and they need a CEO who can turn this ship around and fend off Apple/Google on the high end and Samsung, HTC and the Chinese on the low-end. For my money that means an American with past experience successfully turning a big company around. Nokia has great engineering but seems to be perenially 12-18 months late to every party - rapid delivery is essential.

Hi there, I didnt read all the comments that have been made, I just think that Nokia, whatever the nationality of the CEO is, should hire someone with charisma, that when he or she spoke we would get mesmerized with his words.
For instance, I don't like Steve Jobs, he's evil and manipulates our minds, but as a public speaker he is a genius. It's like: "Hello, mankind." clap clap clap - but the man said nothing WTF?
Nokia needs someone to be a strong public to represent its empire

Hiring an US CEO in Nokia is like hiring a british designer in Ferrari. I really like to see Anssi there but also want to see what he could do in mobiles, at the end of the day Nokia problems are not only CEO related (marketing, go to market, device specs, UI, etc), but for sure if the CEO will change, better after N8 launch.

Anssi should be allowed a degree of autonomy with the mobile section IMHO. Let him do his thing and bring someone in that'll find a way of appealing the masses, and devs while also being a forward thinking, charismatic individual.

In the world of spin and deception fields, features produced in Nokia phones DO NOT matter until a competitor has them at a later stage. And should a competitor have something before a Nokia, that's a huge failure on Nokia's side.

Maybe iPhones have perception altering drugs that leach into your skin when you touch them. Multitouch, more fingers to absorb the mind altering drugs.

Don't get me wrong, I like the iPhone for certain things. I just hate the baseless, illogical love the majority of people have for it.

Yup, if there was to be any one taking OPK's seat it should be Anssi. Though who'd be taking over smartphone dev...I wish there were two Mr Vanjokis. The other with an American accent to flatter the West. (Nothing against Fin-eng accent, we just need slick speaker in their native tongue when addressing audiences of that language - be it in Chinese/French/English.)

Though why now of all times to be looking for a new CEO when the plan is about to start bearing fruit.

Having a non-Fin CEO would simply be just for that plain reason, non-Fin. Great for media. Pick who ever's right for the job. Right now, that would be Anssi V (should OPK really have to step down) and he just happens to be Finnish.

I will be really surprised if the CEO comes from the USA. I'm betting it will be another Finn and is most likely working in Nokia.

And smartphone revolution didn't start 2007 with iPhone. Why? because it wasn't a smartphone. A phone with an easy multitouch interface? Yes. Smartphone? Hell no! Why? Here's a list of some of the things the iPhone was lacking:

-multitasking
-cut-and-paste
-bluetooth file transfer
-MMS support
-Java support
-user-installed applications
-Microsoft office applications support (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
-video record
-video calling with second forward-facing camera
-3G
-GPS
-FM radio
-voice dial

Not really a smartphone if you ask me. (BTW Nokia N95 had all those things in the list already in 2007...and more!)

Well if we are talking culture, then yes take an American. As messed up as the companies here in the States are, one of the things successful companies do do, is react to market changes fast. No matter the cost, no matter the burden. Nokia needs that, which is my point!

As has been joked about, they are the biggest ship..the one that can’t seem to change direction!

So so very true.
