The Nokia N8 is shipping !!!

| September 30, 2010 | Comments (0)

reminds me of fast food place :-D

Yes folks Nokia early this morning (why on earth I am up this early 6.30 am !!!) announced that the Nokia n8 is shipping just before the Q3 cut off date, so technically they did manage to release it on time. Devices have left China and Finland to be flown around the world to people that have pre ordered (maybe I should have :-( ) anyway Nokia goes on to say this is the highest pre order of any Nokia device before so I am thinking that people that have not pre ordered might be waiting a considerable time longer, I guess time will tell.  They also go on to provide pictures from the factory.

One of those beauties could be yours

let us know if you have received your device

I’d rather wait for the later shipment instead of getting burnt by this first shipment they try to rush out the door then falls apart in your hand a few days later because they forgot to solder that last chip or tighten that last screw. You understand?

    • John Wiegand-forson says:

I do understand but Nokia has taken extra care with the N8 after the N97 debacle they have admitted themselves quality wasn’t there and the N8 should have it then again I might be wrong

      • mj says:

man I need one… I am about to fly out in two weeks and I need to buy it so that I can get all the VAT back! 17.5% discount.

Hope there are some around in London.

    Great stuff, finally!
Felt like this day was never going to come.

And talk about cutting it close. They still technically shipped in Q3.
[BTW, was it just me or did the first image look like it was from a fast food place - then again Gizmodo did call Nokia "McDonalds" of the phone world or something like that.]

And that is why we can never listen to what people like that say. They have sold themselves out. Comments like that are pure jealousy. You’ve got to feel sorry for people who have such a nasty world view.

    Hi,

I live in Finland and I just got an sms from Nokia store saying that my preordered N8 is available for pickup

  9. Aaron says:

I sure hope one in the first batch is going to GSMArena.com. That site always meticulously analysis every tiny detail of every phone they review. I trust their judgment over pretty much anyone else.

  10. skills says:

yessss! finally! i pre-ordered it from an third-party online store on a 2 year contract for 66 swissfrancs (more or less 65 USD$) they say its availeble in early november :(

  11. Lek Tor says:

Can anyone say which areas get a made in China, and made in Finland variant of the N8???

  12. alex68 says:

USA and Asian market N8s are made in Peking (Nokia’s own factory, instead of foxconn).

Europe, Africa, Middle-east in Salo, Finland.

  13. Nocare says:

    australia and nz?

  14. skills says:

random question guys, i’ve seen that the nokia n8 works with a usb wireless mouse.. does it work with a normal usb keyboard too? that would be awesome!

  15. Anil Dhain says:

I really want one! Seems Tesco have put back the date as well to mid october now :(
    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.209-8479.aspx
play.com still have the phone as coming on 8th oct
    and mobilefun say 2nd october

    oh the agony of waiting!!

  16. Charles says:

Still no info on when it will be available in NZ. =( Will probably cost an arm and a leg when it gets here though. Might be better to wait until I move to the UK next year, and just stick with my trusty 1100 for a bit longer. =)

  17. Aaron says:

Apparently some people in Finland already have theirs. Let the ridiculous modding begin! I’d give my left leg for a Maemo theme on this thing.

  18. eneight says:

Just got my blue N8 from Nokia flagship store in Finland which has good availability even for non-preorders!

  19. eneight says:

No time turn it on just yet. :) Better work…

  22. Anil Dhain says:

the negativity has already kicked in…
Having tried it out briefly, it’s an improvement on the last few Nokia phones I owned (N95/96) but it’s still not a great experience.

    • Roger Johnson says:

What ARE you talking about? Is this your negativity or someone else’s? It’s not engadgets as far as I can see. It’s not some negative comments that matter – it’s what is said across multiple reviews and multiple user comments that matter.

Just to say there would be something SERIOUSLY weird going if everyone who buys an N8 loves it to bits and has nothing negative to say ever. And weirder if anyone whoever posts a comment anywhere about the N8 on a blog is only ever from the 100% positive crowd.

Like I say, what matters is multiple positive reviews across the board and multiple positive comments from users. There will ALWAYS be some negative comments for everything, ever!

    Roger Johnson :
Yes, perfectly. This is what you’re looking for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AZh1X2Vj_0

yea thanks, but this is bluetooth, my question was if it works with the usb o-t-g with a normal pc usb keyboard with a cord or a wirelss keyboard with an usb receiver.

  24. alex68 says:

    N8 pre-order is 5M according to a source.

  25. Nocare says:

5 million? if it is true, i hope so, the developers will rush to qt site to download nokia qt sdk and start software developemnet for n8
