How to: Hard reset your Nokia N8
If you’re unfortunate enough to encounter a problem on your Nokia N8, a hard reset maybe what you need to do. This wipes the entire phone memory and settings fresh to how it was (or should be) when you bought it. It’s also useful if you’re also unfortunate enough to have to send away your Nokia N8 for repair or exchange, or maybe in future you maybe selling it and don’t want your information/details/media stored onto your device for someone else to access.
Hopefully unlike the N97, the N8 will not encounter hard-reset bugs where we constantly have to hard reset.
To hard reset the Nokia N8:
1) Turn off your phone
2) Hold “Volume Down + Camera Key + Menu Key” and press power button until your phone vibrates.
3) Wait until screen show properly… and welcome back!!

Please note that I found these problems after doing full format:
1. I lost Ovi Maps. However, you could reinstall it by download it here
2. I also lost Ovi Store 2.0 and I can’t reinstall it since it always show “Unable to install”.
So please DON’T do full format if not neccessary or actually I must say that DO IT ONLY AS YOUR LAST CHOICE.

I have not tried this out myself and hope I’d never need to except for the curiosity maybe in a couple of weeks time to see how it functions. I hope to not be an expert of the S60 5th hard reset like the N97 had made me. Grrr.

I am really very very happy with the reset info that I found online. I am residing in Middleast and had problem with my phone N8.. My phone got hang and I was unable to reset.. Since many days due to unrest in town.. Couldn’t get hold of any nokia dealer or any person who could help me to sort my phone. Even the net was down. Today with help of this online info, i was able to reset my nokia phone N8 and i was desperately in need of starting my phone because of unrest crises in middleast. I was not able to get any of my contacts.

after you hard reset, update you software. in my case, my mobile will update the symbian anna and will install the ovi store too.

Would Data present in E drive(16 GB) delete?
what is Tester? my N8 is not ringing when I receive a call it shows message”TesTer finished”. I also cannot access Application and the same message “TesTer fished,”can some one please assist.
after fully Hardreset with formatting the Mass-Storage i have only 170MB on the C:\ Drive available
How i can also complete Reset the C:\Drive
i have reflash with Ovisuite the Firmware but this does nothing about the C:\drive – but if the C: drive have only 100MB available most Apps produce failures about “not enough Memory”

The reset feature has solved my frozen application issue ,and is recomended ,absolutely brilliant !
You don’t need to hard reset your phone. Just press the hard reset combo buttons until first vibration and then leave all of them. Now, turn ON ur phone as usual. That did the trick for me. I didn’t lose any data / settings / any other software.. Best of luck with your N8.

What if you can’t turn off your phone? My N8 stalls in the black locked screen, displaying only the clock (a very expensive watch I think), but i cant “get into” the phone. Hard reset dont work… This is the second time it happens. Last time I let it run out of battery and then recharged it. It worked. I guess all it needed was a reboot, but I JUST RECHARGED IT 2 hours ago. It’ll take a century before it runs out. Omfg Nokia I hate you and your shitty product (except your batteries. They are really great *facepalm*).

There is no hard reset for the Nokia N8… if you need a hard reset like I did on mine you have to send it back to Nokia through your service provider. Sucks.
my nokia n8 is shit, turned off, lost all my data. will not get nokia again.
i restored my nokia n8 and when i m going to reinstall ovi so it show me a massage that unable to install

I have an issue with my N8. The phone works absolutely fine at times however there are instances when i restart my phone, there is an error which says “Startup Failed. Please contact the supplier”. Also there is another issue. I can send/receives SMS’s and can also surf on internet from my N8 but i cannot make a call from my phone. When dialled a number, the phone says “Call disconnected”. I can receive calls though.
Pls pls pls help.
my N8 is bricked, could someone help me to reset it. 3button reset didn’t work for me either. Pheonix software works fine till programming complete, but from then it says unable to communicate with the device, flashing failed error.

Took it back to the shop after it wouldn’t switch back on and i’ve had it back back now since Saturday… About 20 mins ago, I was playing anrgy birds and it froze again!!.. I left it for a few mins and then tryed to turn phone off, put it on charge, plug into computer and even phoning my number off the land line… NOW! it won’t stop Ringing!! screen black!! OMG… I just hope it runs out of charge VERY SOON!! Someone got any other ideas, other then to smash the thing???

Follow this link download the .rar file and extract it then you will got ovi store installer. then install it in your phone. and enjoy the ovi store.. i got the same problem when i applied this hard reset to my nokia c7 then after a lot of search i came to know about this..hope this will solve your problem too
