Wow! First glimpse of Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 Concept.
This just appeared on Engadget (cheers Keith!). Despite being WP7, it’s still very Nokia. How soon until/if we see this announced? What’s it even called? Will it be given an ACTUAL name or usual post code affair? Anything could happen after what we’ve seen today.

Don’t get me wrong but I hated (and still hate) the fact that Nokia has partnered with Microsoft… but still- i cant deny that the phone does look pretty good xD

Engadget says that it’s just a concept. Something that Nokia and MS designers have been working on (like Ballmer mentioned). This might not even see the light of the day. But to me, the phone itself looks extremely beautiful. Especially the black one. But then again, it’s WP7……..:(
design cues are really close to the C7 to be just a concept though I think its an initial idea for a real device that will show up soon.
I really wish they would release this (even though its WP7). I’m sure it would take the North American market by storm and sell really well in the US.
Well Elop is way to stupid, he decided to kill an entire ecosystem without the replacment ready, really bad managment.
hope they bring in Symbian’s Multitasking/bluetooth file transfers/USB-OTG support to WP7 but that’s just wishful thinking
But even if they do, other WP7 OEMs will have access to it like the former OVI MAPs.
Well there will be some things that will be Nokia-Microsoft specific. So if those features are brought over to WP7 and Microsoft brings proper updates to WP7 (including Flash 10.1 and Landscape mode), then I MIGHT consider buying a Nokia again.
Till then, I’ll keep my N8 with me.
yea bascially i am the same lol , so basically if nokia and microsoft can add all the high end features that made symbian great , and make wp7 look nice too , then yea i will consider it

Everyone on this and other forums still talking about wp7! WP7 has not been mentioned in the presentation or in press releases. They are consistently calling the “new” OS “windows phone”. I think Nokia will have a word or two in the developing of windows phone OS. So it’s not far off to hoper for usb otg, real multitasking etc. Or am I wrong here…?
It just means it includes WP8. Whch will take another 2 years. Etc. Meanwhile, current models will stop selling. Nokia won’t have anything to offer (that anyone will want) for the next few years.
I hate to say it but they are SEXY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! would definitely buy the blue one i think.
I have been reading the comments on Engadget which are always a good indication what the haters think and the general consensus is that these are nice.

You have to remember that the main reason why Nokia partnered with Microsoft was to gain traction in the US market, the fact that people are liking it is a good thing for both Nokia and Microsoft.
Exactly whatever people are thinking of this decision, the fact is Nokia where not relevant before the deal was made, every blog made sarcastic comments whenever Nokia news was reported now they will be respected a little bit more by the media and actually get some deals in America.

probably were concepts for meego, but he ordered to copy and paste (advanced technology to copy and paste not avaioable in the new os choosen by nokia) winpho7 on the screen to calm the world, photoshop is impressive.

lets be honest this is just a quick mock-up they threw out… it may have even been another concept Nokia device that they just cut&pasted WP7 onto it…
according to engadget we won’t see the first device by the end of 2011 (that’s elops plan)
In Industrial/Product design concepts aren’t done for fun these are ideas that are used to explore a real device I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this comes out. Its got to come quickly though
Yea, that’s possible. Especially if Elop’s trying to calm down stock market, since NOK is down by 16% in a single day…
Looks just like any other WP7 phone, just a colored back, a “new” OS that can not copy and paste, can not multitask, can not have Opera as browser, can not CAN NOT CAN NOT

They should rename Windows Phone 7 for Nokia as Ovi OS, or something to distiguish from all others, and put a different symbol in the key instead of the windows flag
Metro UI on a Nokia phone… It looks weird. Symbian UI is still the only UI possible for me…

We need rapid software development from Microsoft for WP7 to be competitive right now they seem to slow on updates, we will see if Elop has demanded faster development time on updates.

Update PR2.0 will come, probably PR3.0 too.
I wouldn’t be counting on that. PR 1.1 is still not available to all. My N8 included.
PR 2.0 is possible since it’s so far. But it will probably be even more late now, that they are firing people from Symbian’s development and Symbian is being killed. I don’t think PR 3.0 will come. Why would Nokia waste time on dying OS? It’s all about WP now.
Because WP7 mobiles are so far in the future and that Nokia does not stop Symbian, but Symbian is placed on the franchise.
That’s not what they’re doing though. They have announced the En Of Life for Symbian.
You never, ever do that!! NOBODY is now going to develop any more apps for Symbian. NOBODY (who is not getting a freebie on contract) is going to buy a Symbian phone now. N8s and C7s are already being heavily discounted now.

Imagine you work in Nokia’s Symbian division? Are you going to work harder now, or apply to Google?
The thing is, they could have presented this a whole lot better if they cared, but the way they did this now it is very clear what is going to happen.
Good looking but I put specs as more important than looks. Hopefully it will have at least a 12mp camera, Carl Zeiss and xenon flash.

I hear there is no mutitasking in wp7. Does that mean that if i´m listening to music and i open internet explorer the music playback will be shut down?? that i can not live with!
But i could se my self owning that phone. Not so fond about that you can´t transfer files via bluethoot nor the that you have to use ZUNE to transfer files from pohone to computer.
that will be plain terrible…now we have to start worrying about all that???how can this be the solution?

They haven;t even made a prototype yet. Alex68 mentioned it’ll take about 6 months for them to make a proto for WP7 and then they’ll start working on WP7 for Nokia. Nokia will still support Symbian
But Symbian is getting EOL’d. Why bother waiting for the end of the ride.
Any app developer is now going to jump to the most promising platform (which is not WP7), not wait until Symbian sizzles out.
Symbian sales will plummer after this announcement. Stupid stupid stupid.

I’m sorry, who cares? By the time this is even realized iOS will have another device out and Android would have saturated the rest of the market.

I’m sorry, is there an example I’m missing of MS partnerships working out splendidly? Did I miss the memo that MS didn’t piss away market share while they sat idly by while iOS and Android dominated the market?

They fail to follow through with their vision, and they keep expecting us to fall for this crap?
Nokia just shot Symbian in the head, beat Meego like they stole something, and curb-stomped Qt.
Nokia gave up what’s left of their dominance in the market in one fell swoop and we should help accelerate that if the Board won’t take action.
They can go play with the 30 pieces of silver they got for selling us out.
ok cool, so nokia has retained its industrial design, but what about the software, what about the software.
Ok, it’s a gorgeous phone. But why not run Symbian? The fact is Mr. Elop needed some limelight. He had and announced death of Nokia. Only Michael Jackson had such a commented funeral.

Like previous speaker said. Why in hell i should buy a Nokia Phone with a closed ugly system? Meego was a good innovation, Android for example might have been a stopgap if they think they had to adopt annother OS, but WP7 (or even 8 until they are ready to sell a device) is a coffin nail!
What happens in the last month and has it showdown yesterday with the announcement is a perfect showcase how to bankcrupt a whole company with just one wrong decision!

PS: The only logical explanation for me is that Microsoft plans to acquire Nokia for a minimal share prize to cannibalize their patents portfolio. The first step is down yesterday!

Nice design, but all MeeGo employees should flee over to Aava Mobile (http://www.aavamobile.com/) and create a Nokia Meego that never was!
