Opera Mobile 11 coming to MeeGo and Symbian.
The awesomeness that is Opera Browser (Opera Mobile 11) is coming to MeeGo, Windows Phone 7 and Symbian (and those ‘other’ oses :p)
“The Opera Mobile 11 will bring the music on the Android, Symbian, Windows 7 and MeeGo platforms. As a bonus track, Opera will give the crowd a sneak peek of the new Opera Mini browser doing its magic on the iPhone and iPad.
“In our lineup, all players are equally important–we leave no device behind. Our small and clever pieces of software will give you a 5-star experience, no matter what hardware you prefer”, said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “Android users actually have two different Opera browsers to choose from: Opera Mini and Opera Mobile. Check them out, and decide which one is on the top of your chart.”
What’s in store for Opera’s 100 million users on mobile phones? There is one way to find out: swing by Opera’s meeting room at the show located at MR 319. There are no tickets required, and we will not ask for your age.”
Thanks Terro for the tip.

Just to clarify, the show referred to is the CTIA Wireless show in the USA, and this announcement refers also to Opera Mini 6 as well as Opera Mobile 11, and apparently they are being released at the show and will thus be available for us lot then too, which is in 1 week from now (17th March).
And of course as we know Symbian users have the choice of Opera Mini as well as Mobile, not just Android folks
And finally, just to drum it into people’s heads yet AGAIN, this means Symbian has a great browser comparable to the iPhones or Androids (as it does already with Opera Mobile 10). I know some people don’t like hearing that, but it’s the truth. With Opera Mobile SYMBIAN HAS NO BROWSER PROBLEM AT ALL.
I agree with you in almost everything from your post, however, reading that press release got me worried. Symbian has always had Opera Mobile, BUT, the latest version consumes a lot more RAM (which phones before Symbian^3 don’t have) and even on new Nokia devices with 256MB RAM, if you open too many heavy pages you’ll get memory full notifications (though you can just continue browsing regardless).
This leaves me wondering whether they will continue the Opera Mobile browser for Symbian, considering they only mentioned Opera Mobile 11 for Android. This has got me concerned, specially because “Opera for Symbian” could very well just mean native Opera Mini for Symbian (they currently have it on beta!). But I believe (and sincerely hope) they continue releasing Opera Mobile for Symbian forever (or until there are no more Symbian devices on the market, which I think will take quite some time).
Posted from Opera Mobile on my Nokia N8. And hopefully I will make my next comment here on Opera Mobile 11 soon.
“Opera Mobile 11 will bring the music on the Android, Symbian, Windows 7 and MeeGo platforms.” I think that’s pretty clear enough.
The RAM will kill my Symbian^1 phone. I’m looking forward for Mini and don’t put my hope high on Mobile.
Immmmhh… Thanks for good news.. Lets hope opera 11 bring us to pinch to zoom and integrated flash lite.. If this is gonna happen, opera browser number one in my opinion, like now . Its better than nokias browser..
Waiting for Opera Mini 6.0 for My Nokia 2690.
i still don’t understand. Where is the release date of new opera mobile 11? Or it’s still unknown?
Let’s hope that (unlike Nokia’s release of PR2.0 for Symbian^3) we don’t have to endure months of drum-beating, blogging, pictures of Opera Mobile 11 screens, YouTube videos of Opera Mobile 11 operating on Nokia phones, etc., before it’s released.
Just give us a release date, a change log, and maybe a review of any Release Candidates that folks can get their hands on.
‘Don’t have a release date, change log or Release Candidate review? Well then, maybe there’s no news here.
The only thing 10.x is missing on Symbian is pinch-to-zoom. I prefer the Nokia browser for this feature alone. Add it in, though, and there’s no reason to stick with the Nokia browser. Opera is superior in every other way.
Yes, agreed completely. The only thing that’s holding me back from using Opera Mobile fully.
Love it or hate it, in my humble opinion if Nokia use Opera Mobile as the default browser (plus some reskin here and there) and throw all the resource on elsewhere it would be better.
Flash would be very nice too actually at least to the extent Nokia browser has it.
“The Opera Mobile 11 will bring the music on the Android, Symbian, Windows 7 and MeeGo platforms. As a bonus track, Opera will give the crowd a sneak peek of the new Opera Mini browser doing its magic on the iPhone and iPad.”
They said Windows 7, not Windows Phone 7.
Now that you pointed this out, it really is weird. Maybe a typo? No point of Opera Mobile on W7 lol.
Opera 11 is already there for Windows 7 and yet I don’t think Microsoft will allow Opera to be natively running on Win Pho 7. And non natively Opera team wouldn’t even give a sh*t to get it running…
Maybe I’m just wrong and it’s a typo
Thats true, no Opera for Win Pho 7…
Guess what, Opera GUI build on QT
you must be kidding me… Thats great news. Btw, why dont Nokia just cooperate with the folks over at opera on making Nokia a new browser…
nah… As i come to think of it, Thats Nokia we’re talking about, they have to do things the hard and long way. They know no other way
Should be Included:
Opera should work on pages Image quality,
Bring Pinch zoon in/out,
Bring New themes or colours.
Etc,etc.
I think you need to correct your title
“Yes indeed the press release is correct. It is Windows 7, I know it is a bit confusing but Windows 7 (the desktop OS) is also used on certain tablets and touch desktop devices. This version of Opera Mobile 11 is for the first time to optimized for tablets – hence the connection”
Hehe you got cited by DM
Good news, but please change Opera logo to the new one

love it, currenly used opera mobile 10.1 and opera mini 5.1 beta for symvian.
Lol see this:

Update – Seems that its Windows 7 they are talking about and not Windows Phone 7
Windows Phone. Averagely nice interface. No software support. No functionality. Good luck with that. Meanwhile back on Symbian by far the most functionality of all mobile phones on the planet and great software support (35000+ apps (yes, apps) in Ovi Store, grown by over 5000 in a month)
Seriously who cares for the amount of apps. If we cut it down to the useful ones of good quality, how many remain?! 100 500 a maximum of 1000!? I don’t believe so, only if duplicates count in…
How many Apps do you actually use on your Phone!?
I’d rather prefer an Appstore of maybe 500 Apps the most.
Everything good and useful fits in there.
The rest could consist of Themes, Audio, Video, Text.
oh opera is a usefull app. and its not going to come in wp7. Does wp7 have skype, fring, etc???
So it is lacking many daily using apps.
no mulltitouch or will have the opera mobile 11
Let me know when Opera gets multitouch and you can start calling it the best browser for Nokia’s.
Meego will start off by having Opera Mobile 11 available on it’s platforms,so great, whats more 2 come Meego’s way, endless possibilities.
Been watching Meego Overview on Youtube, enjoying the future of True mobile computing now.
Intel + Meego
i cant wait for it
According to Opera website, they’ll release it in 4 days from now to all operating systems.
so we can wait it on monday or tuesday?

That is funny. I see the Android band member, I wonder what type of character will they have representing Symbian?
Heyyy, nokia browser is not that much bad guys !!!
((
atleast it supports FLASH which is totally absent in opera browsers !!
Symbian^3 needs a FULL FLASH supported browser …and its capable of supporting that…i dont know y der is not a single flash enabled browser for Symbi. previously 1 was der named skyfire(it was just rocking) but they also stopped developing for symbian
So the conclusion is if Opera 11 is not supporting flash & pinch zoom,,then there is no need of that creepy browser !!!!! Lets hope that it will support flash !@
It is ironic that the folks at Opera are bringing their browser to a dying platform in Symbian and a non-existent platform in Meego, but can’t be bothered to bring one to WP7.
Oh well, with IE9 Mobile with full hardware acceleration coming later this year, I will have no need for Opera Mobile on Meego.
idk why they bother making nwer versions of both mini and mobile opera since they dont have flash support on…
