With all the 'fun' that I have had with iphone design, can't say I'm a big fan anymore. And now I think I should have just got myself an ipod touch, as that's what people think I'm using when I use my iphone4. And wonderful isn't it that while my N8 survived a drop of 2m on concrete (rather scratchless), while the accelerometer of iphone stopped working after a little bump in my trouser pocket.

Yes, the iPhone is indeed horribly simple and basic, especially in it's physical robustness and durability - drop an iPhone from waist height and it will shatter. How can anyone think that is good design!? A phone as delicate as a china teacup! Insane. But typical of Apple.

Meanwhile, Nokia build phones to last. My N82 was the toughest phone I have seen in my life, and the N8 will easily survive a 3 metre drop onto concrete.

"Ahh ... Patents ... the glue of evolution."

Maybe in some cases we shouldn't wear our Nokia (or Apple or even Android) glasses and look at these things companywise but as general consumers.

As consumers "evolution" should be our benefit. These patents tend to just slow things down. I believe that there already lots of WOWs in labs ready and waiting ... but before we can see them we need to buy the so called "in between" versions.

Or what do you think?

Surprisingly I haven't had any problems (or scratches) with the HDMI cover, despite a fair amount of use.
