FreeForm widget for Symbian PR3.0/Belle stylie leaked on a Nokia YouTube Channel; could it come to Anna?
Ganesh and Kunwar has emailed us in a couple of images that show the new free form widget UI in the homescreen expected in PR3.0/”Belle”. Cheers also to Adnan for reminder tip.
Oddly, this was leaked on an official Nokia channel, NokiaHomebase. As you can see, the widgets aren’t confined to their usual enclosures, looking much more dynamic than the old style of rigid looking widgets.
However, as you can see, the battery and signal bar are not combined into a single status bar, but are still old style Symbian^3. Does this mean PR3.0 freeform widgets are coming to PR2.0/Symbian Anna or was this just another error in the photoshop department? (Not unlike Nokia to have simulated screen fails :p)
The space wasting bottom bar is gone though, including the indicator telling you what homescreen you’re in. In the PR3.0 preview, there was still a bottom bar present.

Looks good.. but if they remove that bottom bar.. how will they compensate for it? It kinda changes the entire way we interact with Symbian..

The widgets in the N8, E7, and C7 are in the same position. The contents are similar..

The transparency is a theme thing and has nothing to do with the pr version. But you are right about the status bar.

lol fucking no 30FPS video recording, continuous auto-focus option

I may have switched to Android, but I visit here to see where Nokia is headed. I love their build quality and they have much potential in the OS department. They aren’t up to speed yet, but when they get there, I may return to Nokia. You, however, obviously have no life but to come on here and talk shit. Just like a little 12 yr. old punk.

And seriously if development of PR3.0 is going to take as long as PR2.0, we’re schrewed.. At least i know i am cause my contract will be expiring then. Probably on the date PR3.0 is released.
This is more like it! But how long do we have to wait for this? Nokia are masters @ teasing us, but horrible @ delivery! They’ve been teasing us about a portrait keyboard pretty much since the 1st Symbian^3 devices have been reeased. That was about 6 months ago. We won’t get it until the summer. That’s 8 months! By the time the update with these new widgets come around I’m pretty sure everyone will be ready for a new phone. Bottom line, just to keep your sanity, don’t expect this update to come around for your N8 unless you plan on keeping it for 2 years!

I don’t blame him. When i first get my device, i had to constant crashes and bricks. First brick was solved by the care center with a simple firmware flash that took 1 full week =.= After that the problem was not solved either, had to use pheonix to revive my phone over and over again. Till one day phoenix just can’t access the bootloader anymore and i had to go back to the care center. After that THEN they changed the motherboard. So far it’s been working fine..

Puh, I don’t like the tone of these conversations. This used to be a forum where comments actually added more information or ideas to the original post. Now it has become a matter of personal bashing. If it continues like that, soon you’ll have 100+ comments on each post where you first need to filter through all the crap of personal fighting until you get to something valuable. This is engadget-style and will hopefully not become a regularity on this blog.
I agree. None of these “conversations” are constructive. It’s one thing to be critical and to critisize Nokia’s progress (or lack of), it’s another thing to “come here just to laugh” @ Symbian users. That’s trolling. No one wants to turn this into a Symbian vs Android vs iOS flame war. There is a way to compare features without degrading one another!

None of those apply to all of the android phones. The majority of android phones are metal, and it’s iOS where the user’s position is recorded. And I don’t know where on earth you got that half performance thing from.
