Cheers @temeone for the heads up!

Update: Here’s some screenshots in case the video was too quick!

(Look at the top bar, that’s what we’ve seen from MeeGo vanilla from day one. It might be Harmattan but there’s essentially MeeGo influence here)

Let’s look at it closer! It’s pretty sexy!

Ooh, dual led. That’s ok. It’s MeeGo. Someone said this might be EDoF. I’m going to fly to Finland and give someone a slap if that’s true. :s Dear EDoF – you don’t BELONG in the high end. Go the fek away!

Actually it’s 12mp autofocus!

and

Bonjour Keyboard :D It’s out “macbook esque” N9!

More sexiness. Hello!

Symbian Anna Icons! But 4 columns! Yes!

On screen QWERTY.

Windows Phone style minimalistic black background

The hinge

The back

The Maemo style multitasking! Yes!!!!

I love the use of gestures and swipes! Go pictures go!

does anyone know what happend at the athens event yesterday? or is this it?

4. Razor says:

@wes

You’re currently dreaming too much. No other phone has this 720p screen. And why would you want 720p screen resolution on small screen mobile phone? It dosen’t make any sense. I think Retina or qHD resolution is more than enough on such small screen mobile have.

• Nilux says:

retina are you jokin? eyetime

• wes? says:

Well, someone has to be first. Why not Nokia?

I’d be happy with qHD as well and if I think of it again I’d prefer CBD above LCD. Don’t know whether someone can build a AMOLED qHD display at 4″.

The difference in resolution is about 20% from a 4″ 720p 16:9 to the retina, so it’s not something that is such a huge deal…

• Nilux says:

I agree. Actually I was just laughing at the embarrasing names Apple gives normal things, like video conversation(facetime) or a display(retina) just to make people think it’s something new that they’ve invented, even though it’s just normal evolution. Even more embarrasing is that people start to use those names. “Does the N9 have retina or facetime?”

Sorry no intension to insult anyone :-)

Apple marketing tecniques work indeed.

Well Toshiba does say that their new screen will be appearing on a phone This Year

http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/18/toshiba-declares-victory-in-pixel-density-war-367ppi-coming-to/

5. Cloud says:

I know I´m gonna getting hits for that ;) because there are many who apparently love a qwerty keypad…

Are there any infos for a NON-qwerty device e.g. N950 in addition to N9?
I´ve read some posts hinting that there could/eventually will be a touch only device…

• Marc Aurel says:

There was one in the works, but nobody knows at the moment what will come of it. It was supposed to be a MeeGo device with a large screen, something like 4.3″ or even more. However, we already know that there will be only one MeeGo device released this year (and probably ever) by Nokia.

• Cloud says:

One meego device per year would be perfect!…would be.
I think I´ll even wait buying this meego device just to see wheter Nokia will be a M$ division by the end of the year. If Murtazin´s claims turn out to be false then I´ll buy it.

I would love to see/buy the only-touchscreen device and hope for further information…

As you said “probably ever” – that´s the problem with Nokia! I don´t know where the company is headed to!

Symbian dead despite a commitment in Q4 2010,
Qt & meego – almost/perhaps dead?
WindowsPhone success of desaster?
M$ division – yes or no?
Ovi – name gone after a few years

It´s like a ride with a roller coaster…

• Viipottaja says:

AFAIK, the screen is not quite that big.

6. Arnob says:

to all the android fanboys reading this article…go charge your phones.. coz thats the only thing android phones are (damn) good at.. :P XD

7. Yemi says:

I suspect lack of xenon is because of 1080p recording. You can’t use xenon to light up a scene while recording hence the dual LED flash. Going back to my gathered specs, I have somethings confirmed.
4″ CBD either WVGA or qHD
12 MP AF
64GB storage (because 1080p video sizes are huge)
This phone is set to have everything the N8 and E7 has.

Things like bluetooth 3.0, USB OTG e.t.c

Nokia might even give away some at the upcoming meego conference.

• zymo says:

1080p recording? wouldn’t this mean it has a (A9) dual-core cpu? (Or maybe a strong GPU).

• Yemi says:

Most likely single core cortex A9 with Mali 400 MP GPU. The mali 400 MP is in the samsung galaxy s II that can record 1080p

• FireDragon says:

Super, sound very super. I will take one whatever happen to Nokia or MeeGo if it will do basic things out of the box. I like adding or trying out applications but I am not much crazy about them. I be very happy doing simple regular things.

• Viipottaja says:

The reason for not having Xenon has much more to do with space in the casing. The capacitor in the N8 unit is still quite bulky.

8. Yemi says:

Updated Rumored specs:
Take this with a grain of salt. I only searched online and gathered the specs. I took out the ones that didnt make sense.

Operating System: MeeGo (probably Maemo 6 rebranded as meego)
Screen Resolution: 1280×720
Screen Color Depth: 24 bit
Screen Size: 4.0 inch
Display Technology: AMOLED (CBD)
Thickness: 14.2 mm
Weight: 150 g
Input Method: Touch Screen and Slide-out QWERTY Keyboard
Data Bearers: WLAN IEEE 802.11b/g/n, HSPA+, WCDMA, EGPRS, EDGE
CPU Type: ARM Cortex-A9
CPU Clock Rate: 1.2 GHz
Graphics Processor: Mali 400 MP (this supports 1080p recording)
Flash Technology: Adobe Flash 10.1
Camera Resolution: 4000×3000 aka 12MP
CMOS Sensor: 1/1.7 inch aka N8 camera
Camera Focal length: 28 mm
Video Recording Resolution: 1280*720
Video Recording Frame Rate: 30 fps
Mass Storage Memory: 64 GB (most likely if the phone has 1080p recording)
NAND Memory: 1 GB
SDRAM Memory: 512 MB
Maximum Memory Card Size: 32 GB
Connectivity: Bluetooth 3.0, HDMI mini C Connector, Micro-USB(OTG), etc
Battery: 1320 mAh

• FireDragon says:

Not bad, but battery is a pinch. I hope OS wouldnt required too much juice then it be fine may be.

• Viipottaja says:

I seriously doubt some of those, including the screen resolution and probably also CPU.

• zonk0r says:

screen res i doubt.. and battery must be more than that.. once can only hope anyways! the rest sounds feasible.

but for some reason i suspect the processor will be a single core 1GHz kinda jobby!

150g would be pretty light for a metal looking device, with qwerty

9. Julius says:

This is pretty much the same phone we saw pictures of last year; if we’re lucky, it’s 10-11,5 mm thick, 110-115 mm long and 60 mm wide. If we’re unlucky, it will be the same size as the E7; a beast. But why, why didn’t they just make it exactly like Nokia U? How hard can it be? People voted, they drew an awesome concept device that everybody loved, and then they give us this?

10. Eero says:

According to some rumors this would be released as early as the end of this month (May), perhaps at Meego Confress??

11. Doug says:

What’s gonna be the stand-by/battery-life/talk-time for this phone?

I hope it’s up there similar to the really long 28 day theoretical standby of the upcoming Nokia E6!

I’m used to the really long battery life of the Nokia E71/E72/E5.

Prefer a phone with a really long battery life!

12. microten says:

is not meego,is harmattan

13. Now guess work is over here is the final meego confg that i think is bang on money
4.2 inch touchscren
qualcomm adreno 300 gpu
acousitic echo cancelling mic
thats it for now all info i peirced from rumours !!!

14. vacinekilppl says:

I read dozen of pdf ebooks and magazine everyday, does it still come with a stone age adobe reader 2.5 LF?

15. Jed says:

This makes me even more pissed that Elop killed this…
Am so getting one, even if I have sleep with, or kill someone.

16. Shmerl says:

Hehe. Nokia removed the clip from YouTube.

17. Moep? says:

hey,

i watched the video and now i’m asking me:

could it be we’re seeing both, the n9 and the n950?

what makes me think so, is that the first pictured piece is edged (pic 1) and the other (pic 11) is curved like an htc at its back?

18. walie says:

very nice mobile we wait for that

19. Zarsky says:
On Saturday, we will have a full day introduction to Qt, presented by Roland Krause of ICS and MeeGo community member Thomas Perl , an overview of Nokia’s Harmattan platform by Daniel Wilms, and a tutorial/workshop on building community software, run by Niels Breet and David Greaves.
20. crisscross says:

Whats up with the bezel and the screen? Look closer here: https://picasaweb.google.com/meetmeego/NokiaN9#5607934246301048754
Could the bezel be removable? Could it be something neonodish going on in the space between the bezel and the screen?

21. guest says:

Why still the old font? Is it in Symbian Anna or not?

22. speedy.g says:

if have something special to all of you!
look at the last scene of the device when swiping the gallery into the screen. especially watch what you can see on the screen the msecond before the finger gets on the screen… do you see, what i mean? that looks awesome :D I will love this ui!!!!

23. robert says:

hope its new and looks are great. but notice at around 0:39 looks like 2010 calendar

24. vidar says:

But if this is the meego or the harmattan, then why is there no picture behind the menu? just plane black like symbian ;(
