Cannot wait for this phone… Do you guys think they will release it in the US? I went on swipe.nokia.com (n9 website), it seems that they may have no plans to release in US. Correct me if I’m wrong.

    • MoritzJT says:

Also no plans for Germany, only for Switzerland… Doesn’t matter… I’m getting one

    • Tim says:

They don’t need to specifically release it for the US. Like other S^3 phones they have the penta-band 3G chip in it (I still can’t believe not all other companies are using this yet…) so the EU version or Asian version will have the 3g we need in the US.

  2. sam says:

no no no noooooo!!!!!!!!! Where’s the HDMI??????!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. siazshuakme says:

Im speechless with this device……..totally awesome!!! Nice work nokia!

  4. Keith says:

Also has 1GB RAM, no MicroSD Expansion (SADLY!. 720p video @ 30Frames/sec.
No battery or Processor specs given yet. :/

  5. chrom says:

    Does it have HDMI???

  6. SirraH77 says:

    Beautiful

  7. vlgr says:

I don’t see an HDMI.. bit of a fail I would say

  8. fatpanda says:

    front camera ?
    graphene ?
    hepatic feedback ?
    720p resolution ?
    no hdmi out ?
    disruption device ?

i will say though, their music playback times and media support i.e. mkv suggests the processor is the u8500 with the mali chip.

at least the os looks amazing, fluid, smooth and completely impressive !

  9. vlgr says:

unless the HDMI is hiding under there.. http://imgur.com/PGkzN .. i hope

  10. art_vaider says:

It must have poor processor and gpu , cause there is no info about it…

  11. Duncan says:

    - Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR (Enhanced Data Rate)

I am very disappointed, should have had 3.0.

Also it states that the N9 has a physical camera button but it looks like it is in the middle of the phone. wtf?

  12. LoL says:

caf on both image and video

and what is digital shutter,on n8 do we have it?

  13. fatpanda says:

    front camera ?
    graphene ?
    hepatic feedback ?
    720p resolution ?
    no hdmi out ?
    no tv out at all?
    disruption device ?

i will say though, their music playback times and media support i.e. mkv suggests the processor is the u8500 with the mali chip.

at least the os looks amazing, fluid, smooth and completely impressive !

    http://press.nokia.com/wp-content/uploads/mediaplugin/doc/1-nokia-n9-data-sheet.pdf

    Processor: ARM Cortex-A8 OMAP3630 1 Ghz,
    PowerVR SGX530

    Battery: 1450 mA

  15. wes? says:

No groundbraking specs here… Not making me to happy. OMAP3 3630 as it seems with PowerVR SGX530…

    http://press.nokia.com/wp-content/uploads/mediaplugin/doc/1-nokia-n9-data-sheet.pdf

    • guest says:

A bit disappointed. Seems like really smooth though, so not a big deal. It also suggests that the device will be pretty cheap, about 300-400€.

  16. fatpanda says:

    no micro sd?
    no fm transmitter?
    no tv out at all?
    no bt 3.0?
no n8 camera despite only being 0.5mm thinner than the n8.?

    hardware fail

software on the other hand, why did elop join with microsoft again ?

  17. reventon says:

Rather disappointing but still promising in some way.
Would like a heads-up when the hardware spec (cpu dual core? single core? GPU, etc.) is announced.
A few things I would like to point out that I found disapoointing:

    1. N9′s camera is not superior than the N8′s, perhaps a marketing strategy but still, according to Nokia’s nomenlature, the N9 should offer a better spec.

    2. Having a pure touch UI also means we will be missing the keyboard we see in earlier photos… Not all that convenient if the touch screen is not responsive.

    3. microSIM card? Not sure if it will be easier for the N9 to enter other markets aside from europe. Or does Nokia mean microSD card?

    4. Still no 4G support.

    5. No HDMI

    6. No 1080p video recording

Now the design of the N9 is subjective, I find it acceptable, but not all that “sexy”

Maybe I will have to wait longer for the successor of N9…

  18. fatpanda says:

why do nokia do this ?????

what looks like the perfect os, with substandard hardware.

the n8 has more powerful hardware than the n9!

nokia said this themselves that the n8 gpu/cpu combo is the most powerful in the range. the omap was in the n900 already.

when you add in the fx transmitter, the 12

    • fatpanda says:

12MP camera, bt 3.0, hdmi out, micro sd, metal body, etc that the n8 has.

how is this n9 the high end game changer??????

elop has deliberately handicaped this device, there is no other explaination.

      disgrace.

if the n8 was released with this software – nokia would have a world record breaking number of phones.

  19. anonymous says:

kinnda dissappointed… maybe the developers edition will be better…

  20. Tim says:

Dedicated camera button on the middle of the phone, almost at the top? lolwut? That’s supposed to be user-friendly?

  21. art_vaider says:

Where is ST-Erricson dual core ??? lol

  22. blackidea says:

    and,

is nokia wp device will get this (patented) ui too?
do nokia need wp os now?

    • fatpanda says:

      we can only hope.

wp7 has some good points but this multi tasking ui, puts it to shame.

however i would guess not, as most of it was written in qt, which is not supported by wp7, although c is.

  23. fatpanda says:

    no usb otg
    no flash

need i go on, why even bother releasing this.

its hardware is no better than the n900. yes its got a new plastic pink suit, and slightly improved camera, but thats it.

android, apple and microsoft are laughing at nokia right now. nokia have just shown them how to design an amazing ui, in an amazingly sexy phone design, yet ruined any chance it ever had to succeed by pairing this with last year specs.

my god there will be quad core cpu’s phones out at the same time as this is released. hopefully with elements of this ui, and hardware design.

htf has elop got to where he is today ???????

  24. fatpanda says:

just realised, anyone with the n900 with the oc mod will be able to run this ui.

the one piece of good news.

    • erick2991 says:

      ummm i dont know,,,the n9 processor is better i mean n9 :ARM Cortex-A8 OMAP3630 1 Ghz 1gb ram
PowerVR SGX530 vs n900 :TI OMAP 3430: ARM Cortex-A8 600 MHz 256 mg ram, the n9´s processor is much better…of course its not dual core but its better than n900…..i own the n900 :)

      • fatpanda says:

the n900 has virtual ram though, which might help, although admittedly there will be some loss of fluidity.

the processors are the same, only clocked differently ;-)

        • erick2991 says:

well omap 3630 is better than 3430 but yeah i know that the maemo comunity is going to do something about it and will make a port of this interface…they dont give up …anyways ill sell my n900 and i will buy the n9…or the sgs2 i dont know

  25. Ron says:

Great job nokia. Now if the pricing is good… i’m guessing they’d sell this at a very affordable price range. I think they managed to cut down on costs a lot with this one. Very excited to get one around Christmas.
