Screw this I made my mind up. Thanks for such a great product Nokia
Tbh I don’t think the lack of support will harm it, it didn’t harm Maemo that much.
Lokking forward for that browser : 257 points + 14 bonus points
if only somebody confirms about flash support.
There is no adobe flash on the n9……………Its just like the iphone browser .
maybe it’s just me, but not having flash is not really a big deal to me.
Prob just you
I always tend to lay down on my phone and having full flash support to watch embedded videos would be alot better than having to go on the laptop to view them.
I was kinda bummed when I read the N9 doesn’t have full flash support. but the browser does look fast.
N9 supports HTML5 videos and many sites are beginning to use them, so eventually they’ll work. Youtube works with HTML5 already. Flash is not very efficient, so it’s actually better to not have it.
But their is still alot of web pages there run on flash. And quinyx (where i check when i have to work) and other programs on the web runs on Flash.
So for me it’s a huge downside
but i’m still gonna get it
Unfortunately, until then, Flash is the standard. Your “it’s better not to have it” comment isn’t really practical. Try watching the videos in this blog entry on your phone. Would be nice to have the option, wouldn’t it?
Currently there is no flash, but it’s also something for Adobe to think about. Maemo had it so it should not be that difficult to get it if not initially, but in an update.
I’m pissed that i have to wait til the end of the summer to get this thing…
Seems like everyone loves the phone.
Hopefully nokia will see this and support meego more.
this looks like a really lovely phone.
The phone looks amazing. I’ll probably wait for the price to drop a bit before I get it though.
And I hope that there will be an option of directing different swipes to different homescreens, like swipe from the right go to multitasking, from the left events, from the top app grid, or something like that. Always going to the last used homescreen looks like it could get a bit annoying.
Nokia N9 fever…. I hate love nokia….
I don’t like that there is no way to play the audio(YouTube, video, etc…) in the background but this OS definitely had the potential, it’s just the first release and it’s not bad at all, too bad Nokia killed it.
so close… You were 90% positive in that comment.
ha ha… wouldnt have said it better
At least he is learning to be positive !
It’s up to the application to decide, for the default media player it was a design choice to pause it. I’m sure for example VLC will have a setting to allow background play of whatever it is you want to play.
THAT GLARE IS KILLING ME
ANTI GLARE MY ASS
The Drive app in the videos has some error, states qml failure. I believe this is a problem with Maps 3.07 beta, I had nothing but problems with the 3.07 beta and had to reinstall 3.06.
Symbian Maps is different from the one shown on N9 afaik. It’s not yet Qt. Hopefully they will merge at some point though.
Talking about the potential success of N9 and Meego Harmattan…
According to Helsingin Sanomat (largest newspaper here in Finland) in an interview S. Elop stated that there will be no more MeeGo phones from Nokia after N9. Not even if/when N9 would be a huge success.
What is maybe even more worrisome is the point that he speaks mainly about that he believes that Windows Phone will be a huge success. But the point being that he speaks about Microsofts WP7′s success not about Nokias. Do I hear a horse from Troy neighing?..
He is starting to look like an ass more and more in my opinion. Well I’m voting with my wallet, and for sure my next phone is not a WP phone, it will be Nokia though…
Was that interview before the announcement of the n9 on the 21st or after it? He needs to wake up.
Published today. I believe it was made after the announcement.
It’s clear Elop wants WP7 to succeed at any cost to Meego/QT/Symbian!!!
Don’t really wanna get the n9 if Nokia aren’t interested in it. Would have got a WP7 nokia but now I don’t want to support Elop’s agenda.
meh… iphone 5?
Does the power button double as a camera button? In all of the hands on videos I’ve seen they only use the software button.
no
If this phone becomes a huge success and even then Nokia stops supporting MeeGo it doesn’t matter. The success of this phone will lead other companies to take huge interest in developing MeeGo smartphones. So its a win win situation in every way you look at it. Meego will NOT die
I can’t see it being a huge success without Nokia fully behind it.
I should have been the first to buy it but doubt I will when even the people that made it aren’t interested
I really hope this and the N950 won’t be the last MeeGo devices… This OS has real promise and Nokia have shown just that with the N9.
