I’m trailing the X7 right now and I can confirm that the speakers sound very bleak and comparable to E7 or N8, so it’s indeed possible it’s mono sound. Yes it’s disappointing, and yes I’m sad that there’s not much going about the X7 except for it’s design and large, bright AMOLED screen.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I do laugh when I read people saying that stereo speakers matter on a mobile.

The stereo separation you get when the speakers are a few inches apart is minimal, and doesn’t do anything to improve the experience.

Are those really stereo speakers? I’ve heard and read a lot about those being just two mono speakers. AFAIK even a Nokia employee in a german Nokia support board replied the speakers would be mono only.

That and stereo speakers. Its the only s^3 device with stereo speakers. Those matter when you’re coming from the 5800 XM

My largest complain with this phone: It somehow has no really strong and unique selling points.
The N8 is cheaper, has a much better camera, HDMI, more built-in memory, just a slightly smaller screen. Performs the same.
The C7 offers a comparable camera, a smaller screen, maybe slightly worse build quality. Yet it is much cheaper.
The E7 has the same screensize, but offers a CB display. It comes with a QWERTY keyboard, the same camera, HDMI. Only compromise made would be the missing SD-card slot. Yet it has a decent 16 GB internal storage.
The E6 has a unique candy bar QWERTY formfactor, designed for both touch operation as well as pure button operation. It is cheaper, offers the same camera, comes with a larger battery. Main gripe would be the much smaller screen.

The X7 simply misses *something*. If the speakers would be stereo, might come with any special entertainment software pieces or even slightly better hardware, it would’ve been interesting. It is too expensive for what it delivers. Only people who might like the more futuristic/agressive design, the particular 4″ screen while leaving out the QWERTY for weight reasons might see an interesting product within the X7. But I really doubt too many people think like this.

IMO this phone is one of the most disappointing and odd products Nokia has released since S^3 was launched.

Brightest outright, but when turned up to full, the optimus doesn’t do totally black blacks – the X7 does, and still gives the infinite contrast ratio.

thats a pretty sweet screen, wish they had done that in the N8.

Great unbias review of the Nokia X7, unlike PhoneArena, which gave the X7 a score of 5/10 ! They also gave the E6 5.5/10 Thats just madness.
As for the X7, well it leaves me with mixed feelings. According to AllAboutSymbian, the X7, despite having 2 speakers, is only mono. Yep, they said NO STEREO SOUND. How can that be for a music phone? Can anyone confirm this?
Lol Gsmarena said that if this were released in 2009, it would be a killer phone. Which is true. But now everyone has to agree that the X7 is officially outdated. Sorry, but the truth does hurt.
