USA just for Nokia’s Windows Phone -no more low end or Symbian (or N9 either)

This may explain why N9 is supposedly not coming to the US. Apparently, Nokia are exiting their low end and Symbian handsets when their Windows Phones appear in the US.

In an interview with Nokia’s US chief, Chris Weber (ex MS too)

““When we launch Windows Phones we will essentially be out of the Symbian business, the S40 business, etc., ” Nokia Inc. President Chris Weber said in an interview. “It will be Windows Phone and the accessories around that. The reality is if we are not successful with Windows Phone, it doesn’t matter what we do (elsewhere).”

The focus on Windows Phone seems dead serious. It is either very smart or somewhat extremely short sighted (stupid?) to openly show no exit plans for Nokia other than Windows Phone. It is seemingly ALL or NOTHING. In all seriousness, this kind of pressure and focus is just what Nokia needs. Symbian and low end is already meaningless for Nokia in the USA (it’s still VERY important outside though). Perhaps to avoid any confusion, all Nokia’s forces will be all on Windows Phone for the US.
