Nokia 800 Windows Phone pics from PocketNow?

| September 6, 2011 | 63 Replies

PocketNow has grabbed up a couple of images supposedly the Nokia 800 (Windows Phone).

This looks more like SeaRay (which the rumoured 703 also resembles)

If these look blurry, you can always look at Stephen Elop’s accidental hands on presentation to the blogosphere. This is what we’re expecting to be announced at Nokia World 2011

after seeing Symbian Belle, windows is not so attractive to me anymore

    ^^ photoshoped!!!

  3. Keist says:

Windows Phone is a dumbphone OS, even more dumb than iOS. I still can’t believe Nokia went with that crap. I mean what does Symbian Belle and Meego can’t do that WP can? Symbian Belle is superior than Windows Phone in all areas. Who’s dumb that will buy a Nokia Windows Phone?

    • Anastasios-Antonios Toulkeridis says:

It’s very simple actually. If u don’t like Windows Phone then don’t buy one.
Nokia HAS adopted windows phone whether u like it or not. And this blog is about NOKIA therefore such kind of attitude is not welcomed here

      • Luisito says:

So, so… No more Nokia for me (before the N9 and next Belle devices…)

      • HD says:

Well.. Keist seems very much a Nokia lover (Symbian/ N9 lover).. so he is definitely welcome here or any Nokia blog for that matter..
Now about you.. you seem to be more of WP hardcore lover… but that does not mean you should call names to every WP hater..
You know what.. you are more sounding like the whining, crying little iFanboys..
get over it and at least act matured…

        • yiannis postman :) says:

+1 everyone has his opinion..which we should respect

        • John says:

Anyone interested in technology or Nokia is welcome here not just “Nokia fanboys”.

Just because you like Nokia doesn’t mean you are not allowed to criticise Nokia or praise another OS.

Since the 11 Feb announcement there have been a lot of incredibly stupid comments from very clever people on OS’s that have in my opinion degraded the quality of comments on here.

People are allowed to have opinions on any OS as long as they are constructive and valid and by that I mean “This OS is a dumb phone OS” or anything like that doesn’t count.

Your comments actually sounded far more childish. Remember every person has their own opinion and likes and I would like to remind people that.

        • Anastasios-Antonios Toulkeridis says:

-”Well.. Keist seems very much a Nokia lover (Symbian/ N9 lover).. so he is definitely welcome here or any Nokia blog for that matter..”

Nokia’s primary OS is now Windows Phone, NOT symbian/meego. And i did not say he is not welcome here, i said his WP-hating attitude is not welcome here. Why would i visit an iOS or Android blog and tell them how much i dislike it? What’s the point of that? THAT is the definition of trolling behavior.

-”You know what.. you are more sounding like the whining, crying little iFanboys.. get over it and at least act matured…”

Why would *I* be whining/crying?!!!! The OS *I* support has a future

          • N00-00 says:

Nokia’s primary “Smartphone” OS is GOING to be WP, Symbian is still it main Smartphone OS. And if you want to compare OSes, S40 (soon to be blessed with Qt) is going to be their MAIN OS with a billion device planned..

Moreover, Nokia’s deal is MS isn’t a permanent one. If they don’t make it a big way by 2012-13, Nokia has a clause to get out of this agreement.

Besides, MS is the one promoting WP. They have a history of stopping support for OS (especially in the mobile domain: WM 6.5 and Kin). So the future of WP isn’t as assured as one can think of.. They may very well stop if WP doesn’t make much inroads in 1-2yrs time…

Another point is WP is getting the support from Steve Ballmer and everyone knows how MS’s share have performed under him.. So he may very well get the boot if WP fails considering he has almost spend $500m promoting WP.

            • Luisito says:

MMMM… you sir are right, MS has a secret behaviour about a product that can’t gaint the “expecte” traction, and that is if it didn’t make stop it a erase off our product lane history (who remenber MS Bob???… Even more recently, Who remenber Kin Phones???). Of course there is a twist, and it’s that idea of Smartphones and Tablets replacing the PC as main device to eat content (some crazy people insist in the idea of Tablets replacing the whole PC)so Microsoft will push really hard to take a piece of the cake (like they did with the Xbox 360 on the game console world).

Off Topic: When is right to apply the term Smartphone to a device???… What is an Smartphone and what caracterist make a device an Smartphone???… Because if you ask me an Smartphone must have a File Manager. So what is your idea of an Smartphone???

    • oho says:

They don’t have an ecosystem! :)

  4. kekekeke says:

Your box of Windows FAIL has arrived.

Symbian Belle + MeeGo + Qt or go home!

    Fire Eflop NOW!!!!

    • Anastasios-Antonios Toulkeridis says:

I don’t know who’s more stupid, you or those who gave u +1

      • Bas says:

        haha good one +1

      • yiannis postman :) says:

      • pep says:

        actually its you

      • GordonH says:

        I think u r stupid or blind or elop’s bitch….
My point calling people names doesn’t change the fact the Elop and co. should have handled Nokia without killing meego.

        • Anastasios-Antonios Toulkeridis says:

          what’s there to kill?

        • Dan McGuire says:

WP7 is the smoothest OS on the market right now, it’s like butter. Meego has no future. Yes, the N9 is still the most amazing phone I’ve ever seen and it dose make me wonder why Nokia don’t support it. Nevertheless, whining here wont make Nokia support meego they are now WP7, I think this is a decision that could either make or break Nokia. I will be buying a WP7 device, it might not be a Nokia because I can’t wait that long, but I am buying it because it has a future.

Lastly stop calling people names and grow up.

          • me says:

Indeed, like rancid butter that you want to throw away.

Almost nobody want to buy that – almost no one buys Windows Phone 7 (yeah, and those who do are mostly MS fans who indeed would even buy a Kin).

Like two of a Kin, Kin and Kin 2 (= Windows Phone 7). Both out of the market before 2013.

    • Markk117 says:

Ok meego and Qt are powerfull and easy but, MS know how do and offer a software product, in less than 6 months WP and MS services has grown a lot faster than Symbian and Meego without services.
Try a WP and look of what i’m talking about, offer mutch more than a symbian device, in terms of usability, UI, services, stability ecc…
WP is a good choice for nokia, they don’t have to waste.

      • pep says:

what additional things they offer compared to symbian belle and meego?

        • Markk117 says:

a lot of things that work fine and easy when u need! a lot of symbian features is slow and some times crash, give to MS time and they release a great OS, symbian in one year done 1 crappy update (anna) and a good update (belle), MS in one year do a OS + services, server, infrastructures, api, toolkit, dev program. plus, WP now is the only OS mobile that have a voice command reconition that work well, camera used to augmented reality, scanning books ecc that effectively works. The other have only concept or beta, thik about it, give MS time and you’ll see usbotg and other things

          • John says:

            +1 completely agree

          • N00-00 says:

I do hope you remember MS’s history? WM was a decent OS but with added features, it too got slow and buggy… The same is with iOS and Android.. And as a software programmer, I know that when the code-base gets bigger, the stability takes a hit..

Moreover WP is not an all-new OS as everyone thinks it is.. It is still based on a old windows CE base.. And the current iteration and even Mango to an extent is as feature-rich as it is..

            • Mike says:

Well, according to your logic, Android and Meego both are very old cause Linux was developed in 1993. Can’t a kernel be updated?

      • jiipee says:

That kind of comparison does not make any sense anymore after the CEO of only major Symbian manufacturer declared the death of the platform in front of the the most critical audience.

This does not mean, however, that the end result would have been any different, evenif I would expect it to be.

Afterall Qt is still high in the rankings of mindshare after February Elopcalypse
        http://nokiagadgets.com/2011/08/19/developers-interest-grown-for-meego-and-decreased-for-symbian-and-wp/

    • KPS says:

+1000!!!! Meego and Symbian rule all!!!! Support from corporations HUGE!!!! BRIGHT future!!!!! Oh wait….no support, no future…epic fail.

  5. adit38 says:

so nokia 8xx mean not their most high end like n9-00 right??

  6. stylinred says:

the white tag on the first pic with the pricing looks very much photoshopped

  7. wes? says:

330€? nice price. Still I’ll most likely wait for the N8 successor…

  8. John says:

Oooohhh its getting close now with all the leaks coming out,

I am getting excited :-D looking forward to using a Nokia windows Phones :-D

  9. Rebbe says:

I think these pics is from som sort of advert… Thet are not meant to look real… A nokia facebook campaign for windows phone?

  10. oho says:

Definitely a Photoshop! Look at the table of the first picture and the shadows of the box! It’s very obvious!

    • John says:

Oh yeah you make a good point. Although it could be designs for possible displays.

      • Harangue says:

        That^

It isn’t uncommon to see renders of store fronts, or convention stands before a real one is even made. Cheaper that way.

Still though, this could very well be a fan made item. Especially that image of mashed potatoes makes no sense whatsoever.

  11. Ron says:

    looks so fake.

  12. N00-00 says:

    Very interesting….

Whenever something happens on the Symbian-Qt-Meego front, Something happens on the WP front..

Nokia announces N9 to much appreciation: Sea Ray gets “accidently” leaked by Elop.

Nokia announces Symbian Belle: Nokia 800 and 703 WP devices information leaks…

Hopefully, when they release N9 and Belle, I at least would get a glimpse of the Nokia WP device… :D

  13. Jesse says:

Ugh, just release it!!! I am getting so impatient for a Nokia WP7 device!
