Microsoft mentions new Nokia Sabre with Nokia SeaRay

| September 30, 2011 | 38 Replies

Winrumours reports that another Nokia Windows phone is coming along side Nokia SeaRay and it would be called Nokia Sabre – as in sword (or lightsaber/sabretooth). This was apparently outed by Microsoft Canada, who in the terms and conditions for Mango application mentioned both SeaRay and a yet unknown Nokia Sabre. It has since been removed.

“The type of Windows Phone 7.5 will vary and will be selected at Microsoft’s choosing (examples include Samsung Yukon, Samsung Wembley, NOKIA Searay and NOKIA Sabre). Wireless carrier and wireless service not included. Activation terms and conditions are at the sole discretion of the phone manufacturer and wireless carrier.”

As for details, nothing much known. Apparently it has a 3.7″ screen.

Cheers mrprince for the tip.

I loved the times, where phones where just numbers… reduceable to an item, nowadays they want to give it a personal note… WHY? Names for items are stupid…

  2. sd2 says:

wiat, are they going to start naming their phones like the Asian cartel ? Lame..

  3. mprince says:

So that means that they’re planning to ship Nokia WP7.5 phones to Canada soon!? Awesome!

    • Fanel says:

That’s actually the bigger news for me. For sure I thought Nokia would avoid the Canadian market until 2012 at earliest but this is a sign that perhaps they will bring their first Windows Phone to Canada in Q4 2011 so I don’t have to get it unlocked overseas.

      • deep space bar says:

elop is canadian you forgot so he’s doing his best to make nokia and wp7 relevant in canada….which has already failed lol…. Nokia is not usin their own os so it’s not unique anymore and two…. Windows sucks

    • migo says:

      For developers.

    • StylinRed says:

uh…. @ most id only expect a couple week delay if @ that from the US release as with other devices

  4. Babis says:

i dont mention the platform wp7 as this can be made and for symbian or meegoit … but … should name it star wars for the young customers

  5. Paulysworld says:

Umm, well, guys/ladies wp on Nokia is for North America, that means Canada too eh! Just saying.

  6. BellGo says:

.. So erm, all we know of this phone is the name and that it will be running WP?

    ..Ok.

  7. Cloud_Connected says:

Will this sabre also be produced by COMPAL?
When does the COMPAL part end and the NOKIA production start? Does anyone know?

    • jr says:

Why should it matter? All you should care about is the quality fo the phone.. some of you talk like you on shares in Nokia

      • Cloud_Connected says:

It matters because I want the high quality standard of nokia phones (good build quality, speech quality like the C7-00, X3-00 or the N9 which is built in finnland). Sure there are some negative examples of nokia in the past, but after doing a bit of research I´ve always found a nok suiting my expectations.

I don´t have any experience with compal phones thus far and as a consequence I´m a bit skeptical on that part. I only know that they´ve built laptops and macbooks, but Id on´t know of any phone that´s left it´s footprint…

    • llaadd says:

Please try to keep it in English so we can all understand.

Google translate gives some odd translations, can’t tell if that’s Persian, Arabic, or something else!

  9. StylinRed says:

also fitting in with the sea-life/fish theme

  10. DGui says:

WTF. I tipped a full hour before him… And I have an image that shows it…

    Sabre is really ugly.

  12. jr says:

Does it come with a Sabre to slash Symbian fanboys?

  13. masood.alkhter says:

names are better…………..thank god nokia has stated that. fuk numbers, ur just a number to me lol

  14. DGui says:

It has a 3.7 inch convex AMOLED display and looks great, has 3D voice-controlled Maps and I’m taking a guess here and saying it’s the first WP Nokia to launch as T-Mobile Germany is already getting ready for it to be released… :)
