Leaked Pic: Is this the Nokia 303? With portrait slider QWERTY

| October 2, 2011 | 27 Replies

This morning, we posted about the Nokia 303 leaving a review at Ovi Store/Nokia Store for an Angry Birds app.

We got a response from someone who would prefer to be called, “Anonimus”* about what is apparently this Nokia 303.

The screen somewhat bothers me a little as the faces in the thumbnail are oddly squashed.

It might remind you of another blocky slide out, the Nokia X5. See it below. With a portrait screen though, the QWERTY is narrower. Like, say a palm pre in design. This is still QVGA, as noted before on Ovi Publish, portrait of 240×320. This will be running S40 6th edition FP1.

  • 3.2 Mpx fullfocus
  • Up to 32Gb with micro SD
  • Wi-fi
  • Touch&Type (QWERTY)
  • HSDPA
  • 3.5mm Jack

If it’s a fake, it’s somewhat quite elaborate. Note, just pointing out the obvious but being 3XX this is of course, a very basic phone, so no nigh end features to be expected.

*Yes, I’m aware that it’s not instead ‘anonymous’.

the name does not make any sense though, but it’s an girls centric phone obviously, i think it might be good when it comes out with the more specs.

  2. realtechie.. says:

it’s fake dear look at the ovi store icon.

    • Glenn says:

means nothing, could be its running an old version of ovi store which has that icon

      • realtechie.. says:

no dear i just bought the new c2-02 and it was already having the new nokia store icon which is blue and the one which the s60v5 had got after updating their store.

        • Slayer says:

just because you got the new store icon doesn’t mean 303 has the latest version

This is true. 303, if a real device, was probably designed before Ovi-debranding was done. This leaked picture is probably an old render to show what it will look like.

On another matter, Jay, when you say

The screen somewhat bothers me a little as the faces in the thumbnail are oddly squashed.

It might be that this pic is ~20% wider than it should be. If you edit it to be a bit narrower,
            1. thumbnails and icons are square,
            2. circle in copyright mark is round,
            3. Nokia logo/name still looks ok and
            4. keys on keyboard are narrow like in E71, not as wide as in X5-01.

        • Shamus says:

Why do you call everyone dear?
          That’s kinda creepy…

  3. BellGo says:

Hmmh. With a good price it could do quite well.

  4. Neil says:

The specs looks good for an S40 phone. 3G with WiFi and touchscreen. Make it a capacitive one and budget users will be surely buying it. I wonder though how do you play Angry Birds on that.

  5. aikon171 says:

    functionality similar to X3-02

  6. Viipottaja says:

Touch and Type is a great move from Nokia (unlike some Russian blogger was suggesting IIRC…). This will probably sell a lot, like the s40 qwerty phone I forget the code name of now. :)

  7. Slayer says:

It could be the X3-02 (302) successor.

  8. mike nokia team says:

the nokia 303 its true come for third week of november in a price $1999mx and is a variant of nokia c2-02

  9. DGui says:

Is it just me, or does that screen look off. Doesn’t seem to look as if the screen’s aspect ratio is 4:3… In fact I tried comparing it and it’s not 4:3 at all… And the word ‘Communities’ looks squashed… And then the Ovi Store icon as mentioned by others too, all the other icons are modern, why use an ‘old’ icon set just for that one?

  10. Doug says:

Wish Nokia built more portrait QWERTY keyboard phones as wide as the X5. Everything else is too cramped.
