Despite the price, the Nokia N9 captures 3 of the top 4 spots on Expansys’ top selling smartphones list.

Whilst we’re here, Nokia’s online shop for Nokia Hungary has the Nokia N9 officially on sale.

Cheers yoyo and LVPVS for the tip!

LOL who buys the Mytouch 3g thats an ancient phone.

Anyway good on the N9, nice to see a Nokia device doing well, although how many average customers are going to buy a phone full price on Expansys, so it might be a little bit misleading, but I could be wrong.

I kind of want both the N9 and the SeaRay now, I am torn. The price of the N9 is too high though.

      Same for me here:

I´ll wait what Nokia is going to show at Nokia World on wednesday. Then I´ll decide.

BUT…I think it will be the N9 despite the lack of apps. If apps would have been crucial to me then I wouldn´t have bought the C7.

And if there is a regular support (updates & more) by Nokia I´m not cencerned about the future of my N9.

      • kam says:

there’s already an 1.1 sw update comming to N9 (reliability, performance, polish and features that slipped the schedule) and 1.2 update in the making (new features)

      • migo says:

I wouldn’t be so sure. I picked a Nokia 5230 over other options despite the lack of apps because of the importance of good RF performance. If I’ve got a choice of good RF performance and good RF performance with apps, the choice is pretty easy.

    • eze says:

we aren’t average customers. i bought the 5800, the N8 at full price consecutively.
and like many others, we moved to the states and have very decent jobs and can afford to spend $800 on a phone.
so i am not surprised the N9 is a top best selling phone, but i wouldnt be buying this until it has a decent number of apps (that will take some time)

    • dfssdg says:

This is one of the cheapest phones with touch screen and android so it sells well.

  2. lovenokia says:

    nokia is making a comeback!

  3. Deep Space bar says:

someone clearly didn’t see this coming and it was their names are elop and ballmer …friggin loser messed up Nokia huge….they didn’t need another OS cause they have two of their Own

  4. Scelero says:

Hmm, if you go to expansys and check the new releases tab there are magenta and cyan versions of the N9 64GB…

  5. Ash says:

Now this is really something. With hardly any big promo stunts to help it sell and despite the price, people still buy. But then again, word of mouth and good reviews from almost every tech blog is just as good if not better promotion for a product.

    • migo says:

Expansys isn’t really representative. A flagship phone like the N9 can sell well among the hardcore crowd, but that doesn’t say anything about selling at the volume Nokia needs. N9 level sales would be great for a company like Xiaomi.

  6. Anjanu Sonkar says:

Nokia…dont know whether to smile or cry

  7. Tom says:

Negri Electronics has it for cheaper in the USA. Although, the black 16 GB must have just sold out for now. $690 including taxes and shipping for the 16 and $812 for the 64. It shipped the same day I ordered and should arrive in a day or two for me.

  8. Viipottaja says:

Excellent for Nokia! Would be nice to know how many phones does that convert to. And obviously will have to see how long it stays up there in the charts.

  9. bruce says:

I don’t get why everyone’s so obsessed with how expensive the n9 is…
I paid 780 for a 64gig one, where as a mate of mine paid over a grand for a 64gig iPhone.
One of those is quite a bit cheaper to my eye…

    • Paul Grenfell says:

      probably thinking of resale value..
      I think its fairly priced..

    • OSagnostic says:

I think the N9 is overpriced. The iPhone 4S 64GB (which is also overpriced) is £699 or $849(US).

      • stylinred says:

the iphone 4s 64gb is $1499 on expansys and in Canada it is $850cad from the apple store

        similarly priced as the N9

i agree the n9 should be cheaper but since it isn’t being offered by Nokia here and only 3rd party retailers we would expect a price hike

  10. Diogo says:

MeeGo will begin with more shares than Windows Phone!
    :-)
    And now Elop?

    • yasu says:

“MeeGo will begin with more shares than Windows Phone!”

Highly unlikely unfortunately. However, in Q2 when Symbian sales collapsed they went to Android and iOS. I expect Q3 to be the same, since Ballmer still couldn’t bring himself to disclose the sales of the OS that will save Nokia this quarter

      “And now Elop?”

He is strengthening Android – which is ironic. Android is tipped to reach 50 million handsets in Q3 (and in a lower measure iOS) and over 50% worldwide market share according to my estimations.

      • migo says:

Android was on the way to that no matter what, to the extent that they wouldn’t even offer any concessions to Nokia to bring their services in.

  11. h says:

change the title to “even after so many nasty tricks by sh.tty elop n9 sells like hotcakes”

  12. zlutor says:

AFAIK NO 64 GB variant will be available in Hungary… :-(

  13. Nabeel says:

About the price issue, i don’t care as if they really dont produce any more meego devices, its a piece of history and i want it. Secondly i just checked the price of Iphone 4s on expansys, whopping 1564 dollars!!!!!!!! for 64 GB and 1224 for 16 GB!!!!!! talk about pricey and millions have it!
Im still waiting for expansys to send it to me, pre ordered it in August. From canada!

    • Adalbdl says:

The iphone 4s is just 16GB is just $650 dollars in the apple store sim free… I would like to get the n9 but at $750 usd for 16GB is a little bit too high at expansys.

      • Nabeel says:

Exactly, so if nokia had their own store here, it would have been much cheaper right

        • mark says:

It probably would have. But if they were targeting the US market there would have been more sellers, when the n900 came out I was able to get it for for $420 from dell cheaper than both amazon and nokia.

  14. gjggj says:

will the nokia searay be priced lower than n9? otherwise the public will think the more expensive the product is the better the device is!

elop, take note of that if you are here. price drop of n9 after nokia wp7 shipping!

    • ssdh says:

Well, of course.. Elop is willing to sacrifice Nokia as long as he is able to sell WPs.. After all, he is more concerned with expanding the WP ecosystem more than Nokia’s own…

  15. bobhyde says:

I am pleased to see the N9 on sale in the US.

Not to burst the bubble but as the N9 is not available through any carrier in the US so it’s no wonder the position in Expansys lists.

We need numbers of sales relative to other high tier devices from all distribution channels.

Also be nice to know what the initial targets for sales and the current sales.

That would be a better measure to show if Elop under estimated demand.

Expansys in the UK are still waiting for estimated delivery dates from the Nokia factory.

I wonder if Nokia are having problems making N9 (parts etc) and the effect of ramping up the Nokia 800 production on supplies.

  16. StefanP says:

Looking at ALL products, there are still 3x N9 in the top 9! Means they must really sell considerable amounts.
I wonder when those 92,500 are finished. :)

  17. kamuscasio says:

You can buy an N9 for less than USD600 in malaysia.
There’s a malaysian online shop called ipmart.com which sells it for USD540.

  18. ssdh says:

    Cyan baby..

  19. BellGo says:

…And Elop killed this device.. God how I hate his decisions…Sigh.

  20. jonnyjl says:

I know I paid out the butt on Amazon.de (I’m in the US). I think it will be worth it, if only to own a little piece of technology history.

I’m out though, Nokia and WP is just ick for me. At least for the foreseeable future. Anything can happen.

Nokia keeps talking about Ecosystem, how about forging partnerships with Google, Amazon, Facebook, and yes, even Microsoft, etc and being the poster child of an open ecosystem. Where people get to decide what services they want to get in bed with.

    • Pachino Pulido says:

      how much did you pay?

      • jonnyjl says:

You don’t want to know. Lol I’m embarrassed.

Oh well, I have it and been playing with it for a few hours… I have to say… I love it.

I only wish Google+ and Google Voice integration will come :)

Oh and Opera or Firefox (which I believe is coming). Default browser is fine, I just prefer Opera UI. Firefox is fine too.

  21. Jcar302 says:

Can anyone comment on the warranty policy of expansys.
I had seen another post that suggested that there is some kind of substitute warranty in place for the n9 but haven’t been able to confirm.
    Thanks,
    Joe

  22. Ajmal says:

Any other trusted online shops in Malaysia which has unlocked N9???

  23. Pachino Pulido says:

I just got my Nokia N9 from expansys like 10 mins ago. Cant wait to go home to fire it up!!!

    :D

  24. Jcar302 says:

Just got an email from mobilecityonline saying that the n9 is now in stock.
But the page states, NO US warranty.
