Nokia N9 successor on roadmap?
Very quickly again (I’m simultaneously getting dressed to leave as well as blogging). There’s rumours of a Nokia N9 successor? A couple of days ago, jipee tipped us that a Finnish blogger mentions something about a N9 successor on the roadmaps. So N9 is really not the last? What with all N9 reviewers praising the [...]
Phone Arena’s Nokia N9 review (+Video)
Hi guys, very quickly this is Phone Arena’s Nokia N9 review. There is a text version and a video below. Just rushing out at the moment so I can’t do the usual summary. It’s in four parts and just skimming through it, it looks like yet another positive review for the N9. http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Nokia-N9-Review_id2861 [...]
Video: Devs – what to expect at Nokia World 2011
Here’s a video showing what to expect at Nokia World 2011. Apparently we’re going to find out ‘messaging’ and see the ‘really sexy new devices’ as well as seeing Nokia’s partners and what they’ve done on the Windows Platform. Reggie Hutcherson oversees the developer engagement programs at Nokia for Windows Phone, and he recently sat [...]
The Nokia N9 review. Part 2.
In the first half of my review, I was thoroughly impressed with the hardware aspect of Nokia N9. Now it’s time to dive into the software department of this unique phone, and things are starting to look even more intriguing…
Video: How it’s Made – Nokia Maps 3D
Here’s another in the series of How it’s made, Nokia stylie (well not really but it seems to be like it). This video explains how Nokia put together the incredible looking Nokia Maps 3D. It’s a pretty awesome video. Great job Nokia! Car to capture panoramic pictures, it will (I think a different one) capture [...]
Video: Samurai 2 on Nokia N950
Check out this cool looking game for the N9. It’s Samurai 2 for MeeGo Harmattan, (so N9 too) Great looking graphics and appearing to be quite responsive. Video by knownokia
Welcome ‘All About Windows Phone’
It is a sign of the times. What you might consider the Godfathers of the once epicly huge Symbian community, Rafe Blandford, Steve Litchfield and team of All About Symbian have opened the doors to their new venture – “All About Windows Phone”. It’s not the first time there has been a spin off [...]
Video: How it’s made – the Nokia N9 (“The most beautiful phone ever made”)
Have you ever watched those “How it’s made” programmes, showing you common objects and the process behind making them? Well, check out this video from Nokia showing things like the drilling and hollowing of the polycarbonate unibody shell and how the different components are put together. You don’t get the characteristic narration of the ‘how [...]
Symbian Anna officially available in USA (N8/E7/C6-01)
Larry emailed us this morning to share the news that Anna was available in the US (Finally, yay!). That’s a photo he sent us above. I wasn’t sure if that was official (or a non US N8 getting update ‘early’). Yvonne from Nokia (who has been updating us on the Anna availabilities) has just emailed [...]
Nokia going Metro: New Conversations website
A few days ago we ran a story about Nokia’s Conversations website being down because of upcoming changes. Those changes have been made and the site is now back up and running in time for Nokia World 2011 on the 26th. One thing immediately becomes clear within seconds of viewing the site; it looks a [...]
Offline Maps and Public Transport directions in Nokia Maps for iOS and Android.
Vaibhav from TheHandheldBlog reports that Nokia Maps for iOS and Android now supports offline maps as well as public transport directions. He says it has progressed from the limited experience we saw some months ago. Check it out at: m.maps.nokia.com There’s also POI info. That’s pretty cool given this is a browser based Nokia maps [...]

SlashGear’s Nokia N9 Review (+video) – double punch of compelling software and beautiful hardware.
SlashGear’s Chris Davies has published his Nokia N9 review. http://www.slashgear.com/nokia-n9-review-23190157/ It’s a whopper of a read. Here’s the highlights of the text review. There’s a video too! Chris notes Nokia’s usual excellence in hardware in previous devices, just lacking in software, often wishing it had Android. Now on N9. Hardware, “Nokia has certainly excelled itself [...]
WP Market Place on 35k, Over half of Android devices sold now under MS licence
WMPoweruser reports that the Windows Phone Market Place has reached the 35,000 mark. The last milestone of 30k was reached about 7 weeks ago and WMPU notes a slowdown was due to the run up to the Mango update (more stringent approval, mango app requirements). Now they say it’s back on track to get 1k/week. [...]
MyNokiaBlog mentioned at iltalehti.fi
@Tuira90500 tweeted us yesterday on a Finnish story to check out. It was from iltalehti.fi, 5th most browsed website in Finland (home and heart of Nokia) according to Alexa and is the third biggest tabloid in Finland (says Wikipedia). So it’s pretty awesome to have a mention here to some Finnish audience. Like the last time we [...]
All About Symbian’s Nokia 700 Review #Belle
Steve Litchfield from the awesome AllAboutSymbian reviews the Nokia 700. One of four Belle ready phones in Nokia’s portfolio. This was announced back in August along with sisters 600 and 701. The fourth most recent addition being the 603 (hopefully we can all keep up with the numbers). Steve says the prominent speaker is quite [...]
Nokia Lumia 800 sample photos, f/2.2
Mark Guim has found some Nokia 800 sample photos. The full size isn’t available – it may have been directly uploaded from the phone. It details the Nokia 800 as the Nokia Lumia (perhaps SeaRay will remain its official code name, not used in retail, like N8 vasco). We have seen Nokia Lumia name before. [...]
