Lumiappaday #47: Survivalcraft demoed on the Nokia Lumia 800 #Minecraft

Ah, Minecraft. Do you know it? Have you heard of it? Heavens, have you played it? I don’t get the appeal myself but apparently millions do. Videos of Minecraft creations keep appearing on youtube and considering what it takes to make a damn stick, it’s well certainly impressive. So on that, I thought I’d share an app that allows that kind of game for your Lumia.

There are several minecraft clones available at marketplace, the one I’m showing is called Survivalcraft. I’m a Minecraft noob so I don’t understand the differences but it looks like minecraft stuff to me. Plays well enough though I really don’t know what I’m doing, especially on the crafting side (like what combination of what turns into something else).

For me, it seems well laid out. I can move about fine, look around, jump etc, and mine. It has received a lot of positive reviews on Marketplace by people who seem to know much more about Minecraft than I ever will so I’m thinking it’s covering a lot of the original game’s bases. I guess if it had help tips for noobs I’d probably find it more appealing. I just read from the reviews what to do with the craft table I randomly came across :).

This is the fourth release of Survivalcraft, and it adds craftable furnace and smelting. It should run faster, look prettier, and it has new rock types: tough basalt, bright limestone and smooth marble!

In this release the following major features were added:

  •  Furnace & smelting
