Weekend Watch: Nokia surprises T-Mobile Windows Phone super salesman with true Las Vegas experience

I heard about this video but hadn’t watched it yet. Joe was apparently T-Mobile’s most enthusiastic Windows Phone rep. We know how critical these guys are at being at the forefront of consumer sales. They’re knowledge, info and direction can lead to sales going one way or another.

There’s been several reports that a lot of sellers just go for the easy option, the familiar iDroid or something. As a thank you for this enthusiasm for the Nokia Lumia line, Nokia took Joe to CES to give him a weekend VIP treatment. Awesome! Great unexpected amazing everyday thing.

Elop makes an appearance in the video too. It’s not the usual official, serious scene; it’s a light hearted and quite humorous part (especially since most leaders in tech are rigid and don’t seem to be people that have fun in their job).

Wow! That’ll certainly give some of the other reps pause about dissing WP. Even though they won’t give everyone something like that, even perks like if you promote WP enthusiastically you get a free Lumia ##0 when it comes out and a year of free service with the carrier as a personal phone instead of just a demo line, to be kept even if they leave their job, would help things out.

Now that he has won, he’ll go back for the easy sales (iPhone, Android). In any case, trips like the one mentioned here are what a company needs to spend money on when you have millions of advertising dollars but a product that nobody wants.

They need a Perk system like Intel has with their “Retail Edge” program (allowing you to purchase intel products @ cost)

Awesome, now if Nokia would send my MWC invite +airway ticket I’d be a happy man.

Jay, you should really filter out some of these constant WP7 (or any strong) hate comments. It’s getting really annoying (yes, I enjoy reading the comments here too, not just the posts).

    Elop’s memo to stores:

If a person sells a Nokia N9, he/she gets fired!

I really like when companies do it for regular folks, like this in-store salesman instead of some douche executive, who doesn’t appreciate it at all but gets it all the time. Plus this is not the first time that Nokia is doing it. I hope they will sill have some moral-boosting events at Nokia for employees. They badly need it after years of losses.

What a mess, so lets see, Nokia have aitvce development on at least 4 different forks atm. Symbian, Maemo 5, Maemo 6 and MeeGo. You've already taken heat for leaving legacy devices behind and now you're doing it again. N800 series left on Maemo 4, N900 series on Maemo 5, next N series on Maemo 6, and then the one after that on MeeGo? Nokia in some form will either have to make a clear case for developers how this will benefit them in any way, I have a feeling the development community won't be following your every whim.No matter what kind of compatibility there's between the different linux flavors it not only looks really poor from a consumer standpoint, it must be a freaking mess and humongous waste of internal resources at Nokia as well.I realize this isn't your choice, but I have a feeling someone very high up at Nokia is totally clueless. I for one know that I won't test & maintain apps for 4 different target platforms even if they happen to share GUI framework.
