N9Apps: CutePress ( WordPress App )

| February 2, 2012 | 20 Replies

Seeing as MyNokiaBlog is powered by WordPress, I thought it would be only fitting to bring a WordPress app to your attention.

I was looking at Nokia Conversations and I found this app. ( Also a WP version is on the site. See source for link.) I really like it. It is simply to use, and great for us bloggers who need to post when on site at a press release.

In fact, this post comes from the app. I am not sure if it is due to design, but the only limitation I have come across is seeing posts prior to the day you log in. The app allows for tags, images, videos, links, quoting, etc. All the main features you use on the desktop site, is right there in the palm if your hand. You can set up multiple sites as well, which is quite a nifty feature. It even lets you schedule and edit posts!

It is a great little app, and the fact it allows you to upload images directly from the device, is quite something. Definitely recommend it to anyone who has a WordPress, or WordPress-powered, blog.

Available for symbian too. Great app

  2. Mendax says:

    Hey Mike,
This may seem like a silly question, but I can’t figure it out for the life of me: how do you change the N9′s alarm clock tone?
It was so simple on Symbian…

    • Michael Faro-Tusino says:

I had trouble with this at first too. Go to clock and create an alarm. Towards the bottom, there is “more options”. Hit that. This gives you the ability to change repeat, snooze and the tone.

    • ArtV says:

Go to your clock/alarm app -> Pick an existing alarm (or create a new one) -> click “more options” -> choose desired alarm.

    • Mendax says:

      Thanks, guys!
I’ve changed it to the N8′s stock alarm, which still remains my all-time favourite alarm tone.

Great to see more quality apps like this for the N9.
Easy to feel a bit left-out by Nokia et al nowadays.
But little releases like this help soothe the pain.

can u access blog from blogger via this???

  5. Shaun says:

This has been out for a while. I still think it’s a pity the developer used Metro graphics instead of the native Belle/Harmattan component style.

    • Jamison says:

Hey yeah I just noticed that.
      WTH… No thanks…
Not that hard to follow SwipeUX guidelines.
If they’re not going to bother, I’m not.

    • Why do you think that?
There is nothing to pity about its just that I liked those icons an I used them [PERIOD]
I don’t understand why the hell people want everything so monotonous.
Although will try to add option for using default icons if I will be doing further development :)

      • Jamison says:

If you’re developing the app for Maemo6x, then you should follow the UX guidelines.

It’s not that hard, but if you don’t want to, then that’s your choice.
        If you choose not to…
Then it’s clear that you don’t care much about Maemo6x users.

That is what he meant when he said “it’s a pity”.

        • hahahaha…Are those guidelines defined by users???
And yeah, I don’t care much about those users who are always whining about something or other.
This is why there is nothing to pity about its the matter of like or dislike

          • Jamison says:

It was a serious response, not a personal attack.
What did you think I was saying???

“Are those guidelines defined by users???”

Of course not, they’re UX guidelines.
            Every mobile OS has them…
You are a developer aren’t you?
            Here you go….

            Cheers.

          • Jamison says:

            Lost In Translation?

            • Yeah…lost in translation. You can assume that if that makes you happy…
I know every mobile OS has them but its not written anywhere written one can’t make apps without following them. And no one is paying me so that its necessary for me to follow these guidelines.
Also, I’m not asking everyone to use my apps if you like them use else its well & good!

              • Jamison says:

Well that’s kinda the whole point.
You make the app appealing, & people will gladly pay.

Making an app that stands out is easier for Maemo6x than it is for iOS/Android/WP.

You just need to apply some love/tenderness, & users will respond in kind ;)

Anyway I was just stating the obvious.
(In case it wasn’t that obvious to you)
It wasn’t meant as a personal attack.

Apologies if I caused some kind of offense.
