My Dream Nokia #43: Nokia Lumia ‘Coffee’ Tab Windows 8 concept
My Dream Nokia #43 is another Nokia tablet design. This one as a few of the others has the N9/Lumia style design but this one reminding me of the N8 too (perhaps the black ends on the blue edges?). This design is by Tristan who wanted to have a bit of fun speculating on what the tablet might look like. Check it out with those Nokia Purity in-earphones. The scattered coffee beans are a nice touch
.
The camera isn’t in the middle but in the top left corner (so not impeded I guess when held in landscape with two hands). I’m not sure if those buttons are hardware or appear with the Windows 8 swipe. There’s even a nice picture below where its set in natural surroundings.
- Lumia “coffee” tab
- 1.4GHz cpu
- 512Mb ram
- 16/32/64Gb storage
- 9.7″ AMOLED “clearblack” display (1280×800)
- 8Mp Rear camera, 2Mp front facing camera
- Windows 8 tablet edition
- Wifi/3G connectivity

About “My Dream Nokia”
I’m sure you’ve dreamt up your PERFECT Nokia device/UI. What it would look like, what it would feel like, what features it would have. Why don’t you share it with the world? Or at least with other Nokia fans
.
It could be your own photoshopped or rendered work (seriously, you don’t need mega skills in either, basic paint job is often enough to convey a concept) of your dream product.
SEND this in similarly to tips@mynokiablog.com with the title “My Dream Nokia” and perhaps the model number (and a little description, maybe a few specs in the message area? Though this bit not necessary).
Who knows, maybe an image might flutter over to Nokia and through whatever route end up being real.

Yup, something along these lines would be fantastic. Btw, I was fiddling with an iPad2 the other day and damn is the UI/UX limited.. hardly any use of gestures. Of coure, I do expect Apple to upp the ante considerably with the next iteration of the iOS.. I mean IMO they have to to really keep leading the pack.
i got my mom an ipad2 and playing when playing with it some things are still quite buggy/lacking especially when trying to highlight text/using the magnifying glass etc
safari could use some work and the zoom in function of the OS/scroll is a clumsy
but the tablet is very quick and there are a lot of apps to play with
My only comment is that the 1.4ghz and 512 RAM are the current limited windows phone specs and that a tablet would have greater spec, especially in the RAM department.
It looks like the Booklet 3G lid+N9+N8 end caps….I’d buy it with the right CPU and GPU combo.,
Yeah actually Windows 8 is opening huge number of doors for the SoC’s.
From multicore ARM to X86 Intel chips.
you haven’t seen the ubuntu tablet than….W8 aand WP8 have shit on it just like android…this is gonna be funny when no one buys their tablets and phones like what’s already happening
http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/242853/canonical_to_expand_ubuntu_for_smartphones_tablets.html
This is what i’m waiting for
Yah an Ubuntu tablet is going to take off…
better the windows in alot of aspects have you even used ubuntu in the first place…cause it runs circles around windows
OK… how exactly? I’ll grant you Ubuntu is a lot lighter than Windows but that comes at a cost.
Ubuntu’s Unity interface evolved from their Tablet Edition. I know a lot of hardcore linux types that will laugh if you prefer Unity to Gnome but, well, I do.
If you’re a Windows Explorer fan then you’d obviously prefer Gnome or KDE which somewhat ape Windows but coming from a Mac, Unity is simple to use and almost as slick as a Mac. It has obvious Mac and iPad influences. The Unity launcher with it’s context sensitive HUD and lenses fit a tablet well.
I think it transfers to tablet form factors much better than Windows Phone has to Windows 8 which is essentially just a live tile view panel over the top of same old Windows underneath.
Furthermore, Unity, IMHO, works well on a desktop too. It’s certainly not without rough spots – it is Linux after all – but even with them, it’s leagues ahead of what Microsoft are showing and more powerful than iOS.
Would I buy an Ubuntu tablet though? Probably not. At this point tablets are still expensive toys and the iPad rules for apps and battery life. I’ve an iPad already and it rarely gets used any more other than web browsing or reading Flipboard.
I’ve used Ubuntu plenty, I also use BackTrack as well for Linux and do a fair amount of scripting when needed.
I dualboot it if needed. I found I liked Ubuntu only because it was free, once I took that away I found little reason it was better than Windows, not saying it is bad, but other than price I can’t say it’s something the average user would be clamoring for.
Windows 8 tablets could and likely will be awesome. I don’t say this as a fanboy trying to prove something, I say this as someone who really only uses their iPad as an eReader and who wishes it could do a lot more for the $700 pricetag.
There’s going to be so much work you can actually get done on a Windows 8 tablet, that all fanboyism aside, when you factor that into the amount of Windows PCs out there, it will be huge.
Also to say Win8 tablets will fail and then reference the amazingness of an Ubuntu tablet in the same phrase, shows that maybe we all have our prejudices, despite how smart we wish we sounded…
i’ve bee using ubuntu for 4 years and it gets more support from the devs than MSFT…the progress for ubuntu is amazing and everything just works even though you download a few things it’s works MUCH better than windows ever will..even my sister, mom, friends and my ex have said the same thing about ubuntu(linux) IT WORKS and it’s more efficient and WAY more User friendly than any version of windows….and doesn’t crash like a blind man at the while like Windows ..and the GUI is customizable just by a simple download and install something that Windows wont be able to do unless you download 5 programs just to do it and as well Terminal and coding and the Ubuntu Software Center…AMAZING everything is there that they can provide for the Users…..i’m sorry to say but if the Linux Team was as money hungry and driven like MSFT,Apple and Google…they would be dominating the Desktop and Tablet markets from years ago….and another thing…..BUSINESS SERVER are running linux cause of the severe shitty Security holes and viruses Windows comes with XD so by all means with window if you want to be inclosed
Well good for you for being pumped on Ubuntu, but any unbiased person knows they both have strenghts and weaknesses.
Also business run different OSes on different servers, due to the set up of the operation and which other products they use. Linux is a great alternative but there are needs they can’t fill. I don’t care what you say or whatever about companies being money hungry, but Microsoft does a lot of developer outreach and they have an awesome ecosystem for businesses. Not to mention great industry standard software (for a reason).
I mean I work in the tech industry and make my $$$ by using all my options available and trying to know what’s going on, but I can tell you I’m done arguing. I really don’t want to sound rude, but when anyone wants to argue with me how one Operating System rules and one sucks in absolute terms, I usually discredit them as not having anything truly useful or thought provoking to say.
excuse me great industry standard…..with the notorious BBOD,shady hardware and lack of good updates…please that the main reason why i moved to linux i don’t want to deal with their pathetic attempts to suck in the masses …..the bigger the company or dev team the lazier they get and MSFT is LAZY as fuck….Linux get lots of updates Via KDE,Gnome and Unity..And more but you wouldn’t know any of this cause the generic OS is the best one apperently..>.> so slack it’s not funny….on everything except wasting money which is what they are the best at
I believe you have proved my point.
Great renders
But you know, this using Windows 8,guess it will need more than 512 mb ram..
yeah, 512mb is way too small for tablet
I kind of went with less ram since the ipad2 zips along nicely with just 512Mb, but as its been mentioned i guess windows tablet is gonna need a bit more!
I did have in the back of my mind the worst case scenario specs where nokia just use the 800/900s components in a larger case like apple did with the original ipad.
If it’s going to be ARM based and not run normal Windows applications, you might be ok but what would be the point in a Windows 8 tablet that could only run Windows Phone apps?
Now it DOES look like a giant iPod nano
I suppose it is nearly impossible to make a product which distinguises itself from every device (laptop, smartphone or tablet) from the latest years. All tabs are just enlargements of the smartphone version, this one is based on the Lumia design. Very nice I may add.
iPhone > iPad
Samsung Galaxy > Samsung Galaxy Tab
Except Blackberry doesn’t do it :p
i want this
Nice design too bad that it runs shitty tiles os…..How about this tablet having unlocked bootloader and what if some Linux genius guys port Android with MeeGo’s swipe ui?
Or MeeGo with an Android JVM on top – probably easier.
Irregardless on the specs stated. What I like about the current Windows concept is that it does really define the word ecosystem worthy.
Correct me if I’m wrong, let’s say I have a presentation off-site and no doubt there will be amendments or corrections. I come home, automatically WLAN connected, and update it back to my PC (which is also under the Windows platform).
Whoa laa!!! I’m good to go, instead of converting files all the time which I find it very time consuming.
Tiles are still ugly. I tried using one, but i’m still not attracted to it.
Great design, I realy like it. Nokia has a winning industieal design going on. This concept clearly illustrates what a great potential Nokia’s current deign language has.
Looks.. beautifully gorgeous
Nice render btw!
If this design for a tablet ever comes to life, it will sell like hot chocolate.
There’s a lot of MS/Metro hate in this section. IMO, running Zune player in such hardware would be drop-dead gorgeous. And on a final note: congrats on posting such specs. I’m beginning to think that the whole world believe specs and features are everything.
Really? I thought even the Windows Phone fans hated the music player?
maybe it would be better if you install the qwerty keyboard dock like asus transformer
Looks like a great form factor. Only a few issues i would have, or should i say questions:
1. Would there be a centralization of the Camera ?
2. Would the AMOLED screen be of the slightly raised orientation be there or the flatter form we’ll be seeing in the Lumia 900 ?
Other than that, make it less that 0.33 inches, a quick processor (ARM) ,Metro UI Windows 8, and we’re ready to go. Looks pretty awesome.
good tab i like this.

Really nice concept. Like the styling. Breath of fresh air for the tablet market? I would buy this. All that’s needed now is to get the price right . . .
Why not Nokia Super E90 Communicator,
Vaio p sized,
2Ghz quad core,
2Gb ram,
8″ 1600×768 inner display,
4.6″ 1600×768 outter display, :-p, with a qwerty keyboard, thats nice, qwerty inside and outside,
I think if the outter display placed right in the midde it would looks nerd,
So i thought it was the keyboard that will be right in the middle,
Then the outter display and the qwerty will looks a little up but not too close from the upper edge,
It would have 3 camera,
Primary camera on the back like E90, would be 16Mp or more, just to get htc titan II attention, :-p
Second camera would be on the inner display, 3.2Mp,
Third camera on the outter display, 3.2Mp too, so it will up to us to open the lid or not,
I can’t use photoshop, so i just describe it,
Why i want Nokia Super E90 Communicator?
Cause a gadget with a latest specification will left after a view month, cause there will be a latest more,
But a gadget with art like E90, as time goes by it’s going classic, of course if the hardware can last like a car machine, :-p,
My dream gadget,
A vaio p look a like that can send sms and make a call, and do all the task without open the lid, it would be Nokia Super E90 Communicator, he he,
Hope nokia make it,
Nice concept.
Can you do a nice concept for a Nokia Windows phone with hoizontal slider keyboard?
This is needed so much. Nokias product development sucks.
Want!
Nokia COM!
If it looks anything like that, consider it sold! Nice concept.
It is the best i had ever seen.
