Nokia N9, Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 900 nominated at Engadget Awards, Smartphone of 2011

There’s three options for you to vote at over on Engadget. You have nominated and managed to get not one, not two but THREE Nokia phones into their best smartphone category. Unsurprisingly there’s three darn good Samsung’s there, the iPhone, 1 Moto and a couple of HTCs.

I’m not exactly sure why the Lumia 900 is there as it was announced in 2012.

Related to this perhaps :p Jokes.

Cheers Prashant for the tip.

  1. Windows Phone sucks! says:

    Nokia N9 for the win!

  2. Heron says:

No prizes for guessing whaich device will win IMO.

  3. migo says:

That’s pretty much a shoe-in for the iPhone 4S. The Samsung vote is split 3 ways, as is the Nokia vote, HTC is split 2 ways, Android 5 ways and Windows Phone 3 ways. If we’re lucky the 900 gobbles up all the potential 800 votes, and most people go for the 900 over the Titan, and the split Android and Samsung votes might let Nokia get in 2nd place with the N9 or 900, but that’s the best we can hope for.

  4. benjimola says:

the N9 is nominated because it looks like the lumia 800/900… other than that it would have been left out.

    • Jill says:

Have you got any idea about what you are saying ?

      • benjimola says:

no one cares about the N9… the only reason media covers it… Its because it looks like N9 and yes it came out first. but no one talks about it except they want to make a statement talking about how it looks like the Lumia 800.

        • Jill says:

Ask those who have it .. you will be amazed to know what it is ? **

** Not Applicable if you are a fan of ecosystem

        • dr_zorg says:

The N9 design was in the pipeline long before the 800 was even on the drawing board.

          You fail at trolling.

        • Vidyutron says:

It look like that you don’t know much about the product history of n9(it’s ok:() but don’t make blank and pointless comments here..

  5. MoritzJT says:

    Awesome:

Mitt Romney as Robot of 2011!

    :D

  6. dr_zorg says:

Uh, what? Lumia 900 isn’t even out yet, and wasn’t announced in 2011. What are Engadget editors smoking again?

  7. symbego says:

    Hmmm, three way face off!

    Microsoft’s vs Apple’s vs Google’s bribe money.

    Poor N9…

  8. incognito says:

    Results so far:

    6003 (31.5%) – Apple iPhone 4S
    4258 (22.3%) – Samsung Galaxy S II
    2491 (13.1%) – Samsung Galaxy Nexus
    0904 (04.7%) – Nokia Lumia 800
    0710 (03.7%) – Samsung Galaxy Note
    1387 (07.3%) – Motorola Droid RAZR
    1414 (07.4%) – Nokia N9
    1181 (06.2%) – Nokia Lumia 900
    0278 (01.5%) – HTC Titan
    0479 (02.5%) – HTC Sensation

  9. symbego says:

Lumia 900 should be excluded from the poll, it is announced on January 2012, & not released yet. The poll is smartphone of 2011.

IMO, chance for N9 is slim, it isn’t released in the US (engadget homebase) & it is forgotten by the maker. Still great if N9 get > 5 %.

    • migo says:

have to agree with you there, but it’s Engadget, and they never let things like facts get in the way of a link-bait headline

    • Jay Montano says:

Yes, I completely agree. As mentioned in the post, the 900 is technically 2012 based on its release date and should not even be an option in this poll.

In order for a Nokia to get anywhere in these votes I’d recommend voting for the N9.

    • incognito says:

If I’m into conspiracies, I’d now speculate that Engadget included the Lumia 900 so that they have an excuse not to include it in awards for 2012 when it will be more widely known and actually have some chance… *whistle*

True, the N9 has the best chances of the bunch atm., but follow voting on any given site and you’ll notice hordes of kids voting all day long, even on IP-restricted vote sites such as GSMArena (they use Tor and similar anonymous proxies to vote 1000s of times a day). That used to be Apple fanboy favorite past-time a few years ago, now fandroids have completely overtaken them – I wouldn’t be surprised that SGSII actually beat iPhone 4S there. Case in point, on the aforementioned GSMArena, SG Note received almost 10k votes in a day – mostly 10/10/10 which propelled it from 8.2/8.3 rates to 8.6 all around – while having less than 30k non-unique daily visits. Contrary to that, at one point the N9 had 8.5/8.6 all around and became #3 on the total ranking list, then in a day it got 1000s of 1/1/1 votes which brought it down to 8.3 all around and effectively disqualified it from the ‘game’. I accidentally noticed those shenanigans one day when I visited GSMArena more frequently as some guy had a problem with his N9 so I was waiting for him to better explain it…

Anyway, hoping for ‘victory’ for any Nokia device is, I’m afraid, wishful thinking. I mean, I’m sure there are Nokia fans that have nothing better to do than engage in petty rivalry with fandroids, but the numbers are working vastly in Samsung favor. Then again – I feel pity for those that base their opinions on some arbitrary voting scheme on the interwebs. Sure, given the number of readers, getting a significant place on the Engadget awards list is a great marketing, but still…

By the way, at the moment:
      1902 (9.4%) – Nokia N9
      1358 (6.7%) – Nokia Lumia 900
      1094 (5.4%) – Nokia Lumia 800

      Leads:
      6085 (30.1%) – Apple iPhone 4S
      4343 (21.5%) – Samsung Galaxy S II
      2524 (12.5%) – Samsung Galaxy Nexus

        whistle +1

  10. Prasenjit Bist says:

only some people whose brains are stuffed with shit shit specs will talk of specs of 2011. wtf u mean by that u mean specs that really matter or non sense specs like dual core quad core.. i give a damn to it… that does not enrich my experience…..

  11. satchmo says:

    windows phone defense squad UNITE!!!

  12. S2Korpio says:

Well, that’s an obvious flame bait that one. I’d vote for the Lumia, but I won’t click that link.

  13. Ali Alomary says:

N9 has bigger screen 3.9 while lumia has 3.7. Nokia n9 is open source and has secondary camera. Lumia does not. N9 came before lumia. It will be fun If you know how to play with it. N9 is really nice but I can’t wait the next update.

  14. Ergonpandilus says:

Excuse me, but wasn’t Lumia 900 released in 2012, NOT 2011?!!

Well in any case, my vote goes for N9. Lumia phones so far cannot match it, but maybe the next wave Lumia phones can offer something unique.
