Video: Qt QML Components running on BlackBerry PlayBook

has a neat video showing some Nokia N9′s Qt QML components on the BlackBerry PlayBook (another very gesture optimised device). You could think of it as possibly parts of N9 in tablet form. As Nokia fans are aware, the history of Maemo lies in tablets anyway.

Qt Components are building blocks to create application user interfaces. This particular set are the same ones that power the UI of the Nokia N9, ported to run on the BlackBerry Playbook.

This port took me around 2-3 hours, most of which was spent learning how to get things running on the Playbook itself.

Cheers ftw for the tip!

I reckon Nokia should release an N9 successor.

i reckon nokia should release a meego tab (enlarged N9).

and go after apple app developers as they do have the best apps.

but nokia brings its strengths to the table which other devices dont have..

how much i would love to see a meego based 7-8 inch tab.
by the way, i own the playbook and the reason why i bought the N9was because i was used to swipe gestures but the swipe on the N9 and the UI is more attractive and easier to use IMO.
the app list on the N9 is infact better than the playbook.

the playbook released its 2.0 upgrade yesterday but im a bit disappointed as the device still lacks certain language packs and lacks some good apps (like skype) which i like ot have as i travel a bit for work and it is nice to have to chat with family and see the kidz.

unfortunately, i think RIM has missed the boat with the PB and i think it will eventually die out.

i will probably get a new tab in the future. would like to see if apple releases a 8 inch ipad as rumored and want to compare to Nokia WP tab although i dislike the WP tiles.

the ipad has the best apps hands down but i really dislike the restrictions but the app content is just amazing as they literally have the best apps.

Look at how smooth the ui is.

RIM needs a UI framework like this to stem market share decline. Qt Mobility is a great framework but at this point I am not sure if it will be enough to save the company. I am familiar with iOS, Android, WP7, Symbian and BB development tools and BB is by far the worst. iOS is the best IMO with WP close second. If it is not for low quality of Qt Creator, I’d put Qt QML in this group as well.
