808 Pureview up for Pre-Order in India

| May 20, 2012 | 31 Replies

Quick tip, anyone itching to get their hands on the 808 can now register online via Nokia India to preorder/be informed once it’s available; frankly I’m surprised it hasn’t launched yet in India, but from what I understand the first countries to get it will be the MEA region (Lebanon, Jordan…)- first time we ever get a phone first. As a matter of fact the launch was a week or two ago and they’re just waiting for the shipments to arrive now.

Go ahead and pre-order yours here:

Thanks to Prashant for the tip :)

    • Arun says:

if its really 40k then bye bye nokia…charging triple the price of 700/603, which have the same processor and ram and os…so 40k for the camera and a few added features? please get the price right for once, for god’s sake…

      • mahesh says:

as far i know the initial launch price is around 32k.. :)

      • twig says:

How much would a comparable camera, camcorder and recording equipment cost you that would match the quality of the 808? 40k might be a good buy.

        • Arun says:

it gives results comparable to and outclassing point and shoot cameras. I could just get a 10k 603, and even a 20k digital camera and it’d still be less than 40k. 32 is a bit more reasonable…

“it gives results comparable to and outclassing point and shoot cameras.”

Err “some” but definitely not all…
There’s still plenty of stand-alone cameras that are far better at a similar price.

Its time to say goodbye to nokia….pureview ..

IIRC Lebanon was the first country to get the…… X3-02 :P

  5. aboodesta says:

I called the nokia store here in the UAE and they told me my phone should arrive this week. Most probably either today, or tomorrow :D

  6. Dave says:

Not to be a party pooper, but that is not an official Nokia website.

It’s very nice that they deeplink their privacy statement to nokia.co.in, but according to whois the domain getnokia.in is not affiliated with Nokia.

    • Jill says:

I think you are not aware.
Its there in the main nokia site as a sub-site.

      • Dave says:

Ah it really is. Guess it’s some third party marketers or something then. Doesn’t matter, important is that it’s genuine.

        Thanks for clarifying.

  10. asahi says:

the UI would be more appealing if the icons are in 4 columns. when will nokia make such?

if they were able to do it on nokia n9 with slightly smaller screen compared to 808′s, why can’t they do it on the later?

    • James says:

      You’re kidding me right?
The screen might be slightly bigger but the res. is much lower.
Many more smaller icons would not look as good…
Edges would be slightly jaggered compared to a higher res/PPI screen.

      • asahi says:

        Are you serious?

Nokia X7 & E7, with symbian ana or belle, has 4 horizontally placed icons/shortcuts on the homescreen (on the lower part). These icons are not jagged, contrary to what you’re saying. Note that both phones have exactly the same screen sizes & resolutions as 808.

So if those 4 icons in 4 columns are smooth on the home screen, I don’t see any reason for them to be jagged in the interface. (btw, i call the screen showing all the icons interface. i am not sure though, it’s just for the sake of this post).

        • James says:

The differences are there to see….
Put a screen with the same PPI as the N9 next to the X7/E7 & you WILL see a difference.
It’ll be subtle but it’ll be noticeable.
