Nokia USA bringing Nokia 808 PureView on June 18th 2012? 06.18.12
The facebook page for Nokia US has been posting the something about 06.18.12.
Monday the 18th June. What do you reckon is going to happen?

Now, there’s supposed to be a ‘major’ MS event on the 18th but let’s ignore that for now.
Some think it’s something to do with Nokia Maps. Well sort of.
The main speculation by Nokia fans is that it means the Nokia 808 PureView is coming to US. This is significant given Chris Weber previously said it would only be WP in USA.
Good thing that they decided to go against that as the world deserves to experience PureView.

Weber has most recently mentioned in an interview that Nokia is going to be bringing the 808 PureView to the US. Perhaps this is the date.
808?
808?
I like it. Reminds me again of N9seconds challenges.
Cheers JamesSB for the heads up.

Nokia 808 Lumia® with WP8® ? hope they could bring Kinect® to WP8® that will make iphone like baby toys .
¶ Who need a touch screen ? ancient hominid ? Kinect® design for modern hominid ¶
Verizon talks about a revoluton coming.nokia teases with a picture of a TR-808(the revolution-808).microsoft talks of a tablet.all on the same day.put it together it’s a pureview nokia/windows tablet with verizon as the carrier coming to the USofA.
Why would anyone sane put PureView tech on a tablet? If you are going to carry a huge-ass device with you to take pictures, you might just as well buy a proper dSLR.
Then again, after the past year and a half, one does get to question Nokia’s sanity…
desperate times.. anything is possible.
I really hope they start selling the 808 trough amazon with NAM warranty..but I can’t make sense of it at all, why would they do it in such a “public” manner .. there are just too many things against that.
Oh man, I need to save my money! I want this phone!
Mary Jo Foley says it may be a private label(Xbox) tablet made by Nokia or a series of tablet/eReaders. Perhaps why Nokia has been saying they are looking at tablets but nothing has shown at the last win8 tablet/ultrabook is because they already have this deal. Bring the 311 to the u.s.
Last electronics show.
Pureview doesn’t necessarily mean a huge sensor.could be a 20mp sensor delivering 8mp and 5mp pics.nokia promised pureview with smaller sensor and a 20mp sensor would fit nicely on a tablet.
NokiaUS posted part of this album cover a few hours ago.

YEY 808! Nokia music comming to US also?
*coming
a round of miller lite for everyone if this happens
Miller Lite?!? Can we have a beer instead of dog piss? *whistles*
Even tho I’m not in the USofA (haven’t been across the great pond for quite some time) and not particularly interested in 808PV as photography (and Symbian) and me have parted our ways a long time ago – for the shear achievement of it crossing the Atlantic pond, and to save you peeps from suffering the Miller Lite rainwater, a round of Pavel Kwak on me
hah.. just kidding! I am not a fan either.. for a while now I satisfy my beer cravings with this amazing liquid:

Its really good. I haven’t tried Pauwel Kwak and I am pretty sure it will be quite hard to find in the US.. but if I see it..
And you should get the 808 just for the pure engineering marvel that it is. I see it as a milestone in smartphone photography.
Such a shame that avg. American do have to go through loops n’ bonds to get a half-decent beer. Miller, Bud and the likes overrun the market and pushed out everything that was decent there, and unless you find a specialty shop or a small (and good) family brewery near you, you’re pretty much sentenced to drink dog piss…
As for the 808, it is an engineering marvel but I really have no use for it, and gifting money to Nokia after all of this seems counter-productive to me. It is not as if they’ll be either saved or revert their course if a handful of us, technophiles, buy the 808PV.
bud, miller and coors dominate every store here, but the good grocery stores have a lot of imports and micro brews available now which is really nice. plus the liquor stores are starting to sell better beers as well, however, finding any Jelen Pivo is pretty much impossibly unless you go to one of Chicago’s massive liquor stores. Slivo is plentiful here though
Seeing as I already have an N8, i wasn’t planning on getting the 808, but the camera is just too good to pass up. It would replace my compact and serve well for traveling and bars, parties, etc… Besides, you know they wont put that big of a sensor into the Lumia PureView as to not make it too bulky.
Given that the Roland is Audio related I am hoping it is the announcement of some additional Audio functionality for the Nokia 808. Maybe something to do with MIDI,or a new application that links in with other devices in partnership with Roland? That would be clever.
Well, now NokiaUS Facebook has released a “PUREVIEW. LIKE.” image.
https://www.facebook.com/NokiaUS
It must be something PureView, then. Anything other than the 808 would indeed be a surprise.
Now the updated: “808 reasons to be excited about Monday”
they’ve got a new banner up on NOKIA US
it simply says “PUREVIEW. LIKE.”

This is even better than the carrier boycott. Which is real of course.
As real as: Nokia will never bring the 808 to the U.S.
Speculation time… Will Nokia launch the 808 in the U.S. through a camera chain? I have hard time seeing they got a carrier on-board (or even tried considering Symbian’s history, unless T-Mo)… but perhaps some deal to bring to a large camera chain, perhaps as a tripod bundle or something.
That is really the big question, is it just coming in through Amazon and the like or will a carrier like T-Mobile be involved, here in the states it really makes a difference, unfortunately.
Just writing this with pureview 808 and have to be honest. Camera IS better than the latest sony cybershot BUT ui is worse than lumia 800 which I have and to compare to. Also the browser still sucks. Pro is that compared to android or ios or wp, you can pretty much do anyhing you want, only meego outdoes this. No matter what anyone says 808 needs a higher screen resolution, it was a big disappoinrment to first fire up the phone and see sample pics on the display so crappy…
To be honest camera and Gui is way better than Lumia. And Gui does not make the quality of a photo which is something better than my Nikon D90 in most of the cases. I have spent 1200 euros on my Nikon D90 with optics and it’s huge. I can’t think how great the 808is regarding this. Else is that the 808 is very smooth has good browser and including as usual alternative browser Opera 12. Everything works fine. I can watch 1080P movies from all kind, then also on HD TV on hdmi. It’s also a very good phone. It puts to shame the iPhones and Samsung Galaxys who are out of range (I tested against an iPhone 4S and SGS2) when I can still make or receive calls.
However the 808 is sold about everywhere in my country and is a gigantic failure. The salesman of a huge company with plenty of stores all over the country and a web site told me they sold only 3 808 in a week. All the phone companies stay away from Nokia and especially Symbian can’t be sold with any subsidy. They retrieved all existing Symbian applications to their services (like TV) which you still pay for in any data plan. It is said Nokia have to give away close to for free its Lumia Phones to have them subsidised by the phone companies.
So nobody buys Symbian anymore whatever they are able to do better than the other. You are even considered unaware and out of the touch with a Nokia. It’s not good for your professional look to be seen with a Nokia. Everybody asks for Samsung Galaxy S3 in this range of prices, even at full price or waits for the iPhone 5. Even worse for Nokia, is the fact that the Lumia line including 900 stopped selling for good because people know they won’t get WP8.
From here it looks like Nokia is finished. When someone sees you with a Nokia smartphone they laugh at you if you’re a friend or look wary at you, like you’re a 20th century man. They don’t even bother if you use a cheap ZTE as long as it is not a Nokia.
Using a Nokia is like driving an old 15 year old car or a brand new Lada. It is wrong but it is like it looks.
So I think I am the glad owner of one of the last Nokia smartphones. I don’t care what people think about Nokia and Symbian. I will never buy a Nokia with a closed system like WP8. I will even stay away from Google controlled Android as long as possible. Last hope for secure independent OS is RIM.
Keep one eye on Jolla too, they may raise a few eyebrows at the end of this year, mainly for the right reasons hopefully
I’m rooting for all the OS’s with tiny market-share (WP8 included).
I dont believe in (nor want) a 3-horse race, & despise the “analysts” trying to pump that up.
