Lumia 900 for a penny (one cent) on Amazon- All Colors

No, not THAT Penny, one less shiny and worth alot less; yup the Lumia 900s ALL OF THEM are on sale online at Amazon mobile for ONE CENT, that’s .01 of a dollar or a 99.99% discount on the original already dirt cheap $100 price tag, or course you have to pay for the service fees from At&t but damn I wish phones were subsidized that cheap here (or at all). All three colors (White, Black and Cyan) are for a penny but only on Amazon as Att.com is still selling them for the 100 dollar price tag. I’m not sure when this offer started but if you don’t mind not getting the fullout WP8 experience and will settle for a UI overhaul then this is the time to buy.

I wish Amazon.de started fulfilling the 808 preorders instead… want to get mine
can i buy it here in the philipines?!?!?!??!!?!
Not sure about the prices but I think the 900 is available in the Philippines.
That’s because there is high demand for Lumias in US and Nokia is barely able to manufacture them.
Or it’s the same marketing trick that Nokia and others have used in the past for their phones.
But, hey, that would involve thinking positive and you’re just not equipped to do that.
Could you please enlighten us on the marketing trick? Because if you product is selling well on current price even to the point there are supposedly shortages, then by slashing prices you achieve… what exactly, besides the obvious cutting of your revenues?
Right, so…
1) Is this price cut universal across all outlets?
2) Is it particular to one outlet?
3) Has this outlet done the same thing before with other manufacturers?
Take your time.
And the answer about the trick is somehow encoded into every third character or something?
You seem to be little confused, nobody denies that other companies, even outside mobile, are slashing prices of their products. The question is why would Elop do that when he supposedly can’t make the Lumias fast enough and shops are facing shortages. But let me know when the price of Galaxy S3 is slashed to one cent, Samsung has hard time satisfying pre-orders, so I assume yesterday was late.
heeeee to expensive, if they pay-me to use it I might consider
(I do note that I got 2 for free (L800) that are being used as paper weights in the office)
I have two Androids, one a Sammy2, that I do the same thing with. Ill trade you.
Sorry, I should have let you know the Android crashes a lot. It think it’s malware because it’s so slow.
plenty of androids here as well
plus I gave my free L800′s to the windows developer in the office, problem is that he as plenty of those, so we have a big stack of free windows phones on his desk
…
Yeah. Cool story, bro.
Is “That” penny supposed to link to Big Bang theory?
Well hardly anyone I’ve seen seems to known that her real name is Kaley, just like Emma Watson is hermionne
I know the name, don’t worry
Big fan here
Still overpriced!
Try and beat pussy for a penny…
hilarious.. where is this from ?
oh, dusk til dawn … hah
they should sell it for free!
I thought it should have been $50 from the start.. going down to 0 in 2-3 months. The L900 might be closer to being dead, than the 808 would ever be..
I promise you, you DO NOT want the model that exists in the US.
Be very grateful that you don’t….
It might look nice in instances like this, but overall the picture is NOT pretty.
Wow, I have to disagree with you on that and so do the hundreds of reviews on Amazon for the 900. This phone never crashes, sounds great, fast downloads, fast surfing, surprised at how nice the camera is, apps look better than any other OS via Steve Wozniak
I can’t think of anything I don’t like about it. At this penny price Americans can order the 900 for a penny and get the 808 for a super great camera through Amazon. Does the phone have NFC? No, neither do many retailers yet. Multi core? Go talk to Intel about androids multicore.
No, I was referring to the “telco model” referenced in the article.
I mean the industry as-a-whole, my bad, my post was somewhat vague.
The L900 just became old and uninteresting with the news that it can not upgrade to WP8. That is why it is offered for a penny.
Why do you think buying phone for 1 cent is super cheap? This is typical marketing gimmick used here in USA to sell phones. Ok so you buy 1 cent lumia then you are stock with activation fees. 2 years contract where you have to pay minimum $30 (only 3gb) for data and that doesnt include minutes or sms. I am also not considering all those nonsenses fees you will receive on your bill. If you dont pay attention Att will charge you for navigation(even if its free with nokia) roadside assistance (even if you dont even have car).So you overpay this phone 3 times within 2 years. You want to quit contract that will run you almost $400. This is how US carrier work those free and 1 cent phones are gimmick.
Here is what i do. I go on ebay buy unbranded Lumia for $300 and i can use it with $10 unlimited internet.
When i come to think about it, Cell phone business in US is all about marketing (brainwashing). Look at apple. They are not successful because of their “innovations” they are successful because they make you believe they are “revolutionary”. Just like ATT makes you believe you are buying 1 cent lumia.
Well, its still cheaper than paying 100 for it and still getting hit with all the things you mentioned, no ?
Granted that all things being more or less fairly equal, following the logic of dead devices, they should start marketing and selling the already dead and burning platform for 1¢ also. IMHO it has much more things going for it ATM than the recently departed OS and its ecosystem along with it.

Lumia is not selling well so Elop lowers the price – desperation. Galaxy S3 is selling really well.
Yeah, I mean no-one else does this, right?
http://www.intomobile.com/2012/06/05/grab-samsung-galaxy-nexus-one-cent-amazon-wireless/
Quick peek and then out from this topic: More likely Lumia 900 was selling fine in the U.S. before. This change is now part of the “pattern of updates” and marketing to keep the Lumia 900 selling well and competitive from WP8 launch last week to WP8 phone release in the fall. Not unlike what car companies do to outgoing models, push prices down and accessories up. Who knows, it might work. I’m sure they’ll add Monster headphones to the mix at some point or a Play 360, if need be.
Is that a fact or an assumption?
Again, we should have a semi-official MNB crowdsourcing survey in stores and test what the sellers say in stores.
Call it common-sense speculation.
But you know, of course Nokia is different from the entire history of retail where cutting the prices of outgoing models (and adding other incentives like accessories, financing deals etc.) is a normal incentive to keep outgoing models selling – whereas in the case of Nokia it is solid proof that Elop is a space nazi from the dark side of the Moon. Obviously. Duh.
I’ll get me coat.
Well since they do it for other phones it’s prob fact:
http://www.intomobile.com/2012/06/05/grab-samsung-galaxy-nexus-one-cent-amazon-wireless/
That took five seconds of research. You should try it.
I’m sure they lowered the price because its literally flying of the shelf’s,……. the price not the phones obviously.
Do you actually come in your pants when you hear news like this, noki?
I rather think you do.
Reverting to personal insults is usually the last resort of people like yourself.
My personal attachment to the Nokia of old days as obvious (declared) reasons, I saw lots of personal friends lose their jobs out of this, I saw work on countless others thrown in to the trash bin, all for the merits of the genius and great leader Elop…
But you get overly exited about all of this, reverting to personal insult wen no other argument is available.
So I wonder what is your personal attachment to all of this???
I wonder?????
You’re not a fan, noki.
A fan means that you like something which, in general means that you support it through the good and bad times.
Yet you appear in every negative topic to dance and caper like a monkey at a zoo tea party. That’s not the actions of a fan, they’re the actions of a horrible, spoiled little child who is sulking because they didn’t get their own way.
So, yeah, you get personal insults because they’re all you deserve.
I’m not a fan, I liked many things in the old nokia, had many friends there, still have a couple..
Don’t like one bit what Nokia as become.
Think that the persons that caused this should take responsibility…
I don’t deny that I do have biter sweet feeling’s for all the crap WP news that come, a very human “BUT I TOLD YOU SO” feeling I mean “I did told you so”… If anything things are going worse than any of the “horrible, spoiled little child” predicted…
But I’m not a fan, just another person that works in the Industry, that liked the NOKIA that was and could have been, like many others here.
Maybe I will fell vindicated wen every one here admits that elop management is an epic disaster, and the WP only strategy was a strategical meltdown..
Not many here still think elop knows what he is doing, Janne (a true nokia fan IMO admits something went wrong), many of the former WP supporters here have admitted that the “all the eggs in the same basket” plan A was a disaster…
Wen we all agree on that, maybe then I can move on.
Has its is now, its bitter sweet to be personally insulted by some here…gives-me that little smile, a declaration of “yeah you are right, i don0t have any counter argument so Fuck you” that is also fun.
@noki : I’d rather think you’d rather piss on its terminally ill foul mean urinal of a mouth, don’t you think?
Haha ….this is hilarious !
Vote for The Most Expensive $$$$$ Mistake You Can Make !!!
It’s better they name it WP8 LITE or STARTER EDITION even buit on different family ( Windows NT vs Windows CE ) majority end user don.t care as long its WP8.
Look at Yakju and Takju ( Galaxy Nexus) will falls in every corner of the world with new blood Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Both the black and cyan lumia 900 are continuously among the top 20 best sellers in “Cell Phones with Service” category. Even the white L900 manages to slip in intermittently into to top 20 and is consistently in the top 40 if not top 30. So the WP8 announcement did not have a huge effect I guess.
Yeahhhh the price reduction is because well Nokia does not need money..
@Jay:
The question is why the elop is being allowed to destroy the Nokia?
As it was pointed out that OPK was fired long ago, yet he is being allowed to continue to destroy Nokia..
This makes me think that board is clearly in on..
What could that plan be?
lumia sales have been jolted severely becoz lumias are nt upgradable to win8. In order to sell lumias, at & t is selling for a penny..
Tough time for nokia..:(
Samsung and Meego.
Did you know that back then Samsung was about to jump onto Meego? There where various talks going on very early in the process. Samsung was included and giving hints they would support Meego when it comes out.
What I know is that Samsung did not contribute resources early in the process. But that both, Nokia and Samsung, where in talks about coperation to spread Meego, grow the eco-system. From what I know inside of Nokia a coperation with Samsung wasnt seen as thread cause Samsung would head a different direction not building up a S40, Symbian, Meego bridge, not targeting low end with Meego at all.
Nokia, Samsung, Intel, Dell and all the others. Meego could have hit the market like a bomb.
Remember over the last few months all the Nokia execs who have fired/left?
Nokia would have gotten news of the WP8 plan around then. It’s clear now that all of the top talent execs could not agree with the plan, so Elop had to fire them.
Why as Meltemi killed now, right before the WP8 release?
If Nokia has an option to go with Meltemi for the new few months until WP8 comes out, Nokia might have actually taken that option regardless of Elop. So Elop did the obvious thing and quickly killed it before the announcement, making it very difficult for anybody to continue the project in the next month and make it miss the soon to be reached launch date.
Elop has clearly and deliberately thrown any possible plan to save Nokia under the bus to try and ensure that Nokia will stick to WP even when it is clear it has failed… Luckily CEOs are never charged with crimes or Elop would be off to jail. I’m sure he has gotten a guaranteed job offer back in Microsoft in the event Nokia goes under, as well as a handsome guaranteed bonus for all this.. Maybe one of these new $7.5mil portable islands for him to retire on.
This is mainly written in finnish due to my friend had mild brain stroke recently and it is meant for Tomi for getting another ideas and he has permission to use it anywhere.
Tomi is also fluent in writing, I am not.
My friend has very deep knowledge about Nokia even he I do work them anymore.
He could save Nokia single handily one hand tied at his bakc as a CEO, I guess
Discussion is copied from finnish Kauppalehti at:

I thought Lumia would see bad price cuts. I didn’t imagine it to be this horrid. Amazon already selling Lumia 900 for .. 1 cent . Yes from 499 US dollars down to one penny in under three months. That is the dictionary definition of ruining a brand.
No, it was $99 US dollars on sale for $0.01. It was never 499 US dollars. On sale for $0.01 with a 2 year contract.
Oh by the way, Amazon already has the Samsung Galaxy S 3 on sale for $189.99.
Microsoft comes out as champion – again. They KNEW WP7 was failing hard but they came up with genius plan. Elop was planted to Nokia and BOOM WP was saved till W8. Without this bold and absolutely genius plan WP would have been forgotten long time ago but they found a way to save it.
Hats off to Microsoft, well played buddy. Good luck in the future.
Mary McDowell, Niklas Savander and Jerri DeVard will leave. Mary was in charge of the dumbphones unit of Nokia. Niklas was in charge of Markets. Both were long term veterans of senior Nokia management. Jerri was the Chief Marketing Officer, who joined a year ago to the top position and was former Microsoft colleague of Elop.
Elop again now yesterday said in the conference call to analysts that yes, Nokia has a retail problem, that Windows Phone sales have been disappointing. Bloomberg quotes Elop yesterday saying Nokia Lumia sales have been “slower than we would like.” This is the same Nokia Lumia smartphone sales whose stategy was strong and Elop was so confident in just what, in April?
Sorry that is not what he said. The Lumia 900 is selling strong in the US. It is also selling well in other countries, however, not so strongly in the UK. This is a well known fact and can be backed with data from StatCounter and NetApplications.
In the US, the 900 is second best selling phone on AT&T for the past two months, April and May according to Cancaccord Genuity. The 900 has also been consistently in the top 5 phones on Amazon’s best sellers list. Also, T-Mobile stated that the 710 was also one of their top 5 best selling phones since Jan.
I can provide links if needed.
No need for the PR speech you’d provide in those links – just wait for 19. July to see how well Nokia performs straight from the horse’s mouth…
No PR speech, just data from research companies.
research companies???? the same that predicted that Nokia would have increased It’s market share by now with WP??? that Nokia would have what was it ??? 27%???? tooping IOS by now with WP???? those research companies??? still and for the sake of disclosure can you show us those researches???
Do you mean StatCounter??? because if you are talking about StatCounter all we can see is WP losing market on former good markets like Germany, and vaguely climbing in Europe with nokia selling as hard as it can LUMIAS all over the globe with 4 devices across a wide price range and spending like never before in promotion….
the only salvation seams to be the small (home) market of Finland… I wonder how that will evolve now that Nokia started to close factories in Finland…
Good, as long as we’re clear that the figure of interest is WP sales, not overall sales.
Frankly I expcect Q2 to be horrible. The question is whether or not WP sales are on track with Symbian sales massively down or if WP has stagnated. If it’s the latter then I think the writing is on the wall. If it’s the former then there is still room for optimisim.
Mark let stop with the personal insults, I do like your postings wen they are leveled and non personal..
For example in your opinion how many million LUMIAS would be a disaster, a so and so or really positive?
My prediction is that its under 4 Million and in Q3 …. 2 Million
and this will be the end of NOKIA… But I might be wrong, but would like your opinion on it, its much nicer than we talking about our respective mothers or how good we are at defecating…
Sorry to see you guys in this situation but Nokia is over now..:(
Doomsday will be soon for Finnish people and to all loyal fans like me..:(
An estimsted loss of $14Billion and $5Billion since Feb, 2011..
Elop and its BOD r respinsible for this..
This is a very common approach that Microsoft takes with companies.
Embrace, extend, extinguish.
Nokia never stood a chance.
Would you mind stopping the spam? Very annoying.
@keizka
Why he has to? Is it annoying a good company like Nokia is left in the dessert by stupid decisions made by a single man?
Why didn’t he stop MS to postpone announcement of Wp8 when it is not compatible for upgrade?
People are not interested even if they offered free of cost….Symbian killed, Meego abandoned, WP won’t be for another few months…How would a company will survive? Isn’t it painful for fans like us to stick with Nokia? I don’t understand the reasons behind your positive thinking..!
Oh, sure, he can express his opinion. But making it 10 different posts when it could’ve been one? Gsus.
