What a deep sh#t Nokia sits in when we see the second blog entry related to some company selecting Lumias as their company phone AND it effect less than 300 phones TOTAL…
You are right. 300 phones doesnt matter. But obviously this company have chosen whats best for them in terms of quality and price, and it turned out to be Lumias. Perhaps next time it will be a company with 3000 phones instead. These news give a signal that maybe matters more than the volume in the specific case. A signal that obviously Lumias are competitive after all.
I think Nokia are like a caterpillar which has turned into a crissalis, for a while it appears to have stopped doing anything, then it appears to crack and break, before it completes its transition and flies higher than it ever had before.
A lot of people seem to want to write off Nokia as finished, but will these people acknowledge its achievements if and when it has success with WP8 or will they still be saying it could have sold more if it had gone with MeeGo?
I see little bit of difference between playing with band on Titanic and parading around the ship claiming to everyone crashing into the iceberg was probably a good thing, that who says captain is an idiot is just hating him for no good reason, and as the sinking is accelerating call extremist those who are saying the ship is going to end up on sea floor, because only time can tell such things.
im pretty sure you aint having fun in this place, and you seem to be come more and more like the people you said frequent this place, The “told you so bunch”.
Honestly, i prefer to go about helping other nokia users than come here and read bullshit from people who dont even want nokia to succeed. Not at least, with WP.
and, in forums, when people blatantly write bullshit, moderators bans the morons! in here, not so much.
Next question is that did Nokia get money from the devices or is this all just give-aways for that company to make this add.
Same issue with operators that Nokia has to pay operators that they take and sell Nokia phones. Russian Nokia lost all their stores that sold Nokia phones only and now those stores are Samsung Only stores.
Here are some easy picks for the rest of the thread:
There is no Nokia logo, because…
a) Elop is a space nazi from the dark side of the moon and personally removed the Nokia logo that was on the video
b) Nokia is already Microsoft’s subsidiary according to a trety signed in Iceland in January 2011
c) The video was made by Microsoft PR because the Lumias were sold as a part of a Microsoft backend systems deal (by Nokia in co-op)
My choice is C, but bias has no bearing on my comment. I was simply stating, that it is odd since NOKIA Australia posted a video about Buildcorp choosing NOKIA devices over Blackberry, that we would at least see the NOKIA logo displayed.
I get it that it was probably a MS deal, but I’d assume Nokia would want a bit more exposure. Sure, the video mentions Nokia Lumia 800, but seeing the logo of a company provides stronger brand recognition. It’s a simple tactic in Marketing
My SPECULATION is that Nokia Australia was just reposting a video made by Microsoft. If it was Microsoft’s video, going adding your own logo to it might not all that kosher.
People lost jobs, investors lost money, developers lost faith, consumers lost Meego.
Everything going on is fine and normal, lets not be biased and make only sensible comments.
Every time Microsoft sells backend systems to companies is a chance for Nokia to sell Windows Phones to them as well. We are now seeing several examples – and it is not Samsung Windows Phones they are selling.
“Life’s not about waiting for the storms to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”
You are saying it like for entrance into corporate world you first have to turn itself into MS subsidiary.
BTW, I understand that after WP conclusively failed on consumer market, corporations are probably the last PR stand (although so far WP spectacularly failed even on this front and I see no reason why that should change), but Nokia cheering around few deals from these unknown small-sized local firms really looks rather desperate and probably damaging.
You are saying it like for entrance into corporate world you first have to turn itself into MS subsidiary.
Of course I’m saying no such thing. Merely that there are also benefits to belonging to the Microsoft ecosystem. I am not disputing any of the downsides or implying it is a requirement. Just pointing out one upside. Clearly these companies chose Lumia because they chose a Microsoft platform (or because of the combination was competitive).
Nokia cheering around few deals from these unknown small-sized local firms really looks rather desperate and probably damaging.
Well, the over the top negative response to these blog entries looks rather more than desperate (insane, really), but that’s MNB for you these days. Didn’t Mama teach you, if there is nothing nice to say – don’t say it? Most especially I doubt these news could be “damaging”. Come on. I know reason left long ago, but at least try.
The point stands, Nokia may gain from the Microsoft ecosystem in various ways. This is one example of the potential. There are other examples too. Maybe it will turn to nothing, maybe it will to something.
Benefits relative to what scenario? May gain relative to what scenario? Because so far I see only loses everywhere.
It’s like personally greeting every consumer purchaser of Lumia on FB with the rate of two posts per day. For company claiming to seek to create global smartphone ecosystem that’s just ridiculously absurd.
It’s a TRILOGY, haven’t you heard? The Burning Platform I, A New Hope N9/N808. The Burning Platform II, MS Strikes Back. The Burning Platform III, The Return of the N950/Meltemi.
Witty and fair comment.
Just remember to do it when you go around replying and twisting points on other peoples’ comments.
Karma = What goes around comes around.
Lumnia still on the edge of whoaaa whoaa
In other news, Google will release its own Nexus 7 tablet to show other Android OEMs how tablets should be done.
Sound familiar?
Now the ecosystem wars will truly begin. One operating system running on a range of devices, accessing the same cloud data and services, running the same apps… Android, Windows 8 and to a lesser extent iOS. Nokia are poised to capitalize on this.
The truth in front of everyone’s eyes is that ceo’s are saying they like Nokia and would not do that if the information pointed to a failed Nokia. I trust they have done their research and see a better future for Nokia and want to be part of that.
That 311 is so cool isn’t it. I love that little N9 bro.
So…. Quietly week…
What a deep sh#t Nokia sits in when we see the second blog entry related to some company selecting Lumias as their company phone AND it effect less than 300 phones TOTAL…
OMG…

Have a little faith guys… Here’s a new song for the flood of tiny-minded comments.
It’s hard to have faith when all you love is dying…

Or play the fiddle while Rome is burning.
steelicon:
The difference is, we are not in power to stop the disaster – any more than the band on the Titanic was.
Nero, on the other hand was said to have ignited or caused the fire. Are you implying we set Nokia’s platform on fire?
So, either we end up a band on Titanic or we’re Take That singing The Flood. But we ain’t no Nero.
Either way “tiny minds and eager hands” will try to put us down…
I see little bit of difference between playing with band on Titanic and parading around the ship claiming to everyone crashing into the iceberg was probably a good thing, that who says captain is an idiot is just hating him for no good reason, and as the sinking is accelerating call extremist those who are saying the ship is going to end up on sea floor, because only time can tell such things.
Since you want to maintain positive attitude, more befitting song would be:
Well fuck you too.
why dont you go join a local tech minded forum?

Good advice, there.
We’ll see.
As for my reply to incognito, don’t take it too seriously.
Relax Janne you are a good guy, don’t take it personally, specially Monty Python.
Next question is that did Nokia get money from the devices or is this all just give-aways for that company to make this add.

Sounds exactly like what was happening with Symbian before, y’know…
Same here in India Nokia stores turning into Samsung mobile Stores …….wonder wat will hppen if Nokia comes on Top again
Nokia is not coming to top again. So they can keep selling Samsung for next 5 years with out worries.
Microsoft logo appears at the start, and windows phone at the end. No logo for Nokia :/

I get your disappointment.
My SPECULATION is that Nokia Australia was just reposting a video made by Microsoft. If it was Microsoft’s video, going adding your own logo to it might not all that kosher.
Yes its all about Microsoft we know that Janne.

+1 Well said…
Lately you’re being… Err, mmm… a little agressive…
option d) Elop is worst that a Nazi, he’s an evangelist
…
You guys are still missing the really big point.
I think they enjoy wallowing in those pits they’ve built for themselves.
Yes, we see the positive side as well. But it is slow, painfully slow…
I think WP8 devices will be successful – but until then Nokia takes bloodbath…
beta test NOKIA
It is painfully slow, maybe too slow to succeed.
But until the worst happens, let’s dance.
the little fatalist…
Somebody once said there is no point in organizing the deck chairs on Titanic. True.
But it is universally accepted that there was a point for the band to keep playing!
You are saying it like for entrance into corporate world you first have to turn itself into MS subsidiary.

This is not a global smartphone company, but a fan blog.
Let it be. I sure will.
You and nn have been arguing across different posts now.
But I realize you and nn look so cute together.
You may both kiss now.
Nokia is on Burning Platform – WP7.5 !!
It’s a TRILOGY, haven’t you heard? The Burning Platform I, A New Hope N9/N808. The Burning Platform II, MS Strikes Back. The Burning Platform III, The Return of the N950/Meltemi.
Karmas a bitch right Mr. Elop. You gave the N9 DOA status, now your beloved Lumnia line is at the edge of getting the DOA status
Off-topic’s a bitch, more like it.
Witty and fair comment.

Don’t you love the fact that the Surface keyboards match Nokias colors. Elop is good. Nokia is ready.
The truth in front of everyone’s eyes is that ceo’s are saying they like Nokia and would not do that if the information pointed to a failed Nokia. I trust they have done their research and see a better future for Nokia and want to be part of that.

I still can’t believe THIS thread came out of news that a company bought some Lumias.
The other company buying Lumias does not look any better either.
I can believe it because there is nothing that fires the trolls up more than good Lumia news.
Yeah, I guess you are right on that one.
