Tango now rolling out for WP 7.5 devices

| June 28, 2012 | 28 Replies

I posted yesterday that the Tango availability map was now online, and we should expect the update to start rolling out soon. Well, it has! My mum’s carrier branded Lumia 800 had a notification earlier today (but was too busy to post until now). As of 3 AM (GMT +10), the update began rolling out. There are quite a few countries that have the majority of their product codes listed as “update available”, so I suggest you plug your device into Zune and hope for the best.

Don’t forget to check to out the availability map.

My phone updated but there is no Nokia Apps. I am from India.

Please tell me if anyone got. Contacts sender, Camera Extras etc..

    • Janne says:

I don’t think they are available yet, at least they are not yet available from Finland. Nokia Play To (DLNA) should be available already, though. And Camera Extras is available in U.S. and China, but not elsewhere.

Here are the links and QR codes to Camera Extras and Play To, try them and see if they work if the search/Marketplace app doesn’t show the for you yet:

If not, in the coming weeks then…

      • Vikas Patidar says:

        Thank Janne for reply.

But please have a look at the link given what they have mentioned:

        http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/lumia/software-update-for-nokia-lumia/

Once your Nokia Lumia 800 or 710 is updated, or if you have a Nokia Lumia 900 or 610*, you can download some great new apps that are available exclusively for the Nokia Lumia family from the Windows Phone Marketplace.

More proof is that when I was updating I got a message that “Nokia Update” but my bad luck was that my computer power fails suddenly and now my phone says your phone is updated for latest version.

Did you got the features like copy contacts to sim card etc?

        • Zipa says:

The apps are currently only available in US and China. Once the 8773 OS update is available and distributed in other markets, they will become available there. “Sometime in July” was the not-so-specific release date, if I’m not mistaken.

You can check whether or not the update was successful from Settings -> about. OS version should be 8773.x and firmware .1222x. For Lumia 800, that is.

    • Does your Lumia now have internet tethering?

I had bought my phone in Singapore, but I use my phone in India as I live here. Will I get the update when its released in India or when its released in Singapore?

“I had bought my phone in Singapore, but I use my phone in India as I live here. Will I get the update when its released in India or when its released in Singapore?”

You’ll probably have to follow the Singapore update path, and check the product code on your phone, to see whether there is an update or not.

Funny, the software update page says the update is available in my country, Malaysia, but so far I got nothing when I connect to Zune. Says ‘My phone is up to date’. Probably the servers are full or something. Will try again later to see if I have any luck.

    • DesR85 says:

Update: Tried it again after charging the phone (L800) to 100%. Still no update as of now. Went to search Nokia’s forum and one reason mentioned by a moderator there is that the propagation of the update through Zune takes time and the second reason is operator/carrier approval.

Might want to try this tomorrow to see if I have any luck. Luckily I charged my phone beforehand because now its raining heavily and there’s a thunderstorm outside. :o

    • DesR85 says:

Update 2: Checked the update page again just today and this time it came along with a notice:

“The updates will be published in weekly waves, here you can check the status of the update for your country. Also, software updates for the Nokia Lumia range are released gradually through a quality control system called ‘throttling’. That means, once the updates are started, throttling will initially decrease the update’s visibility to ensure that quality and performance requirements are met for the update process itself. As soon as the update is available for you, you will get a notification pop-up on the phone screen (if automatic checking not disabled manually).”

Still haven’t got this update yet. Maybe I should wait until the end of this month just like the previous update? Hope not.

      • arts says:

dude, did you try the remove lan cable method of updating?

        • DesR85 says:

Tried it a number of times the day before but didn’t work. Can’t be bothered to try again after that and just decided to wait for it to appear on Zune instead.

Did it succeed on your side?

          • arts says:

yup dude. it works fine for me. on 8773 now =)

do give it another try, it took me a few trys to get it right.

btw can you install camera extra on your 800?

            • DesR85 says:

Odd. Doesn’t seem to work on my side and I just tried it this afternoon. Still the same problem. Might as well wait for the official release.

“…btw can you install camera extra on your 800?”

Nope. Still unable to do so. I read on lowyat that some of them were able to get them even without the Tango update, but they did point out that their marketplace location is set to either Singapore or some other place.

            • DesR85 says:

Hey, good news. Tried the NoDo trick you mentioned and it is finally working. Installing the 8112 update now. Will update when I get Nokia’s Tango update.

Thanks very much for the tip. :)

              • arts says:

Haha good to her. Sorry I don’t subsribes to comments, it gets pretty cluttered in my inbox after awhile.

            • DesR85 says:

Managed to install the official 8773 Tango update. Success at last. :)

As for camera extras, still unavailable. Maybe have to wait until later in July? :(

Any word on the update for the ATT lumia 900?
Hoping that red tape at ATT doesn’t delay it, this way my stupid friends will stop whining that they can’t send video messages.
