GSM Arena’s Nokia 808 PureView battery test
GSM Arena have published their battery tests for the Nokia 808 PureView.
It scores quite well, 3G talk time, web browsing and video playback. This is helped both by having Symbian, a relatively less power hungry processor and less pixels to process on screen. Video playback is super high at 9h and 53 minutes!

Honestly, I think it could have been a lot better…
Its much better than N8 and even more so than my E7.
I get 2 full days out of mine easy..
Just dont run apps like Whatsapp or leave maps/gps running all the time.
Im very pleased with battery performance.. I take pictures every day, use the web a lot as well as phone calls and text.
I am very curious what is the impact of Whatsapp on the battery life.
Can 808 last more than 18 hours with Whatsapp installed?
I think somebody should do the 38 MP continuous shooting battery test.
- Insert a big ass SD card
- Charge full, remove charger
- Start 808 camera, 38 MP mode
- Start taking time
- Hold down camera button (which takes new images as fast as it can) until battery dies (quickly format the SD card when it fills during the test, it probably will)
- Make note of time
In case someone is feeling a little crazy.
Nevertheless, behind my (bad) humor is a valid question: Does the companion chip for the camera use battery all the time or when processing pictures or something in-between… and how much.
I would do this on a test device, i certainly wouldn’t do it with my own 808, if i had one.

abc: I doubt I’ll have the time or the energy to try and set something like that up. Unlike some people say, I actually don’t spend 24/7 with my Nokia hobby.
I’m not expecting anyone else will test that either, but just an idea.

I have done about 100 pictures (pureview and full-res ones) and it last’s me all day – from moring to evening. And not to forget that I also used internet, calls etc.
Though 1400 mAh is not a big number in todays standards, it is good enough to run the 808 a full day on single charge. All thanks goes to the light weight symbian and the nHD display. However the battery performance may vary depending on number of home screen widgets,mail sync schedule, Facebook and twitter widgets etc

If it wasnt for FP1 my 701 would probably beat 808 in terms of battery life.
Hope they fix the damn thing in FP2.
I don’t know about 808, but my N8 lasts twice as long as my Lumia 800. If not more. Not to mention that N8 was bought in december 2010, and L800 is now 2 or 3 months old.
The 34-hour endurance rating isn’t all that high.
The Lumia 800 (pre-battery fix), N9, and iPhone 4S have similar sized batteries (1450 mAh L800+N9, 1432 iP4s) and by GSMArena’s tests scored 35-, 39-, and 45-hour endurance ratings respectively.
My experience is that N8 lasts twice as long as L800 (after battery fix). Interesting thing is, that L800 tends to suck up battery even while idle, unlike N8.
In my experience the 808 has slightly better battery preformance than the N8 and outlasts the N9 by about half a day… but I haven’t used the N8 much since I got my N9 so can’t tell if Bell improved battery life or not, if it has then maybe the N8 beats the 808.
No, 808 beats N8 and beats E7 even more so.
It’s not even clear if GSMarena’s test was done with PR1.1 let alone PR1.3 (which MAY be out any day now).
1.1 in particular was a bug-fix focused release, 1.2 was too, but it was slightly more feature-centric.

But the vast bulk of users didn’t get it right away, it rolled-out over about 2mth+.
They never clarified whether it was done with 1.0 or 1.1, 1.0 is most likely.
PR1.1 was known to fix LOTS of perf/stability issues, see comments in the article to get a basic idea.
39hrs is not a fair representation of what battery performance may or may not be like following 1.1, let alone 1.2/3.
I’m having issues with mine, suddenly battery life has dropped to half a day, with nothing, not even WhatsApp running in the background.

Can you tell me, how durable the Purview materials are?
What about the polycarbonate back…ist it easily scratchable?
What about screenlocker or volumerocker?

Well, I can say the materials look and feel absolutely fantastic. I’m guessing all of it is plastic, although the camera bump looks and feels more valuable than that, and all of the plastic has a very good feel to it. This is not flimsy stuff in the way, say, Lumia 710 feels a little on the cheaper side. 808 does not look or feel like that.
The 808 has a very solid feel all around, buttons included. Pictures do not do it justice. I’d say only the call keys have a slightly less tactile push feel than I’d like (the material is nice though), but they work fine (besides they are a bonus, one doesn’t have to use them for other than power up) and rest of the keys feel as the should.
As for durability, I have no comments as I’ve been taking special care until I can get a case. The camera bump is glossy, so I’d expect that to be the first problem if any, but I intend to get one of the Nokia cases to cover it anyway. Screen is slightly curved on the sides and seems to sit a little above the bezel, so I’d recommend a screen protector or a case that has borders higher than the screen.
So, the camera bump and the screen are the parts that come first into contact with tables and so on, and are glossy, so think of protecting them. With rest of the materials I’d expect no problems at all, but that is just my guess.
Although its Gorilla Glas, it is possible to be scratched? …just like the N8′s screen
But ok, I always had Protectors for my Phones, so for this phone I will also use a combination of bumper and screen protector.

i had bought 808 just few days ago but i didnt c it yet as it is with my brother and i want to know how many mega pixel is the front camera and as it is a gorilla screen does screen does it get scratch fast and i would also like to get advice from u people how to protect my screen and back camera and i would also know that whether the three switches in the front are sensors or not..
