Press Release: Nokia Board of Directors approves an adjustment to the planned maximum number of Stock Options to be granted in 2012
This press release was published yesterday. It informs of the increased stock given to key senior level employees critical in carrying forward the new Nokia strategy..
Espoo, Finland – Nokia announced today that its Board of Directors authorized an adjustment to the planned maximum number of stock options it will grant in 2012 under the Nokia Stock Option Plan 2011, which was approved at the Annual General Meeting 2011.
Nokia increased the planned maximum number of stock options to be granted under the Nokia Equity Program 2012 from approximately 8.5 million to approximately 11.5 million. This adjusted planned maximum of approximately 11.5 million stock options to be granted in 2012 is within the maximum number of 35 million stock options available for grant under the Stock Option Plan 2011 approved by the Annual General Meeting 2011.
None of these additional stock options will be granted to the CEO and the Nokia Leadership Team members but rather to key senior level employees who are critical in carrying forward Nokia’s strategy. We believe this is a prudent use of stock options, also designed to align the interests of these key employees with those of the shareholders. Any realization of the value from the stock option awards is dependent on successful execution of the strategy and a sustainable share price growth over the long term.
Stock options can be granted under the Stock Option Plan 2011 until the end of 2013 and they have a vesting period of 50 percent of stock options vesting three years after grant and the remaining 50 percent vesting four years from grant.
As of December 31, 2011, the total maximum dilution effect of Nokia’s equity program then outstanding, assuming that the performance shares would be delivered at maximum level, was approximately 1.8 percent. The potential maximum effect of the Nokia Equity Program 2012 announced in January 2012, assuming delivery at maximum level and including the increased planned maximum of approximately 11.5 million stock options, would be approximately another 1.6 percent.
Cheers Alfred for the tip!

hope this boosts morale for Nokia employees. they should have done this way earlier
It seems they are confident the ‘fruit’ is ready to be harvested. Good thing they give it to the people that deserve it most : Employees that make the difference at Nokia.
Hi Guys,
Check out this graph. Nokia share prices are ‘soaring’

Haha it’s about time, they’d been falling for ages.
yes Ive noticed this too quite happy if this rate continues ill double my money in less than a month?
Since last Monday they are 30% up!
That has got to do with two factors – one the recent contract win by Nokia Networks and Apples dismal (for them) quarterly results.
I think this rally will be short lived. I suspect the newxt Iphone and Ipad Mini will be wiping the smiles off those who think this is a major turnaround.
if you check most tech blogs, people seem to be disappointment with the next iphone design, complaining that its very similar to the previous 2 ipones,
also posting about how the ui is starting to get boring/stale.
consumers are very fickle indeed,
maybe after 5 years they are tired and ready for something fresh, same with investors.
Most probably… I believe most outa here think that the OS mobile world, is like the PC world were all the things are ruled by MS… Mobile device have short life span, most of them are outdated in 18 months, and at the oposite of a PC (being it a laptop, netbook, desktop) which OS or Hardware can be upgrade in one or another way, phones that old get out of the game quickly; and there is the cool factor, after some time people will get tire of the same thing (the time depend, but in most cases if appear to be 5 years), just look at the iPods, they’re cool but not as cool as they were in past years, it has become ubiquos, basically everyone has one, if you wanna be cool you need something unique… How much will the iPhone will last, who know???, the solds have decrease, but maybe it has more to do with people waiting for the next iPhone, if you’re into a 3GS or 4 most probably you have skipped the 4s, and will get the 5 doesn’t matter if it isn’t so different from the 4s…
Apple can just rename the existing 4s to 5 and legions will queue up to get it.
They said the same about the 4s which ended up being a huge seller. Do not underestimate the brand power and users love for all things fruity.
MS and Nokia have a huge task. I think they have a better bet going up against Android and Samsung than Apple who have a stranglehold.
The appreciation is the share price has more to do with short term traders than any major analyst upgrade or news. Apple had a bad quarter which to them means Nokia will win. What they have forgotten is people are delaying purchases of the Iphone not turning away from it.
If the rumours are true and the new Iphone is out on September 21. I suspect they will sell about 5-10m Iphone in 9 days – how many lumias you think Nokia will shift in this current quarter?
@kankerot
The fact that Nokia execs bought 1+ million shares must have played its part.

iphone 5 sells at the same time as nokia wp8 without pureview. who will win?
How do u know about pureview???
Pureview tech on windows phone 8 won’t come before Q2 2013 as confirmed indirectly by Nokia’s developer relations head and other employees
Hi, where was that comment made? did not see that one.
If nothing else, just read the 2nd&3rd paragraph:

spring of 2013
Of course Nokia can release N8′s kind of powerful camera featuring Lumia windows phone at Nokia world or may be in Q1 2013
Oh, that story.. (plus Stefan’s usual post-Nokia-stint spin to it). Well, that may or may not mean Pureview and would not necessarily take it as a confirmation one way or the other. Yes, Q1 2013 has always seemed like the earliest possible time for a fullblown WP PV phone to me as well but hope they can surpise us.
