Bloomberg reckons new Nokia Lumia could be out as early as September too

| August 6, 2012 | 58 Replies

At the end of July, we heard some rumours that the new WP8 Nokia Lumia handsets may appear in September, ready for Nokia World. That’s merely weeks away.

TheVerge also reports on the topic due to some hints by Bloomberg that they could indeed be out as early as next month. This was mentioned by a person who was supposedly knowledgable of the matter. This plan isn’t yet public so that person wants to remain anonymous. I guess anyone leaking info would want to remain anonymous, no?

This would be ahead of the September 12 unveiling of the next greatest Jebus phone evarr.

Whether we see the new Nokia Lumia WP8s in September or not, every one is probably doubting Nokia’s ability to make it available in shops soon after, unlike of course the fruitier iThing which is probably already secretly in the shops right now brought in stealthily by CIA/Ninjas.

  1. Nokia će početkom rujna vjerojatno predstaviti WP8 lumije | NokiaMob | August 6, 2012

who care the third ecosystem platform?

    • Mark says:

      Here’s a question:

Why does every troll on this forum type like a semi literate muppet? No capitalisation, poor sentence structure, shocking grammar… the list goes on.

I appreciate that English isn’t the first language of everyone here but I suspect that most these cretins would be equally incompetent in their primary language too.

  2. Glavata says:

Hanging on is exactly what I will be doing with my NOK stocks for the next 2-3 years to come. \o

    • Karel says:

Wise choice, the coöperation with Microsoft didn’t workout up and until now. But with the upcoming smartphones and tablets it just might work. Nokia’s hardware and Microsoft’s software is an excellent combination.

Currently owner of a N8. The choice of the next smartphone depends on what Apple is presenting on September 12th and whether it can fight up to the new WP8/Nokia smartphone. Hoping on it!

    • ms.nokia says:

      same here :)

    • joker says:

If you bought NOK today, you can expect 3 ~ 5 times returns in one year. If I have extra cash I will buy as much as I can. If listen to the market analysts, you won’t get anything. Who are the Nokia exports? you and me, not them. We watch Nokia’s every step, past and today, We watch the mobile space since Palm. We are the experts.

    • Web Guy says:

Same here buddy I bought a bunch when it hit $7 and a bunch more at $1.70 last week. I think NOK is gonna make a big comeback with WP8.

  3. ashok pai says:

the longer the dealy, the worse it gets after the recent osborne effect on the current WP devices.

  4. Oslík says:

Makes sense. They just have to physically release them before the end of October.

    • Oslík says:

      And please, please, please Nokia:

In as many countries as possible at the same time. If it will be available in the most of the world in Q2/2013…

    • Harangue says:

One can easily come up with 2 scenarios regarding availability.

1: It will be shown but not made available. Why? There have been 0/Zero leaks so far of any kind regarding any new Nokia hardware. Even the iPhone with it military grade secrecy is leaking out, apparantly.

2: Nokia has had enough time to retool all their factories and is now able to churn out a boatload of devices unlike the poor capacity ODM’s like Compal had.

Whatever which way it goes, October is the deadline for availability.

      • Oslík says:

Elop has reportedly said that the new Lumias will come in October.

So the September announcement and the October availabilty scenario seems credible for me.

  5. ms.nokia says:

i hope the rumours are true,
if nokia can show a wp8 phone AND have it for sale within weeks, then it will interest many people who are tired of the whole apple/google thing,
the next iphone looks to be the same old ageing design, just a little taller,
please nokia don’t waste this golden opportunity to attract converts,

    • Oslík says:

Yes, let’s hope the “new iPhone” rumors are true too. It looks frigidly boring on those leaked images.

While the market dynamics continues to petrify the infamous Apple+Samsung duopoly position, anything can change on the market overnight, never say never.

      • Oslík says:

The sexies iPhone 5 feature? The new connector! ;-)

        • ms.nokia says:

          lolz,
only s. jobs could do he’s reality distortion trick to hype it up so that the isheep think they must have the new connector, just like he did with siri on the 4s.

lots of complaints from u.s. carriers over apple’s dominance, and too much android on their networks,
they want a third ecosystem to give them better negotiations with apple/google and break their monopoly.

      • jiipee says:

That’s true. If the leaked Iphone images are true, the desing department will lose a lot of credibility. Ofcourse they can sell NFC etc as huge improvements to the general public, who do not know better.

    • jiipee says:

What I heard is that the reason for canceling vacations at Microsoft were not due delays, but trying to beat the new iphone release. That is good.

On the negative side is that MS did not allow all Nokia innovations that are ready to be included for some reason. I wish that they could arrive next Spring the latest, when Kerris has promised (once again) amazing products.

      • Paul says:

        Oh, I’m listening….

        • jiipee says:

You can keep listening for a while. I’ll comment when they are finally out since I dont want any trouble to the person I was discussing with. The sad thing is that they were ready for Meego too.

          • viipottaja says:

Ok, now it just sounds like they are not reeasy

            • viipottaja says:

              Oops. “Ready”, I meant.

              • jiipee says:

Yes, MS was not ready to accept them. Maybe due to their priorities to get WP8 working or they are developing something similar themselves and want all WP OEMs to have same tech. My source was unable to say the reason. That is something Elop called a co-dependency, which is more or less one sided.

However,, you cannot deduct the unreadiness from the fact that I cannot comment.

                • Viipottaja says:

You reference to them having been ready for Meego too just made it sound.. well, like yet another thing that may be ready in the labs but not ready for the mass market.

      • Dave says:

That rumour about cancelling vacations came from one guy who tweeted some of his friends at Microsoft postponed their vacations to finish the release first. The usual shitty gadget sites turned that into “MS dying cancelling all vacations WP8 buggy shit”.

Or do you have a better source?

        • jiipee says:

The people I talked with said that the vacation cancellation is to hurry up the delivery to beat Apple. Not buggyness.

          • Dave says:

That’s interesting if true.. because it would imply that the availability date depends on the software, not on the hardware.

(I mean WP8 does not have to be “finished” for Nokia to announce the devices in September, if they’re only going to have it available in the market november-december.)

So might we see the actual devices available by october? End of september? That would be very welcome :)

  6. zlutor says:

    the design is BORING… :-(

  7. Janne says:

My Lumia 900 and PureView 808 are starting show their age, so come on Nokia! :) Quickly now…

/just kidding of course, gadget addicts know the symptoms

  8. Carbontubby says:

Can we have a Qwerty WP8 flagship please, Nokia, please?

Samsung and Motorola treat their Qwerty devices like unwanted family members by using second-rate components compared to their top slabs. We keyboard fans don’t mind a thicker or bulkier phone as long as it has all the latest tech crammed inside with a good keyboard on top.

  10. Cod3rror says:

So how many of these are they going to give away and count as sales?

  11. alsocan says:

can they release the phone before releasing the sdk?

    • Johnny Tremaine says:

This is a good point: they haven’t released the SDK for WP8 to developers, so even if Nokia shows off a couple of phones next month, they likely won’t be available until the late Fall at the earliest.

I suspect a true high end Windows Phone Nokia with Pureview probably won’t even make the holiday season of 2012, more likely a mid range effort. Again.

  12. manu says:

hope that will be some really good one.good enough to keep fandroids mouth shut for sometimes.

  13. Sefriol says:

Imo without a doubt Nokia WP8 devices will be revealed in September @ NokiaWorld. It’s their most important event with their name on it. It must hold something spectacular otherwise Nokia’s stock will drop again. New Asha or Symbian and maybe Meego devices aren’t enough on their own. Nokia needs strong WP8 phones on the market ASAP.
When these devices are coming to market is an other thing. They might do the same thing as they did with 800: release it for major markets straight away/very soon and for the other markets step by step (=just before/for Christmas).

  14. Ritesh says:

what is that piece of paper he is holding in his hand?

    • Harangue says:

NFC tag, it was when Joe Belfiore was demoing some NFC capabilities with business cards etc. at the MS WP event in June.
