Nokia Lumia 920 passes FCC (RM-820/821)
The Nokia Lumia 920 has passed FCC, confusingly noted as RM-820 (RM-821 in image above).
From September 10th, there’s a 90 day confidentiality treatment for RM-821 on the following documents:
- - Exhibit 3: External photos
- - Exhibit 7: Test setup photos
- - Exhibit 8: User’s manual
- - Exhibit 9: Internal photos

Does FFC Also examine Software? (Also at we least we know it’s launching this year lol)
I dont think so, they are more into the safety and standards of a “communication” device hardware. They check if the hardware is safe for consumer and is secure with current communication infastructure of US.
First I thought the reason why Nokia didnt inform about when and to where and whom was because they simply didnt know, due to Microsoft. But yesterday HTC could give quite good information about their new products availibility, so now I dont know what to think. From Nokia press site you can sometimes read about some stupid new little agreement with some application partner. But things like this you dont hear from them officially. No wonder the press around the world is speculating about the future of Nokia when Nokia dont want to talk about it themselves.
Excellent. Perhaps the Oct 21 date is not completely out of reach then. Still think Nov 2 or so is more likely.
Might be. I still hate this shit talk before the actual store release. People speculate far too much without seeing the product and make ridiculous statements without a base.
After reading http://kritiikkiblogi.wordpress.com/juhani-risku-muotoilujohtamisen-perusteita/ and some annoying stuff about Nokia from Finnish forums/press I felt I could punch someone.
So much bullshit.
Risku is pretty crazy, but if you put the correct filter on, there is a lot of good insight there what comes to design mgmt
Theres no easy way to say it. Elop screwed Nokia.
All the reasons for abandoning Nokia’s own platform ecosystem advantage that was the fastest growing ecosystem and was about to explode with the MeeGo Qt platform are moot when the company is losing BILLIONS all because of his decisions.
He should have been fired a long time ago. Even the markets are callin for it now.
HTC secured brilliant carrier deals in the US for Windows Phone. Eflop and his team have been unable to do anything close to what HTC has done. They’re finished.
Do we know anything about Nokia’s deal with carriers ?
Calm down.
We know that they only have AT&T because their hardware only support AT&T.
They have nothing on the biggest carrier, Verizon.
HTC will be one step ahead of Nokia by being on AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon from launch!
HTC said the Windows Phone 8X will be available in Europe on Orange, O2 Telefonica, MTS, Three UK, T-Mobile, and Vodafone.
Elop destroyed Nokia’s carrier relationships which is why he had no deals to announce a few weeks back.
Hardware only supports AT&T ?
How did you arrive at that ?
Several carriers have confirmed or implied they will have the 920 or 820 or both. So chill. You could make a reasonable point like “it is bad that Nokia has not announced its carrier deals yet”. Instead you of course have to go to the ridiculous extreme of claiming there are no deals.
they have verizon and t-mobile for lumia 820
”All the reasons for abandoning Nokia’s own platform ecosystem advantage that was the fastest growing ecosystem”
what ecosystem symbian had, or meego?
http://mynokiablog.com/2010/11/02/ovi-store-2-7-million-daily-downloads-as-of-october-28-almost-1-billionyear-rate/
Lol! Themes are free, so yeah, there are going to be a lot of downloads. Most of the stuff in Nokia’s store, free and paid, are awful!
Also, please educate yourself on what an ecosystem is; hint: it does not refer to apps solely.
Please don’t try to imply “after the fact” that it had/s no ecosystem…
Of course it’s pretty ordinary NOW, there WAS plans to (very complex/involved) to address that from about the time the strat. change was announced, but they were ratcheted down far more than they “would’ve” been.
Are you seriously feigning ignorance about that now? Oh that’s right, that’s the standard response nowadays isn’t it, that or “Oh it was definitely too late.”, why even bother any more.
You see, this is the whole dilemma, we wouldn’t be having these silly debates if he’d just let Harmattan (& eventually MeeGo-proper) live on in the high end, & ratcheted Symbian down a bit more quickly (& less retardly than he did), but being the one-eyed wonder he is, sadly that was never going to happen.
Not even going to bother continuing this discussion… it really is pointless, the same (false or unknown) arguments will be dragged out, yet again.
If it hits FCC, probably means the hardware is finalized…
not unless FCC rejects the 920
Not sure about the 920 but I just saw (5 min ago) a glossy white Lumia 820 and it looked like a finished product.
There was a couple of Nokia people having lunch at my table. One of them took out a Nokia Lumia 820 and played around with it for a while.
I guess they were heading for Scalado’s office. It’s in the same building.
damn.. did you see them use the WP8 beyond homescreen?
So how does the 820 look to you in real life?
I looked a little better than the pictures. I think it would benefit from a matt finish though, just a matter of taste of course.
Good thing though is that I immediately recognized it. Means either that I am spending way too much time on mynokiablog or that it has a look that stands out from the crowd.
About windows 8.. He was sitting opposite me so I only got split second glimpse of the screen showing start screen. He was using it for a few minutes so he must have done something else but scrolling through the start screen as well
good to hear its recognizable as in pics it looks a little generic. I guess 3rd parties could start producing covers for it? or perhaps Nokia will gradually bring more variants out (like the ruggerized ones they already announced).
Imo these back covers could be a good trend. Image a back cover with a wireless keyboard and stuff. Same way they do with iPads and other products.
I’m quite sure they only need to lodge the one submission if both phones are using the same radio
