This time last year on the 1st November 2011, I tweeted myself the following (in anticipation of the Nokia Lumia 800 announced just days ago at Nokia World 2011, the last ever Nokia World with blogger attendees – well…).

This time next year I hope to have a Lumia 900 along with my Lumia Win8 tablet.

I’ve certainly got a Nokia Lumia 900. Though as you know, I’m already anticipating upgrading to the Nokia Lumia 920 and have been since September 05th 2012. Initially I was expecting the 900 to appear with the 800 (before launch). I was not yet aware of Nokia’s PureView work (not until about December) or what they’d do with the Lumia line other than wishing it had the N8’s camera (which was much rumoured/expected).

There’s certainly no sight of Nokia releasing a tablet any time soon as they’re focus is sharpening more and more on correcting their main lines of business. I’m really not sure how they’re going to differentiate here like they have with the 920. Nokia sure made a point on not wanting to be just another tablet maker on the shelf. And that’s going to be come even harder with the plethora of new tablets from the Windows 8 partners, such as ASUS, genuinely making interesting and innovative form factors.
