There’s an official ‘web’ demo for the Surface Pro, MS’s own Intel powered W8 tablet.

You can see the Nokia Lumia 920 in the video as they demo the battery charger that can be hooked up to the tablet as well charging your phone (or whatever USB powered thing you might have). Odd to see a tablet demoed in use with a charger. What is the battery life like on the Surface Pro? Well I guess the Surface Pro is meant for actual work.

Still one of my favourite ads.

Please tell me the power charger for the Surface has a secret, and also passes through the USB through the Surface charging port.

    So we can tether.

(and make it work with the Surface RT)

That setup would be pretty slick.

    • Pretty sure the Surface has a regular powered USB port for things like mice and keyboards. Charging via the power adapter would probably be faster, since it wouldn’t have the 500ma restriction.

I have one so can confirm yes it does have a USB port, it’s one of the selling points vs. ipads

My point was that it would be super slick if you could do everything through that one dual charger, and pass through the USB from the phone into the Surface via the Surface power jack. That would be hot.

I remember reading a local community forum where a member representing an electronics retailer pointed that they’re waiting for a Windows 8 tablet, regardless of brand, instead of selling the RT versions. The reason he gave was that when people think of Windows, they assume that they can install whatever type of software into it and by selling the ‘locked-down’ RT versions, it will just end up hurting future sales of the Windows 8 tablets.

Microsoft should have provided more details of both the RT version and the 8 version. Aside from that, I hope that Malaysian retailers will stock the Surface Pro soon, though the ASUS VivoBook looked good, but reminded me a lot of a laptop.

Aren’t they intact laptops with removable keyboards and touch screens? The Sony Vaio T series is a laptop with a touch screen on Win8.
