Double tap to wake and FM Radio coming to Nokia Lumia 920 and 820?

Screen Shot 2013-03-26 at 12.26.13@Joao Luis C tweets that the double tap to wake as seen in the Nokia N9 is coming to the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820. This was a very nice feature in the N9 as you could tap the screen twice to wake it up as opposed to pressing the lock button on the side. A nice option to have .

Further more it seems that the FM Radio is going to be activated. The hardware is there but for some reason, it didn’t make an appearance to the end user.

I’m not sure where Joao has got this information from but it’s a more than welcome addition. We need more, not only from what was great from Nokia in the past but to integrate new and highly requested features that Nokia hasn’t had yet.

Update: This is also another source:

MS is working on bringing back FM Radio (why it disappeared in the first place, makes sense possibly only to MS). Nokia is also bringing their own addition to the next ‘minor’ update to WP8, including the aforementioned double-tap to wake.

Other additions include:

  • Flip to silence (return of)
  • Lumia colour profile (screen calibration)

Available in ‘the coming months’.

Now I also want always on standby screen from Symbian/N9. Yes, it might need AMOLED (but I’m sure some older Symbian devices with LCD had this option, no?)

Cheers Ilama for the tip!
