Here’s another comparison between the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Sony Xperia Z1. Both are excellent devices but in this video, the camera performance is tested.

Overall the 1020 is a winner. More detail, better looking photos, better contrast, better bokeh, better video, better low light, better manual controls. But the Z1 isn’t shabby, it’s just that the 1020 is really good.

We’re still of course looking for that fix on the white balance (though often the Z1 looks really bland/pale – almost at the other end of the spectrum). Also the software stabilisation on the Z1, sometimes it looks good (like the YouTube software stabilisation) and sometimes not so. I’d be interested to see how it looks on top of the optical image stabilisation Nokia has (actually you can see that by uploading to youtube). Of course, software stabilisation isn’t going to be much help on camera phones for photos and time and time again it helps bring in just that extra bit more detail for the 1020.
