According to the folks of WinBeta, they’ve got some inside info on what Windows 9 Threshold. Where does this info come from? Not quite sure. But anyway…

  • Interactive live tiles may be on the way (wow, so new, much innovation!). WP8.1 already has interactive live tiles of sorts with their new folders but now they should act like widgets you might have used, say on the Nokia 770 or any android.
  • Coming 2015
  • Desktop UI will be removed for devices that do not need it. Goodbye choices.
  • Either desktop UI or Modern UI. Cannot have both. It would be ok for desktop users but say, RT users, that transition was apparently jarring. Some will say this makes sense since RT could never install desktop apps anyway.
  • Devices with modern UI and desktop UI should run it distinctively.
  • For those with modern UI, that’s all they’ll ever see. Nothing complex, nothing to say it’s windows. No registry.
