We previously posted about WindowsPhone’s version of office, which compared to pages on the iPhone is an utter joke.

Office however is getting a new look and it’s been in testing (beta version) to a select few users.

Today it seems a new version is finally available. To iPhone Users! And Android users. The main top two.

Hurrah! In a cloud first, mobile first world, those who support Windows Phone consistently receive the middle finger from Microsoft. Support our services? Why here’s a kick in the behind to remember that you really shouldn’t have purchased our product.

Another way of looking at it, if you were so positively inclined, is that the iPhone users get to be beta testers. Hmm, sure. That’s how we’ll live with others having newer features first.

The WindowsPhone community on Reddit aren’t happy with this treatment.

It’s not just one person complaining. There’s a raft of complaints.

But let’s look at the upside. Office on mobile platforms (even if it’s not on ours yet, it should be a sign) looks great! My first screenshot is what I searched for initially. Can I view word documents how the author on the pc version wanted it to look, or can I have Microsoft’s magical blended jumble version that looks like clippy had a really bad road traffic accident.

More formatting features to actually make it useable.

For now however, Microsoft’s WindowsPhone users will just have to suck it up and accept in Satya Nadella’s Cloud First, Mobile First, WindowsPhone comes second. Or Third. Or Last. Which ever fits. If they have time.

“WindowsPhone – the only phone with Microsoft Office built in*”

*built in and several versions behind, practically useless compared to the iPhone/Android versions.

It’s not like there are enough of us for Microsoft to care or worry about anyway. They’re now catering for the masses.
