Here’s another demo showing the camera improvements with Lumia Denim and the updated Lumia Camera algorithms.

The speed of start up and capture really pleases me. Despite having a camera button that was really reliable, I felt that the camera in the 1520 took a bit too long to start up. Here we see the camera start up really quickly. It’s actually really fast and should mean that the moment you see something interesting, you can capture it straight away.

Camera speed start up I found isn’t something to be taken for granted. It’s on the “bad” list regarding my Note 4 which doesn’t have a camera button or a reliable way to start the camera.

Something the Note 4 can do well is HDR – you see it live on the viewfinder and it works really well. Lumia Camera has HDR too but it does something extra – with rich capture you can take a picture with and without flash and feed back in just the right amount to make the scene work for you. Useful in occasions where flash can be used and also saves on deciding whether to take a photo with or without flash.
