Tom Warren was discussing the possibility of Android apps on WindowsPhone yesterday. The App gap is partly the reason why Tom Warren left WindowsPhone in the first place. Though, for those actually concerned with apps, Tom thinks that iOS is the better platform.

The implementation has always been a concern for some who fear the blackberry approach of getting Android apps on your platform.

It can’t just run, it has to feel seamless. Not just that, how would they address the possible negative effect of folks choosing NOT to develop on that platform instead?

Oddly enough, I’ve found a lot of my main core app experience better on WP, particularly when it comes to third party versus original. I would look forward to seeing something like Business Calendar and Chrome browser but otherwise, the main apps I need daily, I already have on WP. Having said that, it is nice having the bonus of the ‘rare/occasional use’ apps being present, such as the official BNF (I think there’s an out of date paid one on WP?).

The best place Android apps would help are for those who might be leaning towards a WP device but can’t have a particular app that is available on Android but not WP.

Cheers Mariano for the tip
