MWC-1-41

About an hour ago in Barcelona Stephen Elop took the stage once again in Barcelona, just as in the Nokia days to announce a couple of new Lumia devices. The new Lumia 640 and the 640 XL, an attempt by Nokia to streamline the naming scheme and make it a bit more comprehensible to understand where each device falls on the spectrum.

The Lumia 640 (above) is a 5″ device with a 720p screen, a 1.2Ghz quadcore Snapdragon 400 processor and an 8 MP main camera and a 1 MP front facing camera bundled with 8 GBs onboard storage plus SD card expansion, as well as Glance screen support.

The Lumia 640 is set to be priced at EUR 139 (3G) or EUR 159 (LTE).

Also announced was the Lumia 640 XL, a followup to the Lumia 1320 phablet device, but with a slightly smaller screen. The Lumia 640 XL comes with a 5.7″ 720p display (also supports Glance screen), along with the same  1.2Ghz quadcore Snapdragon 400 processor. However the Lumia 640 XL comes with a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP FFC, as well as a 3000 mAh battery.
