Tips
Update: This is the new tips page. The old one has been so fortunate with many tips from MNB readers but the page became too bulky and unresponsive. Thank you to all those tippers on that page and apologies for the inconvenience as the tips page had slowed down. Thanks to those who gave us feedback about it.
The older tips are visible at: http://mynokiablog.com/tipsarchive
Got a tip or article suggestion you’d like to share with MNB’s readers?
email us at tips@mynokiablog.com

Emailed tips may be published faster than the comments as that still currently relies of manual checking. We’ll credit the name/username you give us or can leave you anonymous if you wish.

Nokia Lumia 820 in the Rita Ora – Shine Ya Light video. I think it is a 820.
Its at 2:47. And its not an 820 as it is the old windows symbol.

Nice Lumia 920 review:

Finnish operator DNA makes a commitment to sell Jolla mobile phones that run meego sailfish OS
Just a couple of hours left to see what Jolla has to offer regarding UI/UX layer (the underpinnings we already know). Striking deals with carriers is usually a sign of long-term commitment, and having deals with European carriers alleviates the concerns of Jolla being China-market-only for starters.
P.S. Slush can be watched live @ http://new.livestream.com/slushlive/mainstage
Jolla.com is open! No major info there, mostly tweets and live stream from the event. Also a link to Sailfish OS. Some more technically advanced could start opening up the content to us less capable
https://sailfishos.org/wiki/Main_Page
Also a new press release available on the site:
http://jolla.com/press/Jolla-press-release-November-21-2012.pdf
Some interesting parts:
“Sailfish OS already supports multiple chipset technologies that are being demonstrated today in Slush, and
further support is continuously being built for all the major chipsets. Today Jolla is happy to announce that
ST So those who claimed Nokia’s Maemo/Meego efforts were left out of options when TI was not going to continue mobile chipset development were more or less wrong. With Nokia’s full support it wouldnt have been a problem.
“Users are able to multitask instantly between truly running applications. Even more, users are able to
interact with the running applications directly on the home view: ending a call, pausing a song without
needing to enter the application. This multitasking feature brings usability and speed of use to a totally
new level, unseen in the mobile industry.”
Yesyesyes, excatly what I’ve been wishing for: users are able to
interact with the running applications directly on the home view!!!
“The UI also features many new innovations, such as the Pulley Menu enabling fast and effortless
interaction, at-a-glance peeks at status information, and effortless personalization of the device to match
the user’s style and mood.”
Something Marko Ahtisaari has talked all along
This really got me excited!!!
Yup, http://jolla.com/ is finally up. As for hardware, we already knew they’ll be trying with ST Ericsson amongst other manufacturers and that those claims of not being able to adapt to other hardware were pure, unfiltered BS.
At https://sailfishos.org/wiki/QA
“What do the Android app developers need to do get their apps run on Jolla devices / devices based on the Sailfish OS?
Many Android(TM) applications will run on Jolla devices unchanged (Android is a trademark of Google Inc.). If you want to take advantage of all UI and other features of Sailfish OS and make your applications fast, you can port your applications to native QT/QML. There are extensive guides available on how to do that.”
Pretty much in line with what I’ve heard & reported months ago: http://mynokiablog.com/2012/07/09/jollas-meego-based-phone-with-new-ui-coming-this-year/comment-page-1/#comment-612068
The question is if it’s ACL or they did their own layer. Either way, we might see the ultimate vaporware finally come to fruition
I guess we’ll know more in just a few minutes
I could start a web-shop? At least us Finns will be able to buy jolla phones: The third biggest operator DNA has closed a deal with Jolla. No mention of exclusivity. For a player like Jolla exclusivity would be much more logical than for established player.

read the comments… people saying it will be available for n9 and android apps are compatible.
jolla.com is so dynamic site that every time you refresh. it has new colors.
