At the beginning of this week, HMD announced they have undergone a new round of funding, raising USD$100 million from multiple investors, and sees it hit a market valuation exceeding USD$1 Billion. HMD has outlined its plan for 2018, aiming to”aggressively expand its portfolio of Nokia smartphones and double down on expanding channel reach in strategic markets”.

Since HMD began in Dec 2016, the company has reportedly “shipped more than 70 million Nokia branded phones” in “over 80 countries”.

There are a few more tidbits in the press release, such as “150,000,000 visits” to the Nokia.com/phones page since Jan 2017, 2/3 of consumers purchasing Nokia phones today are under 35, and 4 out of 5 consumers are recommending a Nokia smartphone.
