HMD Global today announced in Russia, the release of Nokia 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1 devices. These are a refresh of the 2,3, and 5 devices released previously. All three devices are Android P ready, with the 3.1 and 5.1 being part of Android One (with 2 years worth of OS updates and 3 years of security patches). The Nokia 2.1 will come with Android Oreo Go Edition, maximising the experience for the lower specs, and consuming less data – great for emerging markets.

Nokia 2.1

The new Nokia 2 (I’m not going to easily get used to saying 2.1), available in three colour options, Blue/Copper, Blue/Silver and Grey/Silver, will be launching in early July 2018, at USD$115.

So what’s new? The Nokia 2.1 rocks a 4,000mAh battery to keep its 5.5-inch HD display powered for longer. The new display is 20% larger than the Nokia 2, and features dual stereo speakers on the front.

Underneath the display, there’s a Snapdragon 425 bringing “50% faster and smoother performance” and 1GB RAM. On the back, you’ve got an 8MP camera to keep the 5MP on the front company.

Nokia 3.1

The Nokia 3 is “the most successful model” in the HMD portfolio of Nokia devices, and the 3.1 looks to build on that. It features a curved 18:9 5.2-inch HD+ screen encased in CNC’d aluminium body.

Powering it, is a Mediatek 6750 octo-core, boosting the performance 50% from the previous gen model. Maintaining the upgraded specs, the rear camera is bumped up to 13MP.

The variants for the 3.1 are both colour and storage/RAM focused, with 2GB/16GB, and 3GB/32GB models, comping in Blue/Copper, Black/Chrome and White/Iron. Kicking off in June, prices will be around EUR139.

Nokia 5.1

Rounding out the new arrivals, is the Nokia 5.1 which carries on the classic design from the previous model. Made from a single block of aluminium, the 5.1 packs a 5.5-inch Full HD+ display (18:9 aspect ratio).

Under this larger screen, is a 2GHZ MediaTek Helio P18 octo-core processor, designed to be 40% faster than before. There’s a 16MP rear shooter near the fingerprint sensor which has now moved to the back of the device.

Available starting in July, for around EUR189, there are 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB models, in Copper, Tempered Blue and Black.
