Wireless Display Demo

Good Day MNB Readers!

We have managed to secure a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter (WDA) that allows you to wirelessly mirror or cast what is on your device’s screen to a larger display such as a HDMI equipped TV or monitor.

Here is a quick run down of the features:

See it all on your big screen

Share what’s on your tablet, laptop, or smartphone1 on an HDTV or monitor with Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. Stream movies, view personal photos, or display a presentation on a big screen – all wirelessly.

Modernize your meetings

Project your ideas and collaborate in real time by plugging the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter into a conference room projector or monitor. You can even ink in PowerPoint to emphasize a point and make that big screen your collective workspace.

Miracast® Technology

The Wireless Display Adapter uses Miracast® technology, so you’re not limited to certain apps or content streaming; you can display everything from your device on an HDTV or monitor.

Easily connect

Just plug the USB and HDMI from the Wireless Display Adapter into your HDTV or monitor, connect, then mirror or extend your screen and enjoy. The Wireless Display Adapter delivers a reliable connection with up to a 23-foot range.

The WDA works as advertised and is easy to set up and use. It has already won approval from my wife as we used it to project our budget spreadsheet from my 1520 to our 50 inch TV. We then conducted business on a huge screen for the first time and it was much better than the both of us being huddled around my 20 inch computer monitor. Well, enough of my words, on to the video!

Now it’s your turn.

What do you think of the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter? Do you have any use case scenarios that may come in handy for you? How important to you is it to have TV-Out ability on your smartphone? I have included a couple of videos for comparison sake and to see how far we have come from a wired world to a wireless one.

My Nokia N900 wired RGB TV-Out video from 2010:

Using my Nokia N8 to it’s fullest via wired HDMI TV-Out in 2011.

Finally, do you prefer a wired HDMI connection like with the Nokia 808 PureView or Nokia N8 or even RGB TV-Out through the headphone jack like with Symbian devices and the Maemo powered Nokia N900? I have extremely fond memories of using the TV-Out feature on my Nokia N82 to play One: Who’s Next in 2008 on a then massive 32 inch HDTV. 🙂

As always, thank you for choosing MyNokiaBlog! Have a great day.
