That was quick, here is a quick hands on for the Nokia X3 touch and type aka the Nokia X3-02. I thought the new naming conversion was meant to be easier darn it

Just look at that guy trying to swipe the pictures at 1:00 and 1:01.. Most people would try it that way and would wonder why nothing happens. Capacitive would offer a more natural user experience in many cases, including here. I know resistive is more accurate but it sure is frustrating to use.
Seems strange a lot of people have said that S40 looks better and is smoother than Symbian 3 too from the videos we have seen, I completely agree. Cant wait for Meego then. Contrary to reports Nokia can make a pretty UI after all
well from what we’ve seen looks very nice. also think that this is a low end device so the expectation are not very high , but I think today Nokia set a new standard for low end devices and how should they look. All I can say is great job Nokia and I hope you will make the same impressions on high end devices.
Resistive looks cheap, not for mass market, most of the users are not painters or artist, chinese people do not have problem with capacitive screen for chinese character writing
K, do you know how much capacitive screens cost? The screen itself would have cost them about $80-100. Besides, I dont think the screen used here is cheap, it looks MUCH better than my 5800 or even the N97. The screen is even unlike 5800 and N97 where the screen was kinda uneven and wobbly. Plus, this thing is targeted towards the low end market and NO low end phone would have a capacitive screen. Writing on capacitive screen is harder than you think it is, especially on small screens, something like the iPad is OK for writing and drawing.
I think this phone will ROCK in the low end market coz it combines the best of the two worlds. And I might even buy this as a secondary device to accompany my N8…………
honestly at this point save for multitouch capacitive offers no advantages over resistive that justify the cost, most people apply enough pressure easily enough, unless of course you’re a weak limbed person like joshua ;p
i think non touch interfaces(save for keypad/keyboard) are on their way out for the average consumer device or something with a decently sized screen. The X3 has a 2.4 inch screen and functions just fine without a dpad. Infact it works as perfectly as i’d imagine, no massive onscreen abc/123 keypad when typing up a message
Would be a killer with a capacitive display.
Agree with you there, although capacitive screens are more expensive I think
Besides, screen size is not big. Resistive screen is more sensitive and fits better.
I would have liked the screen to be a tad bigger and capacitive myself. I hate resistive screens myself

They just made S40 look smoother than S^3.
